Cowboys Legend Speculates Max Brosmer Is ‘Trying To Get Benched’ After Vikings QB’s Error vs. Seahawks

Cowboys legend took to social media to rip Minnesota Vikings quarterback after a puzzling turnover in Week 13 against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Minnesota Vikings are in Seattle to take on old friend Sam Darnold and the Seahawks. The Vikings have a disappointing 4-7 record entering the contest, while the Seahawks are sitting at 8-3 and looking to capitalize on the Rams’ loss earlier on Sunday.

The Vikings were forced to start undrafted rookie Max Brosmer at quarterback after J.J. McCarthy was unable to clear concussion protocol. The rookie’s first start hasn’t gone well so far, and one former NFL star took to social media to question Brosmer.

Dez Bryant is Not Impressed With Max Brosmer’s Debut

Brosmer and the Vikings were unable to get anything going in the first quarter. The team punted on all three offensive possessions in the first, and then punted on their first drive of the second quarter as well.

However, during the team’s second drive of the second quarter, disaster struck. The Seahawks fumbled and set the Vikings up in perfect position to add their first point of the game. Instead, on 4th and 1, Brosmer faced pressure, and instead of taking the sack, he threw the ball into the air, which was intercepted and returned for an 84-yard touchdown.

After that play, Dez Bryant took to X to criticize the play. Bryant made three Pro Bowls in his career and is one of the best receivers in Cowboys’ history. “Say.. QB Brosmer trying to get benched.. he trippin,” Bryant said with laughing emojis.

It’s a common mistake that young quarterbacks make. Instead of simply living with the sack, they try to make something out of nothing, and it almost always backfires. It is worth mentioning that it was fourth down, so if Brosmer had taken the sack, it would have given the Seahawks the ball. However, that still would have been preferable to a pick-six.

That play put the Seahawks up 10-0, and the team added another field goal to make it a 13-0 game at the half.

Vikings Struggling Due to Quarterback Injuries

It’s been a tough season at the quarterback spot in Minnesota. McCarthy started the first two games of the season and led the Vikings to a 1-1 start. However, the Michigan product suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 2, and Carson Wentz started the next five games.

Wentz went 2-3 in his five starts before being added to injured reserve with a shoulder injury. McCarthy was able to return, but he’s struggled in Wentz’s place and is now injured once again.

PFSN’s QB Impact ranking gives McCarthy a 52.5 grade for his 2025 performance, which is the third-worst mark among qualified passers. The hope was that Brosmer would keep the team afloat, but the rookie has also struggled so far.
