Brian Daboll Coaching Career
Daboll played football at Saint Francis High School in Athol Springs, New York, and then started at safety for the University of Rochester. He transitioned to coaching after college, getting his first coaching opportunities at William & Mary and Michigan State.
In 2000, Daboll was hired by the New England Patriots. He would stay with the Patriots from 2000 to 2006 (and then return from 2013 through 2016), moving from a defensive assistant to wide receivers coach to tight ends coach. He won five Super Bowls as a member of the Patriots' coaching staff and gained valuable experience under Bill Belichick.
After a stint with the New York Jets as their quarterbacks coach, Daboll became an offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Buffalo Bills.
With the Bills from 2018 through 2021, he played a crucial role in developing quarterback Josh Allen and helping him emerge as a superstar. Daboll was named the AP NFL Assistant Coach of the Year in 2020 for his work with Allen and the Bills.
On Jan. 28, 2022, the Giants hired Daboll to become their next head coach, replacing Joe Judge. In 2022, in his first season as a head coach, Daboll won the AP NFL Coach of the Year award after leading the Giants to a 9-7 record and a Wild Card victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
