‘Cleveland Weather Gods Are Sabotaging Shedeur Sanders’ — Browns Fans Have Hilarious Reaction to Lightning Delay in Bills Preseason Game

The weather in Cleveland seemed to get worse and worse, resulting in a lightning delay before Shedeur Sanders stepped on the field vs. the Bills.

The second week of the preseason is already underway, and just like any other year, there are crazy moments throughout. Of course, one of the most interesting teams in the league, the Cleveland Browns, is the latest to be a part of these moments.

Against the Buffalo Bills, the weather in Cleveland seemed to get worse and worse, resulting in a lightning delay.

NFL World Reacts to Cleveland Browns vs. Buffalo Bills Having a Weather Delay

In this game between the Bills and Browns, all eyes were on Cleveland’s QB battle. Last season, there was a revolving door at QB for the Browns, and it ended up with then-rookie Shedeur Sanders becoming the starter. It wasn’t perfect, with Sanders finishing 37th, second-worst in the league, in PFN’s QB Impact Metric, but he had some bright moments that could excite a new HC.

When the Browns hired their new coach, Todd Monken, no clear direction was given at QB, and during training camp, it was a wide-open battle among Sanders, Deshaun Watson, Dillon Gabriel, and rookie Taylen Green.

With there only being two games and a starter not yet named, every snap is significant for these players, but it seems like the weather doesn’t want that to happen.

After the delay was announced, the NFL World reacted in some very amusing ways:

One Browns fan joked that the weather gods in Cleveland may be at fault, and it’s because they don’t want to see Shedeur succeed. The fan wrote, “Cleveland weather Gods are sabotaging Shedeur.”

Another Browns fan joined the weather gods joke, “Weather gods putting some shade on Shedeur Sanders.”

One fan playfully pointed out that the weather has joined the group of people that want to see Sanders fail, “Even the weather is trying to ruin Shedeur Sanders moment to shine!”

A member of the Browns radio team revealed that, in her 9 years working there, this is only the second time they have had a weather delay. Meredith wrote, “9 years with Browns radio and this is only the second time we’ve had a weather delay.”

One fan brought up the conversation of an enclosed stadium for the Brown’s next home, which is set to happen in 2029. The fan said, “The amount of Cleveland Browns games with less than desirable weather is astonishing at times. Can’t blame too many people for wanting a dome.”

Another fan poked fun at fans that want the team to stay in an open stadium: “Ahhh lovely. Browns home game, horrible weather. My weather truthers out there will tell you “yes! This is real football. Can’t wait to watch Shedeur have the ball slip six times when he’s trying to prove he can be a starter.”

The fun part about preseason is that the disappointment from a weather delay will not be as strong as it is during the regular season, but it’s still not a great outcome. This Browns QB competition is close, and the coaching staff must see more from these players.

Hopefully, the weather will clear up, and this game will start again. If it does, it’ll be very exciting to see what happens in the QB battle.
