Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark is starting to find her rhythm as the team looks to put together a winning streak early in the current WNBA season. A big part of the Fever’s title hopes this season also hinge on the play of all-star center Aliyah Boston. The number one overall picks have quickly developed a close bond as teammates, which is why Clark laughed while Boston recently described an infamous part of her game.
Aliyah Boston Hilariously Discusses Caitlin Clark’s Ref Crash Outs
Clark was a guest on the “Post Moves Show” with Boston and WNBA legend Candice Parker, where the two all-stars discussed their frustrations with the referees at times. Boston said “Caitlin’s crash outs, like she will, like you talk about me, she will keep going. She’ll like walk up to them and be like, are you kidding me? And I’ll be like Caitlin, and I have to grab her and we have to walk away.
Boston added “And then I’m like grabbing her and she’s turning around to look at them and she’s still talking smack.”
A fiery competitor, Clark’s frequent complaints to the refs over foul calls have become a signature part of her game. She received multiple technical fouls in college for outspoken complaints and has already received nine so far in her short WNBA career.
Clark is constantly facing intense defensive pressure due to her reputation as an explosive scorer who can take over games when she’s on a hot streak. Opposing teams try to be physical when guarding Clark, which she believes results in her getting fouled. Clark also frequently voices her opinion on the refs calling her for fouls.
While some of Clark’s complaints are considered valid, she’s also been accused of whining and crashing out at the refs simply because she’s not playing well. An infamous moment while Clark was playing in college occured as national television cameras caught Clark’s father telling her to stop complaining and start playing better.
While Boston is also a strong-willed competitor, she’s viewed as an ideal star teammate alongside Clark because of her more even-keeled personality. Boston gets frustrated at times, but rarely takes her complaints over the edge, something Clark is constantly fighting.

Clark has bounced back from a rough opening game and is now fifth in the league in scoring at 24.3 points per game, while leading the league with nine assists per game. She recently broke the WNBA record for most games with at least 20 points and 10 assists.
Boston made headlines recently for missing the first game of her career with a leg injury. Boston is one of the league’s top post players, so the Fever hope she’ll return to full strength as soon as possible. There’s also the added element of shielding Clark’s inevitable next crash out.
