The great Drew Brees is now officially a Hall of Famer, marking another major moment in his remarkable career.
During the ceremony, fans also got to see his bond with his wife, Brittany Brees. So, how did their journey begin?
Who Is Drew Brees’ Wife, Brittany?
Brees married his college sweetheart, Brittany, on Feb. 8, 2003. Since then, the former New Orleans Saints quarterback and his wife have built a lasting relationship that has stayed away from the public dating eye.
Together, they have four children: three sons, Baylen, Bowen, and Callen, along with their daughter, Rylen.
Their story began in 1999 when both attended Purdue University as student-athletes. However, Brees did not exactly make a smooth first impression.
On his 20th birthday, he had a few too many drinks and delivered what he later called a “cheesy football line.” The awkward moment embarrassed him so much that he stayed away from Brittany for six months.
“I made a real fool of myself when I first met her,” Drew told ESPN in 2002. “It was when I was a sophomore. It was my 20th birthday, and I’d had about 17 shots and put my foot in my mouth. It was a typical football player cheesy line; we’ll leave it at that. It took me six months to get the courage to talk to her again. I finagled my way to get invited to a party that I knew she’d be at.”

Eventually, that plan gave him another chance to win her over. Once Brees finally found the courage to ask Brittany out, the two quickly became close.
“He asked me out, and all my girlfriends wanted to come with,” Brittany revealed in the same interview. “You know, because he was that guy who had made such a fool of himself. So he brought some of his football friends, and we went to the movies. And his friends started throwing Gummy Bears at the screen!”
Despite that chaotic first date, the relationship clearly had something special.
Throughout Brees’ legendary 20-year NFL career, Brittany remained his strongest support system and regularly stood beside him at games.
Beyond their family life, Drew Brees and Brittany Brees have also built a major philanthropic legacy through the Brees Dream Foundation.

They launched the organization in 2003 to honor Brittany’s aunt, who died of cancer. Since then, the foundation has donated more than $45 million worldwide. The couple has focused on that support for cancer patients while also creating better educational opportunities for underprivileged children.
That commitment became especially meaningful in Louisiana. The couple helped fund inclusive public playgrounds across the state and partnered with Ochsner Health on a $5 million commitment for community healthcare clinics.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, they also helped provide millions of meals to families facing difficult circumstances. Their work has made their impact extend far beyond football.
Since the NFL legend’s retirement, Drew and Brittany have continued to call New Orleans home. Now, they enjoy a quieter routine, including weekly hikes and daytime dates while their children attend school.
