    How Tall Is Kyle McCord?

The quarterback measured 6’3″ at the 2025 NFL Draft Combine, which is above the average NFL quarterback’s 6’0″ height.

His height has helped him beat the blitz and throw catchable deep fades when paired with his arm strength.

    How Much Does McCord Weigh?

McCord weighs 218 pounds, above the average 214-217-pound weight range of an NFL quarterback.

    How Old Is Kyle McCord?

Born on September 19, 2002, McCord is 23 years old, which falls within the standard 22-23 age range for NFL players entering the league.

Which School Did McCord Go To?

McCord attended St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, despite being a New Jersey native. In his senior year, he was named the Gatorade Player of the Year and completed his high school career with 6,887 passing yards with 88 touchdowns and a Philadelphia Catholic League record.

McCord was widely considered a five-star recruit and top-25 overall prospect nationally. The quarterback committed to Ohio State over his scholarship offers from Texas A&M, Penn State, Mississippi State, and Michigan State.

Later, he transferred to Syracuse for the last year of his college career.

    Revisiting the QB’s College Career

Although McCord was C.J. Stroud’s backup in his first season, he was named the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week with appearances in five games. He remained Stroud’s backup in the following year as well before becoming the starter for 12 games in his third year.

Later, he transferred to Syracuse, where he was named the immediate starter, and it proved to be an incredible decision for incoming head coach Fran Brown. McCord broke several records in his lone season with the Orange as the Second-Team All-ACC and Holiday Bowl Offensive MVP.

He also led the FBS with an ACC record of 4,779 passing yards and a school record of 391 completions, and he ranked fifth with a school record of 34 passing touchdowns.

How Fast Was McCord’s 40-Yard Dash?

McCord did not participate in the 40-yard dash at the 2025 NFL Combine.

    NFL Outlook and Scouting Report

McCord is mixed into a strong group of mid-round quarterbacks, making his range span as high as the middle of the second round to the middle of the fifth round.

PFSN’s 2025 NFL Mock Draft projects McCord as a fourth-round prospect, coming off the board as the No. 123 pick overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He could be a savvy pickup for a team in need of a mid-round quarterback, but scheme fit will be vital for his success.

McCord is a polished, mature prospect with the potential to win games early in his NFL career, provided he lands in the right system with a strong quarterback coach and a solid supporting cast. He operates with smooth efficiency and a cerebral approach — two highly coveted traits for a quarterback.

He demonstrates a strong understanding of coverages and defensive responsibilities. He consistently makes solid pre-snap reads, quickly identifying mismatches and exploiting them after the snap. His ability to process information quickly enables him to navigate through progressions efficiently, all while taking excellent care of the football.

While McCord has a strong track record of success, he needs to continue refining his deep ball to become a prolific passer in the NFL. He excels in the short-to-intermediate range, but his deep ball leaves much to be desired. When throwing the deep ball, it is too often inaccurate or lacks the power necessary for success in the NFL.
It simply takes too long. His passes can lack the necessary power or precision. This could be a mechanical issue, as his lower body often operates half a second ahead of his upper body, which diminishes the power generated from his legs and leaves only the arm to supply the force.

An old adage among NFL scouts is that if he’s done it once, he can do it again. McCord has shown the ability to throw deep balls with accuracy, velocity, and solid mechanics, which suggests he could refine the skill further. However, it’s not yet consistent enough to be considered a reliable part of his game, hindering his draft stock.

The Syracuse star is likely to be a product of the system he lands in. While he doesn’t possess overwhelming physical traits or a howitzer for an arm, he has the skills to thrive if placed in the right system.
