Cowboys Legend Troy Aikman Pushes Jason Kelce To Make Stunning NFL Return Amid Eagles’ Issues on Offense

Troy Aikman revealed one way the Philadelphia Eagles can turn around their season, and it involves the franchise's legendary center

The Philadelphia Eagles are scrambling to find an identity after their Monday night loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Nick Sirianni’s team has lost three straight games and needs to stay afloat to win the NFC East for a second straight year.

Ironically, a Dallas Cowboys legend, Troy Aikman, believes one legendary center could play a crucial role in propelling the Eagles back into NFC contention, even though there’s little to no chance this player will return.

Troy Aikman Believes Jason Kelce Could Help the Philadelphia Eagles Turn Around Their Season

Jason Kelce has enjoyed a fruitful career since his retirement two years ago. The future Hall of Fame center is now a prominent media personality, working as a TV analyst for ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown while also co-hosting the popular New Heights podcast with his brother, Travis. At the same time, Kelce is also a father of four, which is a full-time job unto itself.

With all his success and the lack of physical punishment it entails, the former seven-time Pro Bowler has stated frequently that he has no desire to return to the gridiron. Nonetheless, during the Eagles’ 22-19 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, Aikman argued that the struggling franchise should continue to call the former Super Bowl champ.

“I would be surprised if they haven’t already sometime this year. I mean, even last year, I think I’d be knocking on his door every week to try to get him to come back. He can still do it.”

Turnovers plagued the defending champs on Monday night as Jalen Hurts threw four interceptions while his team dropped to 8-5 overall. This season, Hurts has seen a downward trend in his performance. The PFSN’s QB metric ranks him 13th as well with a C+ grade.

On a positive note, Saquon Barkley had his second-best rushing performance of the year, which was the identity of this team in 2024.

Overall, despite their standing in the NFC East, the vibes are certainly not high in the City of Brotherly Love. The Eagles’ offense in particular has struggled with pre-snap penalties and a lack of game-day energy that a player like Kelce would help address, even at 38 years old.

But Kelce doesn’t owe this franchise anything at this point, and the Eagles still have the potential to become an NFC contender again. Fortunately, three of the last four games should be very winnable for the defending champs.
