‘Generational,’ ‘Just Absurd’ — LeBron James, Sports World Erupt As Caitlin Clark Makes ‘Staggering’ WNBA History vs. Sky

Caitlin Clark drops 37 points and makes WNBA history as LeBron James and the sports world erupt over her stunning performance vs. Sky

Caitlin Clark turned Wintrust Arena into her own personal shooting gallery Sunday. The Indiana Fever guard erupted for 37 points, knocked down eight 3-pointers, and handed out 10 assists against the Chicago Sky.

Her spectacular performance set social media ablaze, while LeBron James and the broader sports world showered Clark with well-deserved praise.

Caitlin Clark’s Historic Night Leaves Sports World Awestruck

Clark wasted little time reminding Chicago that she was locked in, putting together a historic shooting performance that included eight makes from deep and set a new career high.

Clark’s final stat line also pushed her into another statistical category that has become increasingly difficult to ignore. She now has more games with at least 30 points and 10 assists than every other player in WNBA history combined.

Real App also highlighted another remarkable number that puts her third on the WNBA’s all-time list for seasons reaching that milestone.

That combination of volume and playmaking sent reactions pouring across social media for the three-time All-Star.

King James was among the first to react via Instagram. He kept his message short, but the praise carried plenty of weight.

ESPN’s Sam Block was even more emphatic: “Any word other than generational is an insult.”

Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III went much further, placing Clark in a class of her own:

“The WNBA has never seen anything like Caitlin Clark. Olivia Miles is the WNBA Rookie of the Year. Kelsey Mitchell is the best scorer in the WNBA. A’ja Wilson is the best player in the WNBA. Caitlin Clark is the Most Valuable Player in the WNBA. Caitlin Clark has more 30+ point and 10+ assists games in her career than the rest of the WNBA has in league history. She’s only been in the WNBA for 3 years and missed almost all of last season. Caitlin Clark haters gotta just accept that she really like that.”

One Clark supporter marveled at the efficiency behind Clark’s scoring explosion, exclaiming,

“Caitlin Clark….Simply unconscious tonight…”

“Putting up 37 and 10 while standing alone in the history books for that kind of stat line is just absurd. I didn’t know anyone was going to pull away from the rest of the league like that statistically. Absolute dominance from Caitlin Clark,” X user @LouXpress gushed.

Another fan, Maria Mel, praised the combination of Clark’s scoring and vision:

“REDEFINING RANGE AND PLAYMAKING STANDARDS 🎯📈 Caitlin Clark delivering a staggering 37-point, 10-assist performance alongside eight three-pointers highlights the generational impact she brings to the WNBA…”

“CAITLIN CLARK WAS UNSTOPPABLE, 37 points, 10 assists and a career-high 8 threes! She was literally a flamethrower against the Sky,” @KnockoutVault acknowledged.

The attention surrounding Clark came as another storyline competed for the spotlight. Former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom was ejected after a confrontation with Sky guard Natasha Cloud, sparking a separate wave of controversy during the game.

Clark and the Fever, however, remained unfazed by the noise.

Kelsey Mitchell again supported Clark heavily with 30 points, while Makayla Timpson and Lexie Hull chipped in 12 and 14, respectively. Indiana pulled away for a 113-90 victory, snapping its two-game losing streak.

The result gave the Fever a much-needed win, but Clark’s performance was the real spectacle.
