Packers Floated As Trade Destination for $35,374,742 WR To Replace Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks

A proposed Marvin Harrison Jr. trade to the Packers could give Jordan Love a dynamic weapon and revive the young WR’s career.

The Green Bay Packers’ wide receiving room looks quite different from last year. Romeo Doubs is now a New England Patriot, and Dontayvion Wicks recently got traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. Matthew Golden is presumed to be the No. 1 receiver, but there is another young option the Packers could pair with him.

How a Marvin Harrison Jr. Trade Could Boost Jordan Love

Marvin Harrison Jr. ended his second year with the Arizona Cardinals with a C grade and a No. 49 ranking according to PFSN’s NFL WR Impact Metrics. There is a chance Harrison could improve with the Cardinals. However, he could also get traded to reach his potential coming out of Ohio State.

Fox Sports NFL reporter Ralph Vacchiano suggested that Harrison be traded to the Packers. “They have the same situation at WR as usual, good depth, decent players, but no apparent No. 1. And they let their best receiver (Romeo Doubs) go while only bringing in Skyy Moore. Harrison has been a disappointment with the Cardinals, but that could be all about their miserable quarterback situation. Pair him with Jordan Love, and his numbers should soar.

“It would be a big deal, and complicated by the fact that the Packers don’t have a first-rounder again until 2028. But Matt LaFleur could ask his old boss, Sean McVay, about why players are more important than those pesky high picks. Then he could call his brother Mike, the new coach in Arizona, and get this deal done.”

Harrison signed a four-year, $35,374,742 contract with the Cardinals. However, the Packers have $22,015,250 available in cap space, so they could afford Harrison’s contract.

With a combined age of 45, Harrison and Golden would make a great, young, dynamic receiving duo. Both bring different strengths to the receiver position. Harrison’s route running, paired with Golden’s speed and agility, could make for a unique tandem, especially in the NFC North.

The NFC North has teams with many versatile playmakers, such as the Detroit Lions, who paired the speedy Jahmyr Gibbs and the tough Amon-Ra St. Brown. Having a versatile duo could help the Packers keep pace in a very tough division.

Another element that could help Harrison reach his potential is playing with a great quarterback. Jordan Love had a B+ grade and ranked fourth according to PFSN’s NFL QB Impact Metrics.

Love and Harrison could also be a great duo. Love has a very quick release that could pair well with Harrison’s ability to get open quickly, thanks to his separation while route running.

Green Bay has also seen the rise and redemption of another route-running receiver in Davante Adams. Adams made a name for himself as one of the best wideouts in the NFL, but it took a while to get there. Initially, there was talk that Adams was a bust.

Green Bay has shown it has the infrastructure to help a receiver like Harrison. If the Packers could pull off a Harrison trade, it could be a great move for Green Bay’s future.
