Quarterback Shedeur Sanders is getting the start on Saturday for the Cleveland Browns in an NFL preseason game against the Buffalo Bills, but a number of starters are not going to be on the field when he’s running the offense.
Fans who attend the game at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland are going to see Sanders attempt to solidify a spot as the No. 1 quarterback before the regular season opener.
Lack of Starters Around Shedeur Sanders Draws NFL Fans’ Ire
While some people who watch the NFL religiously might not care who plays with Sanders on Saturday, others have strong opinions, believing the former Colorado star is not being given a fair shot to compete with Deshaun Watson.
One fan wrote online, “That (expletive) so odd lol, we know who gone start Week 1 smh; did the same (expletive) to him last year”. Another fan reacted this way: “So weird of them lol they hate Shedeur”.

This fan didn’t name the Browns specifically in his comments, but the team’s decisions regarding starters playing with Sanders are evident. The fan wrote, “Like what is this they literally hate the kid why lol”.

For this fan, the target of his disdain pointed right toward Browns owner Jimmy Haslam. Check out what the fan said here: “Sounds like typical Jimmy Haslam meddling because he wants his $250M bust QB (Watson) to start the season. Browns will never be relevant with that conman as owner.”

What type of competition is this between Sanders and Watson for the QB1 job in Cleveland? This fan called out what he sees happening at this time: “So it’s a performative competition and interesting KC may be ahead of Boston then”.

Another fan appears to imply that the Browns’ quarterback competition might not be a competition at all. The fan posted online, “Shedeur will be out there with scrubs … So much for a ‘qb competition.'”

Let’s see what Sanders, who ranked as the second-worst quarterback in the NFL last season, according to PFN’s QB Impact Metric, can do on the field Saturday.
Maybe he comes out and plays better than last week, making the QB1 battle not entirely a done deal.
