Aaron Jones Sr. Injury Update: What’s the Latest on the Vikings RB and Will He Play in Week 14?

The Vikings put forth a poor effort on offense in Week 13, and things got even worse after veteran running back Aaron Jones Sr. went down.

The Minnesota Vikings traveled to Seattle to take on the Seahawks in NFL Week 13, and it wasn’t pretty. The Vikings were unable to do anything on offense with undrafted rookie Max Brosmer at the helm, and the team lost by a score of 26-0.

The passing offense was ineffective, but the ground game also failed to develop. Things got even more bleak when veteran running back Aaron Jones went down with an injury in the third quarter and didn’t return. Here’s the latest on his injury.

Will Aaron Jones Sr. Play in Week 14?

The injury occurred when Jones was fighting for extra yardage in the third quarter. Jones landed awkwardly on his shoulder and was in evident distress.

On Monday, NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Vikings “do not believe” that Jones’ injury is serious. Per Schefter, Jones will likely be considered day-to-day ahead of the team’s Week 14 matchup against the Washington Commanders.

Before the injury, Jones rushed six times for just three yards. The veteran also caught four passes for 22 yards before leaving the game.

It wasn’t just Jones who struggled for the Vikings on Sunday. The team ended with just 66 total rushing yards, and Brosmer threw for just 126 yards with zero touchdowns and four interceptions.

The team could certainly use Jones for Week 14. Jordan Mason has taken over as the team’s lead back, but Jones still contributes as a pass catcher and change-of-pace back. PFSN’s RB Impact ranking gives Jones a 77.3 grade for his 2025 performance so far.

If Jones can’t go in Week 14, the team will likely turn to Zavier Scott for more snaps. Scott took three carries for 17 yards against the Seahawks and has played primarily on special teams this season.

Minnesota Vikings Continue to Struggle in 2025

Following the disappointing Week 13 loss, the Vikings’ record dropped to 4-8 on the season. The team is buried in the basement of the tough NFC North, and it’s hard to see much improvement coming over the final stretch of the season.

In PFSN’s Offense Impact ranking, the Vikings are 29th in the league with a 61.5 grade. Only the Las Vegas Raiders, Tennessee Titans, and Cleveland Browns have had worse offenses in 2025.

It’s disappointing that the offense has been so bad because the defense has largely been great. PFSN’s Defense Impact ranking has the Vikings ranked 6th in the league with an 82.2 grade.

The team faces the Commanders in Week 14 and still has two more games against NFC North foes.
