Taylor played several sports as a youth, ultimately deciding on tennis, where he earned a college scholarship. While in college, Taylor was motivated to pursue sports journalism, earning opportunities to cover the NBA, NFL, MLB, tennis, and boxing among other sports at Bleacher Report in 2012 and The Sportster in 2024.
