A highly anticipated grudge match between the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky promised fireworks but ended up delivering a one-sided basketball clinic.
Caitlin Clark and the Fever walked into Wintrust Arena on Sunday night and bounced back from their two-game losing streak with a 113-90 blowout victory. The dominant road win silenced a raucous crowd hoping for a down-to-the-wire battle.
Clark posted a monster double-double, while Chicago guard DiJonai Carrington turned in a dismal performance when her team needed her most.

The intense buildup to Sunday’s clash centered on the bad blood from two weeks prior. During their Aug. 8 meeting, Carrington was ejected for a Flagrant 2 foul for excessive contact on Indiana’s Sophie Cunningham during a fast break.
Carrington doubled down after the ejection, taking to social media to post “WHITE PRIVILEGE” and tagging the Fever organization. She leaned into the drama and publicly marked the Aug. 23 rematch date on her calendar.
Naturally, the buildup around the game was red hot, with many expecting the Sky guard to back up her digital trash talk with her on-court production.
However, that statement performance never materialized, as Carrington logged just 18 minutes, recording 7 points on an inefficient 3-for-11 shooting from the floor. She added 3 rebounds and 1 assist, posting a minus-5 plus-minus.
Carrington’s underwhelming output marked a stark contrast to the online persona she built in the days leading up to tipoff, and social media wasted no time in calling it out.
Parody account BrickCenter highlighted the Sky guard’s modest production, writing, “She had this game circled on her calendar.”

“I’m glad Carrington circled this game on the calendar. Her 7 points on 3-11 shooting has the Sky down just 23 points instead of 30,” Sports Illustrated’s Alex Golden quipped.
“DiJonai Carrington and that ‘revenge game’ just to take the L ðŸ˜Looking real [expletive] now,” one WNBA observer posted.
“3/11 with 7 points while Clark dropped 37 and 10. Carrington more focused on getting viral moments than playing the sport of basketball. Embarrassing,” one user remarked.

“Carrington circled this game on her schedule why???? She’s 3/11 with 7 points lol,” another wrote.
Besides the subpar production, Carrington also drew ire for trying to rile up Clark during the second quarter, with the Fever superstar paying no heed to the Sky guard’s antics.
Clark, to her credit, played on a different level, shredding Chicago’s defensive game plan with 37 points and 10 assists. The three-time All-Star manipulated ball screens with ease and punished the Sky defenders from well beyond the arc.
Clark hit a career-high 8 3-pointers, anchoring a franchise-record 18 made 3s for Indiana.
With Sunday’s lopsided result, Indiana closed out its road trip with three wins in five games, reversing the momentum of its two-game skid as the playoffs loom.
