Is Kyren Williams Injured? A Look at Why Blake Corum Has More Carries for Rams in Week 12 vs. Buccaneers

Kyren Williams has been a consistent presence for the Los Angeles Rams offense this season, which makes his slow start in Week 12 puzzling.

The Los Angeles Rams have gotten out to a solid start to the 2025 season with an 8-2 record through 11 weeks. After a big victory against the Seattle Seahawks gave them a cushion in the NFC West, the Rams are taking it to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, leading 31-7, in the first half of their Sunday Night Football matchup in Week 12.

While the Rams have gotten out to a blistering start in the first half, running back Kyren Williams has not contributed much to the offensive effort against the Buccaneers tonight. Let’s take a look at his slow start.

What Happened to Kyren Williams?

No, Williams is not hurt; in fact, he’s played in all eleven games for the Rams this season. While he’s been an explosive asset for the offense in many games this season, including rushing for 91 yards and a touchdown against the Seahawks a week ago, he hasn’t done much of anything against Tampa Bay tonight.

Through two quarters of action, Williams has rushed two times for three yards. He’s been outcarried by second-year running back Blake Corum, who has three carries for 21 yards. Quarterback Matthew Stafford has also targeted Williams, who hauled in the pass for two yards.

There’s no indication as to why Williams isn’t being utilized other than the fact that Stafford is firing on all cylinders, and the game script hasn’t fallen in Williams’ favor. The running back has turned 158 carries into 750 yards and six touchdowns, along with catching 23 passes for 182 yards and three more touchdowns. It’s a bit strange not to see him more involved in the Sunday Night Football matchup.

While the rushing attack has been quiet, that’s because it’s been all Stafford and the passing game. Heading into the locker room up 24, the veteran quarterback completed 19 of 23 passes for 210 yards and three touchdowns. The Rams have had a strong offense this season, ranking second in the NFL according to PFSN’s Offense Impact metric with an impact score of 87.8.

Williams has also impressed in 2025. According to PFSN’s RB Impact rating, the fourth-year back is the eighth-ranked running back in the NFL with an impact score of 84.1. The offense also gets a boost from Stafford, who ranks seventh in PFSN’s QB Impact rating and will likely climb the rankings after this impressive Sunday Night performance.

With such a big lead, will the Rams transition to more rushing plays in the second half, or will they continue to let Stafford deal with the offense red-hot?
