The Denver Broncos play the Las Vegas Raiders for a second time in Week 14. The first time around, the latter won 10-7. This time around, Broncos quarterback Bo Nix will look to continue establishing the pass. He has back-to-back 300-plus scrimmage yard games. In fact, we think Nix will total at least three touchdowns for the fifth time this season. Let’s go.
The Broncos Win if the Offense Doesn’t Play With Its Food
The Raiders’ matchup in Week 14 is a knockdown jumpshot. Broncos offense, make the shot. The Broncos’ offense is No. 14 in PFSN’s Offense Impact Score, while the Raiders’ defense is No. 23 in PFSN’s Defense Impact Score.
Nix is coming off back-to-back 300-plus scrimmage yard games and 35-plus pass attempts in three of his past five games. He has just one touchdown in the two 300-plus scrimmage yard games, though, and just three touchdowns in the three 35-plus attempt games. Nix is ready to explode, and Week 14 is the week the Broncos’ offense — finally — doesn’t play with its food. He’ll total at least three touchdowns this week. Wheels up for Nix in fantasy football.
The Broncos Lose if the Defense Doesn’t Contain Brock Bowers
Cornerback Pat Surtain II missed the first matchup vs. the Raiders in Week 10, but he’s back for the second matchup in Week 14. The Raiders’ offense’s only chance to score points is by featuring tight end Brock Bowers. That said, in Week 10, Bowers was held to one reception on three targets for 31 yards. The Broncos should run back the same defensive game plan from Week 10.
Surtain II should line up directly across from Bowers. The Broncos’ defense, meanwhile, should run dime disguised as nickel. The Raiders’ offense has no legitimate threat at wide receiver since trading Jakobi Meyers to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Broncos’ defense, meanwhile, is No. 2 in PFSN’s Defense Impact Score, while the Raiders’ offense is No. 30 in PFSN’s Offense Impact Score.
Prediction: Broncos 27–16
Nix accounts for all three of the Broncos’ touchdowns, while newly extended kicker Will Lutz connects on two field goals late in the second half while ahead. The Raiders’ offense will only score one touchdown in Week 14.
