2024 NFL Draft: Drake Maye Challenged by Clemson’s NFL Talent-Laden Defense

0

Drake Maye and the North Carolina Tar Heels took on the Clemson Tigers in Week 12 of the college football season. Maye didn’t will his team to the win, but 2024 NFL Draft evaluators were able to see some of his best traits, as well as some of his areas for improvement.

Drake Maye Has Up-and-Down Day Against Clemson Defense

The Tar Heels lost to the Tigers 31-20. They were down for the entire game past the first quarter, and never quite built their way. Maye completed just 16 of 36 attempts for 209 yards, a touchdown, and a pick, and added 67 yards rushing.

It wasn’t a banner day statistically for Maye, and that was reflected on the field as well. There were exceptional plays — reminders of why he’s one of the favorites to be the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The most of which was his touchdown pass.

Maye’s TD toss, in particular, was a display of his high-level physical talent. Fading backward from pressure, he was able to generate the necessary torque and velocity to push a throw past deep coverage. It’s the kind of throw only elite arm talent can unlock.

Maye also had high-velocity touch throws that were dropped in several spots — one in particular to Devontez Walker on the boundary, who was tightly covered by Nate Wiggins.

The box score didn’t give credit for those high-quality throws that were dropped, but Maye also earns justified criticism for some of his missed opportunities and poor decisions.

MORE: 2024 NFL Draft Big Board

The Clemson defense, more than once, forced Maye to hold the ball longer than desired with suffocating coverage, and Maye took a few bad sacks as a result. His worst play, however, was the game-sealing interception.

On that play, Maye was a little too slow to align and trigger on the boundary curl for Walker. As a result, he keyed in Wiggins, who broke early on the pass and swooped into front of it for the interception.

To be clear, an up-and-down outing was to be expected. North Carolina simply doesn’t have the talent to counteract Clemson’s defense. Clemson has over a half-dozen draftable prospects on its unit — led by potential first-round talents in Wiggins, Andrew Mukuba, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., and Barrett Carter.

It wasn’t a game that will move Maye’s stock much, up or down. His QB1-worthy talent was on display, and he generally moved well inside the pocket. But there are also still areas to improve — areas that are made more distinct when he’s under pressure and playing against NFL-quality opponents.

NFL Games Today: Sunday TV Schedule, Start Times, Live Stream Options for Week 11

0

Who faces off in NFL games today? Week 11’s Sunday slate returns to standard time with the conclusion of the NFL International Series in Frankfurt last week. Another four teams get the week off with another 12-game Sunday schedule in Week 11. Here’s how to watch all the action, including the start times, channels, and live stream options.

NFL Games Today: Sunday TV Schedule, Channels, Live Stream Options, and More

Week 11’s Sunday schedule features 12 NFL games today. The Atlanta Falcons, Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots, and New Orleans Saints take their bye this week.

An interestingly competitive week in the middle of the season, Week 11 features six divisional matchups today ahead of the blockbuster Monday night thriller between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. Here’s how to watch every game on Sunday in Week 11.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns

  • Start time: 1 p.m. ET
  • Channel: CBS
  • Live stream options: Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, CBS All-Access

Today’s first NFL game continues the AFC North fun from Thursday as the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Cleveland Browns. Pittsburgh’s path to the postseason got a boost this week. While the offense still struggles to maintain momentum, the Steelers’ defense has willed this franchise to their 6-3 2023 record. With four divisional matchups left, some critical injuries have flipped Pittsburgh’s odds.

MORE: Week 11 NFL Power Rankings

While Pittsburgh still has to play the Bengals twice after losing QB Joe Burrow for the season, the good fortune starts today by taking on Cleveland’s rookie QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson. The Browns placed Deshaun Watson on IR this week after the QB received surgery on a broken bone in his shoulder. It’s Pittsburgh’s playoff berth to lose at this point.

Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions

  • Start time: 1 p.m. ET
  • Channel: FOX
  • Live stream options: Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, FOX Now

The divisional rivalries continue as the Chicago Bears head to Ford Field to take on the Detroit Lions in an NFC North battle. The Lions emerged victorious in their track meet against the Los Angeles Chargers 41-38. Detroit RBs David Montgomery and rookie Jahmyr Gibbs lit the field up while QB Jared Goff continues to play solid football for Dan Campbell and the Lions.

The Bears, meanwhile, celebrate the return of QB Justin Fields under center. Rookie QB Tyson Bagent was decent during Fields’ absence. However, with Fields back under center, it’s time to figure out if the Ohio State product is the signal-caller of the future in Chicago. A win today would go a long way in that conversation, but the Lions are playing their best football in years.

Los Angeles Chargers at Green Bay Packers

  • Start time: 1 p.m. ET
  • Channel: FOX
  • Live stream options: Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, FOX Now

The Chargers lost a heartbreaker to the Lions, watching a Detroit field goal sail through the uprights as time expired in the fourth quarter. However, seeing the offense put up 38 points against a quality opponent was great, given the team’s performance this year. However, with the AFC opening up due to injuries, it’s now or never for Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, the Packers lost again, dropping their record to a lowly 3-6 this season. Improvements need to be made around Jordan Love in the passing game. While he’s made his fair share of mistakes, he is not the problem in Green Bay. Rookie WR Jayden Reed leads the team with 417 yards. Love desperately needs some help.

Las Vegas Raiders at Miami Dolphins

  • Start time: 1 p.m. ET
  • Channel: CBS
  • Live stream options: Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, CBS All-Access

The Dolphins return from the bye week and host the Las Vegas Raiders in Hard Rock Stadium. Even more important is the return of RB De’Von Achane from injured reserve. Out the last four weeks with a knee injury, the sensational rookie RB seems primed and ready to be activated for the Dolphins Week 11 tilt.

This couldn’t be worse news for the Raiders, who allow 135.6 rushing yards per game, the fourth-most in the NFL. While Raheem Mostert has been solid this season for Miami, Achane took that production to another level, gaining 527 on 47 touches to start his career. Can Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel set the rookie up for another incredible performance?

New York Giants at Washington Commanders

  • Start time: 1 p.m. ET
  • Channel: FOX
  • Live stream options: Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, FOX Now

Since the last time these two teams played, Commanders QB Sam Howell has taken a step in the right direction. Howell was sacked 40 times in the first seven weeks, including six the last time they played the Giants. In the three games since? Howell has gone down only seven times.

Not only have the sacks gone down, but his play has been stellar. While it’s clear the new ownership is preparing for 2024, given the trade deadline moves, Howell’s play over the past few weeks should get him another year. Who else on the Commanders’ roster is ready to show the front office they deserve to stay past this year?

Dallas Cowboys at Carolina Panthers

  • Start time: 1 p.m. ET
  • Channel: FOX
  • Live stream options: Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, FOX Now

Outside of the Week 3 loss to the Cardinals, the Cowboys have easily handled bad teams this season. Dallas has an average margin of victory of 27.2 points in their six wins. The offense won’t need to work nearly as hard heading to Bank of America Stadium for a matchup against the Carolina Panthers this week.

MORE: NFL Week 11 Predictions From Pro Football Network

The Panthers continue to be a mess this season. Head coach Frank Reich has retaken playcalling duties after giving them to offensive coordinator Thomas Brown three games ago. The Panthers have the fourth-lowest scoring offense, averaging 17 points per game. QB Dak Prescott and the Dallas offense should have this one wrapped up by halftime.

Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Start time: 1 p.m. ET
  • Channel: CBS
  • Live stream options: Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, CBS All-Access

If there was ever a need for a bounce-back performance, Jacksonville will desperately be searching for it this week. The Jaguars were embarrassed in Week 10, hammered by the 49ers 34-3. QB Trevor Lawrence was responsible for three of the team’s four turnovers, and an impressive five-game win streak came to a screeching halt.

Rookie QB Will Levis remains the starter despite Ryan Tannehill returning from injury. The Titans are still struggling to put the pieces together on offense, and the defense continues to struggle. An upset victory in this AFC South battle would be surprising and complicate things further for Jacksonville, with Houston on their heels.

Arizona Cardinals at Houston Texans

  • Start time: 1 p.m. ET
  • Channel: CBS
  • Live stream options: Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, CBS All-Access

Kyler Murray returned last week from the right knee injury he suffered last season, leading the Cardinals to their first win since Week 3. While he didn’t throw a touchdown, Murray had Arizona’s offense moving well, as he helped lead six scoring drives against the Falcons last week. Will he be able to throw his first touchdown against Houston after cashing one in on the ground against Atlanta?

Houston enters Week 11, buzzing off their win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Sitting one game behind the Jaguars in the AFC South and holding on to the final Wild Card spot, every win gets Houston closer to their first postseason appearance since 2019. Rookie HC DeMeco Ryans and C.J. Stroud must stay focused and not let a new-look Cardinals surprise them.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at San Francisco 49ers

  • Start time: 4:05 p.m. ET
  • Channel: FOX
  • Live stream options: Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, FOX Now

The first of the late afternoon games sees the Tampa Bay Buccaneers heading across the country to take on the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers had quite the bounce-back performance against the streaking Jaguars last week, defeating them 34-3. The win snapped their three-game skid and looked like the Super Bowl contender they portrayed to start the season.

The Buccaneers snapped their losing streak last week, getting a win over the Titans after dropping four straight. Baker Mayfield threw two touchdowns to get the offense back on track, but the 49ers will be a far more challenging test than Tennessee. San Francisco should have no problem getting a win and keeping pace with Detroit and Philadelphia.

New York Jets at Buffalo Bills

  • Start time: 4:25 p.m. ET
  • Channel: CBS
  • Live stream options: Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, CBS All-Access

After a Thursday Night Football loss in Week 10, the Bills find themselves out of the AFC playoff race with the 11 seed. Meanwhile, another loss for the Jets drops them even further down the totem pole at 13. With eight teams in the AFC with 4-5 wins, every game is crucial, and divisional matchups even more.

While Buffalo’s offense has struggled as of late, they have to find a way to beat an unproductive Jets offense. New York is only scoring 16 points per game. While HC Robert Saleh’s defense is firing on all units, the issues at QB keep this team from being a true contender until Aaron Rodgers returns. Bills QB Josh Allen and HC Sean McDermott have to figure out how to get the offense working, or it could mean the latter’s job.

Seattle Seahawks at Los Angeles Rams

  • Start time: 4:25 p.m. ET
  • Channel: CBS
  • Live stream options: Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, CBS All-Access

The final divisional game of the week features an NFC West showdown between the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams. The Rams need a win. After a three-game losing streak, Los Angeles comes off the bye at home and will have much better chances of winning, with QB Matthew Stafford returning to the lineup.

MORE: NFL Injuries Week 11 — Tracking Every Injury

Rams HC Sean McVay has outmatched Pete Carroll over their head-to-head appearances. While the Seahawks have played well this season, the Rams will look more like that Week 1 team. It will be a fun game if Stafford can get both WRs Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua going again.

Minnesota Vikings at Denver Broncos

  • Start time: 8:20 p.m. ET
  • Channel: NBC
  • Live stream options: Peacock

All seemed lost when QB Kirk Cousins went down with a torn Achilles, putting the Vikings season on life support. But a trade with the Arizona Cardinals just before the deadline saw them acquire QB Joshua Dobbs, who stepped in on a moment’s notice and delivered a thrilling win over the Saints in Week 10.

Denver also enters Sunday Night Football, coming off an impressive win over the Buffalo Bills as the defense continues to show out over the last four weeks. Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores and Broncos DC Vance Joseph have been dialing up impressive schemes over the last few weeks. Does that mean a defensive battle is ahead on Sunday Night Football?

Who Is Rico Dowdle? Cowboys Backup RB Is Making an Impact in Year 4

0

Across four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, Rico Dowdle hasn’t always seen a substantial role, but it appears that may finally be changing.

At 6-3, the Cowboys are having a promising season, and signs are pointing to Dowdle having an increased role with the team behind Tony Pollard.

Rico Dowdle’s History With The Cowboys

During his time at South Carolina, Dowdle was a solid running back who finished his college career ranked 15th on the school’s all-time rushing list with 2,167 yards. He also scored 16 rushing touchdowns with the Gamecocks.

In his final collegiate season, Dowdle racked up 498 rushing yards on 106 carries with four touchdowns.

The then-rookie RB signed with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2020. Prior to 2023, he had played only 20 career games and totaled just seven carries for 24 yards and four kickoff returns as a third-stringer behind Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard.

He suffered a hip injury in 2021, and an ankle injury limited him to five games last season. With Elliott off to New England in 2023, however, Dowdle has seen more playing time behind Pollard.

In Week 10 against the New York Giants, Dowdle tallied season highs in carries (12) and yards (79). This brought his season totals to 212 yards on 47 carries.

Dowdle’s performance in the preseason indicated that he may be in a bigger role this year, and that’s starting to come to fruition. He beat out rookie Deuce Vaughn for the role of Pollard’s backup, as Dowdle carried the ball 14 times for 59 yards in exhibition games, averaging 4.7 yards per carry.

MORE: How Leighton Vander Esch’s Influence Extends Beyond Football

Back in August, head coach Mike McCarthy praised Dowdle’s preseason performance.

“I’ve been impressed with Rico since the first year,” McCarthy said. “I love his running style. He runs angry. He pass-protects with a lot of urgency. He sticks his nose in there … I think we’re just seeing Rico finally healthy. He’s had a tough four years here. Very instinctive. Very bright. Very good, young football player.”

According to ESPN insider Dan Graziano, we can expect to see more Dowdle throughout the remainder of the Cowboys season.

“In spite of rumors linking them to the Titans’ Derrick Henry, I’m told the Cowboys did not engage teams in talks for running backs. They like their running back room,” Graziano wrote. “To that point, don’t be surprised to see a few more carries for backup Rico Dowdle in the coming weeks. The Cowboys still believe in Tony Pollard, and they believe their offensive line’s performance is a bigger part of their run game struggles than their lead back.

“But they also acknowledge the run game isn’t working the way they need it to, and mixing in Dowdle is one way they could try to address it in the short term.”

The Cowboys’ run game is a place of potential improvement for the team, as they average 117.9 rushing yards per game, 11th in the league.

During last Thursday’s practice, McCarthy was asked if Dowdle would get more touches as he did against the Giants.

“We’ll see how the game goes,” McCarthy said. “I’m thrilled to death with the way Rico is playing. But I think we do an excellent job of ball distribution … The game dictates that. If Rico gets more carries, that would be great. But also my focus is Tony Pollard as the primary ball carrier.”

NFL Weather Report and Forecast Week 11: Could Wind, Rain, and Snow Have an Impact on Fantasy Matchups?

0

As temperatures continue to drop around the country, the risk of the weather affecting NFL games and fantasy football matchups increases. This week sees all but three games being played in stadiums open to the elements, so the weather forecasts for those 11 games will be crucial.

Let’s take a look at the NFL Week 11 weather report and how the current forecasts could impact this weekend’s games and your fantasy matchups.

Weather forecasts are up to date as of 4:15 a.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023. Forecasts for the games are from the National Weather Service.

Week 11 NFL Weather Report and Fantasy Impact

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns | Sunday, 1 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: High-40s
  • Showers: <10% chance at kickoff
  • Wind: 11 mph northwesterly

The weather forecasts for the 1 p.m. ET window are generally pretty calm before things get a little dicier in the afternoon. The worst of the weather in this window may well come in Cleveland, where the Deshaun Watson-less Cleveland Brown faces the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, the predicted weather forecast is for slightly elevated winds that should have limited impact.

MORE: NFL Injuries Week 11 — Tracking Every Injury

The concern for this game is just what fantasy value we are going to find. Can Dorian Thompson-Robinson make Amari Cooper and other pass-catchers fantasy-relevant, and will the Steelers pack the box and negate Jerome Ford and Kareem Hunt? The Browns are a really tough team to judge fantasy-wise this week.

Things are a little more clear with the Steelers in PFN’s Consensus Fantasy Rankings. You are probably starting both Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren, with Diontae Johnson in most lineups and George Pickens in the deeper-league flex discussion.

Las Vegas Raiders at Miami Dolphins | Sunday, 1 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: High-70s
  • Showers: <10% chance at kickoff
  • Wind: 10 mph northerly

There could be a little bit of wind around for the Miami Dolphins game with the Las Vegas Raiders, but it should be relatively low-impact when you add in the roof. That is great news, given the number of stud options on the field in this one, with seven players ranked inside the top 50 on PFN’s Consensus Fantasy Rankings.

The biggest debates in this game will be how the return of De’Von Achane impacts Raheem Mostert, who has the better rest-of-season fantasy value, and whether Davante Adams can be fantasy-relevant this week after some tough games. It would be great for fantasy managers if this game turns into a shootout that gives value all over the field.

New York Giants at Washington Commanders | Sunday, 1 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: Mid-50s
  • Showers: <10% chance at kickoff
  • Wind: 10 mph westerly

The first meeting between these two teams was not a pretty watch as it finished in a 14-7 win for the New York Giants. There is no guarantee this game will be any better, and it could end up being a tough place to find fantasy value. Fortunately, the weather will not make things worse with just marginally elevated winds.

Dallas Cowboys at Carolina Panthers | Sunday, 1 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: Mid-60s
  • Showers: <10% chance at kickoff
  • Wind: 5 mph northeasterly

There should be no concerns in this game between the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers. The chance of rain is low, and the winds should be relatively calm. Add in nice temperatures, and hopefully, we can see plenty of offensive production here to pad the stats of those key fantasy options on both offenses.

Los Angeles Chargers at Green Bay Packers | Sunday, 1 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: Mid-40s
  • Showers: <10% chance at kickoff
  • Wind: 6 mph northeasterly

Heading to Lambeau Field can be a concern for warm weather-based teams, but this is as close to as nice as you can hope for in Green Bay for the Los Angeles Chargers. The cold is something you can fully expect when you travel to the Frozen Tundra in the second half of the season, but to have low wind speeds and no precipitation is a bonus for the Chargers and fantasy managers.

Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars | Sunday, 1 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: High-70s
  • Showers: <10% chance at kickoff
  • Wind: 10 mph northeasterly

Rounding out the early window is this game in Jacksonville between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans. The weather should be as close to perfect as you can get, with a warm day that should see little-to-no rainfall and relatively calm winds. There is no reason to downgrade any fantasy options based on the weather here.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at San Francisco 49ers | Sunday, 4:05 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: Low-60s
  • Showers: <10% chance at kickoff but chance of rain later in the game
  • Wind: 14 mph northwesterly with gusts up to 23 mph

The afternoon is when the weather forecast could start to have some impact on NFL games and fantasy matchups. Games in Levi’s Stadium can often be wind-impacted, and it looks to be that way again. The wind speeds are not extreme, but it has the chance to push down scoring and make it tough for passing and kicking games. The potential for rain late in the game could also have a minor impact especially if combined with driving winds.

MORE: Kyle Soppe’s Week 11 Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet

The stud options like Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, and Mike Evans are not getting a major downgrade based on this. However, the more fringe options of Chris Godwin, Brock Purdy, and Cade Otton do see their value drop a little if the wind could have an impact on games. Similarly, you may want to go away from the kicking options in this game. Of the two, Jake Moody is the more likely starting option.

New York Jets at Buffalo Bills | Sunday, 4:25 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: Low-40s
  • Showers: <10% chance at kickoff
  • Wind: 15 mph northwesterly

Early in the week, there was talk of snow in this matchup, but things have not played out that way as the forecast developed during the week. There is still the chance we see some precipitation to go with the slightly elevated winds. This is another one of those games where you start your studs and downgrade the fringe options.

The players in the range who get a downgrade with the potential of windy weather include Gabe Davis, Tyler Conklin, Khalil Shakir, and Allen Lazard. The ground game could be crucial here if we see the wind start to whip up, so the situation with James Cook and the Bills’ backfield is a fascinating one to watch this weekend.

Minnesota Vikings at Denver Broncos | Sunday, 8:20 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: High-40s
  • Showers: 55% chance at kickoff
  • Wind: 10 mph northerly with potential gusts up to 15 mph

It looks like it could be a wet and windy night in Colorado, but the forecast has cleared up somewhat in the past 24 hours. On Saturday it looked like there was a high chance of rain and potential for gusts up to 20 mph. That now appears to have gone, as has the risk of snowfall that was hovering around the back end of the game.

MORE: Dynasty Rookie Rankings 2024

Based on the forecast as of early Sunday morning, there should be no limitations on any fantasy options in this game. The risk of snow has almost completely gone with the forecast for any snow pushing back later into Monday morning than originally forecast. That is good news for fantasy managers all around.

Philadelphia Eagles at Kansas City Chiefs | Monday, 8:15 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: Mid-40s
  • Showers: 30-35% chance at kickoff
  • Wind: 13 mph southeasterly with gusts up to 25 mph

If you are hoping for a Monday Night Football fantasy miracle, then the current weather forecast could put the brakes on that. With wind gusts up to 25 mph, there could be some issues for passing and kicking games.

The weather forecast is not severe enough to scare you off the likes of Travis Kelce, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Patrick Mahomes, or Jalen Hurts, but the other pass catchers in this game are far less certain. We have an extra 24 hours for things to change, but if you are on the fence with Rashee Rice, this might be a week to lean away.

Games Played in Stadiums With a Retractable Roof

  • Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions | Sunday, 1 p.m.
  • Arizona Cardinals at Houston Texans | Sunday, 1 p.m.
  • Seattle Seahawks at Los Angeles Rams | Sunday, 4:25 p.m.

Is D’Onta Foreman Playing Today? Latest Injury Updates, Fantasy Analysis, and More (November 19, 2023)

0

Chicago Bears running back D’Onta Foreman is leaving managers with a selection headache heading into today due to his ankle injury. With his official status currently listed as questionable, can fantasy managers trust putting Foreman in their lineups?

Foreman has been a reliable selection in recent weeks for fantasy managers. And, with several running backs on bye and many more injured or questionable, this injury has come as a bad time for Foreman fantasy managers.

Will Foreman play today? And, if he does, what is the latest injury update with his current ankle injury? Also, what is Foreman’s potential fantasy football outlook should he play today? Let’s look into Foreman’s status in more detail.

Is D’Onta Foreman Going To Play in Week 11?

Foreman suffered an ankle injury during the Bears 16-13 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Week 10. As a result of this injury, Foreman has been limited in practice on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week.

However, ESPN reporter Courtney Cronin gave a detailed update on Thursday on X after having an exclusive interview with Foreman. She posted about his injury, “It’s progressing in the right way.” She also went on to say that “He’s going to take it ‘all the way up to Sunday’ but sounded optimistic RE: his outlook vs. Detroit.”

MORE: Fantasy News Tracker

On Saturday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that “Foreman is expected to play Sunday vs. the Lions.” That is good news barring any kind of setback on Sunday morning.

Therefore, it appears that barring any late setback, it is expected that Foreman will play today versus the Lions. However, what is his fantasy outlook for today?

What Is Foreman’s Potential Fantasy Outlook for Today?

Foreman comes into Week 11 as the RB33 in fantasy football. However, since taking over the starting running back role for the Bears due to injuries to Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson, Foreman is the RB7, averaging 15 fantasy points per game.

However, this week, he is playing the Lions. And the Lions are currently allowing the 5th fewest fantasy points to running backs entering week 11. They are conceding just 14.6 fantasy points per game, with only the Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, and New Orleans Saints allowing fewer so far this season.

However, one person who could impact Foreman today is Khalil Herbert, who has been activated off IR and will be playing in Week 11. As a result, it appears that Foreman’s time as the lead back could be coming to an end in Chicago.

Foreman is currently ranked as the RB32 in our PFN Consensus Rankings. Herbert is ranked as the RB29 currently. While it is expected that Foreman will start and that Herbert will be on some sort of pitch count, it is expected that Herbert will eat into Foreman’s workload.

MORE: Kyle Soppe’s Week 11 Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet

There is also the matter of the return of quarterback Justin Fields to the starting lineup this week. Fields will also be taking away carries from Foreman and Herbert due to having designed runs, as well as scrambling with his own athletic ability and natural game.

The Lions come into today’s game as 8-point favorites over the Bears, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. This will likely spoil the amount of rushing attempts the Bears are likely to have. And with Fields eating into that smaller margin and Herbert back, the outlook is not great for Foreman today.

Foreman should be viewed as a desperation play or a low-value Flex option at best this week in all fantasy formats. However, in PPR, it will be even harder for fantasy managers to start Foreman in lineups this week.

Therefore, fantasy managers should be considering other options this week, such as Jaylen Warren or James Conner. Devin Singletary will also be a much better fantasy option for fantasy managers this week than Foreman.

Sit Foreman if you can this week. He is unlikely to return the numbers he has done in recent weeks. Unfortunately, the upside bubble has burst for Foreman — at least in the short term.

Is Garrett Wilson Playing Today? Latest Injury Updates, Fantasy Analysis, and More

0

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson surprised fantasy managers by appearing on the injury report this week with an elbow injury. Wilson did suffer the injury in last week’s 16-12 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. However, he did return to the game and appeared unfazed by the injury.

This injury appears to be impacting Wilson’s ability to practice. Therefore, will Wilson play today? And what is the latest update concerning his injury?

Also, if Wilson does play on Sunday versus the Buffalo Bills, what is his fantasy outlook? Let’s dig deeper to find out what fantasy football managers should do with Wilson this weekend.

Editor’s Note: Garrett Wilson is active for Week 11.

Is Garrett Wilson Going To Play in Week 11?

Wilson sustained an elbow injury while trying to steer the Jets to victory in their defeat to the Raiders last week. As a result, Wilson has only been a limited participant in all 3 practice sessions on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week.

However, there appears to be optimism that Wilson will play in Week 11. When speaking to ESPN reporters on Friday after practice, Wilson said, “It’s doing better. I’m feeling good, so we’re going to rock this weekend.”

MORE: Fantasy News Tracker

However, he did admit that the injury would limit him. He went on to confirm this and say “Yeah, but we’ll get it done.”

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter confirmed this status with an update on X this morning. Schefter posted “Jet’s WR Garrett Wilson, listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Bills, said he will play.”

Therefore, it appears Wilson will play this week against the Bills. However, it does appear he could be somewhat limited. Therefore, how should fantasy managers view Wilson this week? And what is his potential fantasy outlook?

What Is Wilson’s Potential Fantasy Outlook for Today?

Wilson comes into Week 11 as the WR20 in fantasy football. However, he is currently ranked as the WR13 in our PFN Consensus Rankings this week.

This week, Wilson takes on the Bills, who are the 18th-ranked team for fantasy points allowed to wide receivers so far this season. The Bills are allowing 26.4 fantasy points per game to wide receivers entering Week 11.

He currently has a 33% target share on what has been a pretty pedestrian fantasy offense. Wilson also has 63.2% of the Jets’ red-zone targets. Wilson is currently ranked in a tie for 12th for most red-zone targets by wide receivers, with 11 so far this season.

Wilson has a fairly neutral WR/CB matchup with Rasul Douglas this week. However, Douglas certainly has improved since joining the Bills ahead of the trade deadline late last month.

While the Jets have been sluggish on offense, Wilson has been a leading light. And fantasy managers, while not willing to trust Jets quarterback Zach Wilson, should feel confident starting the star wide receiver until further notice.

The injury will be a concern, and it might hamper Wilson in contested catches against Douglas and the Bills. However, Nathanial Hackett, the offensive coordinator, has done a good job in scheming Wilson open so far this season. And with his high target share and high red-zone target share, there should be some trust that Wilson will have a WR2 floor with WR1 upside today.

Therefore, as long as the injury doesn’t prevent Wilson from playing, fantasy managers should feel confident starting him in all formats today.

Is Keenan Allen Playing Today? Latest Injury Updates, Fantasy Analysis, and More

0

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen left the field of play last week with a shoulder injury. As a result, fantasy managers are sweating over his status for Week 11.

Allen, despite missing time in last week’s defeat to the Detroit Lions, put up one of his best outings of the season, scoring 35 fantasy points to finish the week as the WR1.

So, will Allen play today? What is the latest update about his injury? And, if he does play, what is his fantasy football outlook for Week 11? Let’s dive in and take a deeper look.

Is Keenan Allen Going to Play Week 11?

Allen was banged up and missed several phases in last Sunday’s defeat to the Lions. He injured his shoulder after a tackle and a fall to the ground.

Allen did not practice on Wednesday due to the injury. However, on Thursday, he did return to practice, albeit in a limited capacity. Additionally, on Friday, he returned to practice in full.

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter added a further update on X this morning. Schefter posted “Chargers’ WR Keenan Allen, listed as questionable for Sunday’s game due to a shoulder injury, is expected to play vs. the Packers, per source.”

This makes it extremely likely that Allen will play in Week 11. However, what does that mean for this fantasy outlook today as the Chargers take on the Green Bay Packers?

What Is Allen’s Potential Fantasy Outlook for Today?

Allen comes into Week 11 as the WR3 in fantasy football and coming off a WR1 overall performance last week. Allen is currently the WR6 in our PFN Consensus Rankings this week.

However, this week, Allen is up against the Packers. The Packers are currently ranked the fifth-best defense against fantasy wide receivers, giving up just 23.2 fantasy points per game to wide receivers entering Week 11.

Allen comes into Week 11 ranked fifth among all wide receivers who have run routes 75% of snaps so far this season on fantasy points per route run. According to FantasyPoints data Allen is currently scoring 0.62 fantasy points per route run. Allen also has a 30.8% share of the Chargers’ team targets. Allen’s red-zone target share also stands at 36%.

The Chargers are without Gerald Everett this week due to injury, and Jalen Guyton is also on the injury report (groin).

There is no doubt that while this is a tougher matchup due to the Packers’ good record this week, it should not stop fantasy managers from starting Allen this week.

With Guyton only just back from injury himself, and with the Chargers already losing Mike Williams and Josh Palmer to season-ending injuries this season, the Chargers have been without a clear WR2. This has meant even more work coming Allen’s way. And he has certainly not disappointed fantasy managers as a result.

Allen has a WR1 floor with a top-three ceiling this week due to the number of targets heading his way. Not to mention, Justin Herbert is looking fully healthy at quarterback after suffering finger injuries early on in the season.

Therefore, as long as Allen suits up and plays today, fantasy managers must start Allen in all formats because he is likely to have a significant week in all scoring formats.

Is Carson Wentz Playing This Week? New Rams QB Officially On Depth Chart

0

Los Angeles Rams starting quarterback Matthew Stafford injured his right thumb during the team’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8. He missed the Week 9 game against the Green Bay Packers, and the team was on a bye last week.

A couple of days after the Packers game, the Rams signed Carson Wentz to be the backup quarterback for Stafford. Wentz is expected to be active for Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks, but Stafford is active and starting in this one.

Who Was the Los Angeles Rams’ Backup Quarterback?

After Stafford got hurt, Brett Rypien finished the game against the Cowboys and then started the following week against the Packers. Rypien went 13-of-28 for 130 pass yards, no touchdowns, and one interception in the 20-3 loss. He was released two days after the game and joined the Seahawks practice squad a few days later.

The Rams enter Week 12 two and a half games behind the Minnesota Vikings for the last NFC Wild Card spot. The team signed Wentz to provide more depth at the quarterback position. Stafford missed eight of the final nine games last season for the Rams.

Head coach Sean McVay said, “I think to have somebody that’s played as well as he’s played, has had as many experiences as he’s had to be out there and available is kind of rare. So we were excited about the opportunity to be able to get him into the building and that’s kind of where we’re at right now as it relates to that.”

When Was the Last Time Carson Wentz Played?

Wentz’s last NFL action came with the Washington Commanders in 2022, when he played in eight games. The former first-round pick started six games for Washington before breaking a finger and missing eight games. He returned to play in two of the final three games but sat out the season finale.

Wentz completed 62.3% of his passes for 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions in his only season with Washington. After playing for the Philadelphia Eagles for five seasons, he played one season with the Indianapolis Colts before moving on to the Commanders.

Wentz expressed interest in joining the New York Jets after Aaron Rodgers was injured in Week 1. The Jets preferred to stay with Zach Wilson, and Wentz stayed out of football until the Rams offered him a contract. NFL.com insider Ian Rapoport reported that Wentz checked in with the Jets one last time before officially signing with the Rams earlier this month.

A couple of days after Wentz signed with the Rams, his wife, Madison Oberg, gave birth to the couple’s third daughter. He talked with reporters about his crazy week with the Rams.

On Instagram, the new Rams QB opened up about the week he had while welcoming his new daughter.

“What a wild week it’s been, but I’m beyond grateful this little girl made her entrance into this crazy world at just the right time so I could be home for it! Gods timing is always perfect…. learning that more and more everyday,” he wrote.

“So thankful for my incredible wife and all she does for me and our 3 girlies! She was a rockstar once again! Welcome to our crazy fam and our crazy adventure, my sweet Hayes. We love you so much already!”

Is Matthew Stafford Playing This Week?

0

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is expected to start Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. Stafford has been out since suffering a right thumb injury during a Week 8 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Without Stafford, the Rams started Brett Rypien at quarterback against the Green Bay Packers in Week 9. Rypien completed 13-of-28 passes for 130 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception in the 20-3 loss to the Packers.

Two days after the game, Los Angeles released him, and later that week, he joined the Seahawks practice squad. The Rams had a bye last week and are ready to welcome Stafford back.

How Was Matthew Stafford Playing Before the Injury?

Stafford was not having one of his better seasons before hurting his thumb in Week 8. His 59.7% completion percentage was the lowest he’s had since the 2013 season when he was with the Detroit Lions. He’s averaging 258.8 pass yards per game with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions in eight games.

All-Pro wide receiver Cooper Kupp and Stafford have only played four games together this season after Kupp missed the first four games with a hamstring injury. The Rams are 3-6 on the season and two and a half games behind the Minnesota Vikings for the final NFC Wild Card spot.

This is Stafford’s third season with the Rams after playing 12 seasons with the Detroit Lions, the team that selected him first overall in the 2009 NFL Draft. Since winning Super Bowl LVI after the 2021 season, Stafford has completed 64% of his passes with 18 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in 17 games. His 2022 season was shortened to nine games because of a concussion and a neck injury.

Who Is Stafford’s Backup?

Carson Wentz was signed to be Stafford’s backup after the Rams lost to the Packers. He has not been with a team this season after being with the Washington Commanders in 2022.

The former first-round pick is in his eighth NFL season after spending five years with the Philadelphia Eagles and one each with the Indianapolis Colts and Commanders. He started the first six games last season with Washington before breaking a finger and missing eight games.

His first game after being injured was coming off the bench against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 16. It was the only NFL game played in Wentz’s career that he did not start.

According to NFL.com insider Ian Rapoport, Wentz checked to see if the New York Jets were interested in signing him before he signed with the Rams.

Earlier in the season, Wentz made the Jets aware he would be open to signing with the team after Aaron Rodgers was injured.

The Top TEs To Start in Week 11

Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals

Analysis by Derek Tate | The return of Kyler Murray under center immediately benefited Trey McBride, who produced eight receptions for 131 yards on nine targets against the Atlanta Falcons.

His 21 fantasy points in PPR formats marks the second time he has hit the 20-point threshold in two out of the last three games.

MORE: Fantasy News Tracker

If Murray’s one game is an indicator of things to come for the remainder of the 2023 season, then McBride is entering top-10 TE consideration every week moving forward.

Tyler Conklin, New York Jets

Analysis by Kyle Soppe | Nothing is exciting about Conklin, but on his way to clearing 55 yards for the fourth time in six games last week, he ran a route on 65.2% of Zach Wilson’s dropbacks.

Conklin’s not going to win you a week, but there’s a decent chance he holds service at the position. And if your team is strong elsewhere, that skill set holds value.

He’s not much different than Logan Thomas and is a viable streaming option if you’re stuck.
