What Happened to Jason Kelce? A Look at What the Eagles Legend Is up to Now

Jason Kelce earned legendary status after a great career with the Eagles and has been making off-field appearances ever since his retirement.

A cornerstone of the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive line for more than a decade, Jason Kelce retired in March 2024 after determining lingering elbow and knee issues made it unrealistic to keep playing at his standard. His decision closed a celebrated career and opened a busier, less regimented chapter balancing media work, health goals, and family life.

When Did Jason Kelce Retire From the NFL?

Kelce announced his retirement in early March 2024, saying he felt confident it was time because recovery was no longer keeping pace with the position’s demands, even if a drop‑off had not yet appeared on game day. He cited deterioration in his elbow and knees, as well as the risk of not being the player he had expected himself to be.

His 40‑minute farewell underscored the connection to the city and team. Kelce wore an Eagles tank top and asked longtime trainer Joe O’Pella to tape his ankles one last time, a gesture made more poignant because O’Pella had missed the 2023 season while undergoing cancer treatment. The scene reflected a career that included a Super Bowl LII title, multiple All‑Pro and Pro Bowl selections, and a defining role as the Eagles’ line anchor.

More on Kelce’s Life After NFL

Kelce continues co‑hosting the “New Heights Show” with brother Travis while leaning into a deliberate health plan. In March 2024, he set a post‑career goal of 250 pounds and said he would track calories, maintain a high protein intake, and avoid extreme diets to shed weight safely.

By June 2025, he reported being around 277, nearly 20 pounds down from his long‑time playing weight of about 295, and noted his back and knees already felt better.

Kelce’s family grew with the March 30, 2025, arrival of his fourth daughter, Finnley “Finn” Anne Kelce, and he has continued to share parts of his fitness journey. He also briefly dyed his gray beard dark for a brand bit and admitted the result looked too strong, saying he missed the grays and would let it grow back. These light moments have accompanied a broader transition to life off the field.

Kelce has been candid about how his schedule changed after football. “I’m like, I’m around more, but it’s more chaotic,” he explained. “When you play football, it’s, like, very militaristic with the schedule. So you know when you’re busy, when you’re not. Whereas now I feel like I’m kinda, like, all over.”

He said obligations sometimes pull him away even when he is home, but he values small routines with his children. “In some ways, it feels like, even when I’m home, I’m getting pulled in other directions, which kinda takes it away a little bit,” he admitted. “But, yeah, I mean, dropping the girls off at school, being able to do that, pick them up. Yeah. For sure. I think that being around the family is where it’s at.”

Kelce acknowledged he misses the daily rhythm of the team and being around teammates. “I miss being around my football family. I’m not gonna lie,” he said. “Like, I miss being around those guys, but being able to be around the kids, be around Kylie more [is great] for sure.” He has continued visiting the facility and contributing where he can while prioritizing life at home.

From taped ankles at a retirement podium to calorie tracking on his phone, Kelce’s post‑NFL chapter blends sentiment and structure. It focuses on family, health, and a media platform that keeps him connected to the sport and city he helped define. The transition reflects the same accountability that marked his career, now applied to a different kind of schedule.
