Everyone is weighing in on the scandal involving NFL reporter Dianna Russini and New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel. Even during the 2026 NFL Draft, the controversy dominated headlines, as it has transcended sports and become mainstream news.
Now, former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Emmanuel Acho shared his thoughts on the latest developments in the saga, and he didn’t mince words about Russini.
Emmanuel Acho Slams Dianna Russini’s ‘Obsession’ With Patriots HC Mike Vrabel
Russini has received the bulk of the backlash for this situation, especially as strange tweets and old clips disparaging her husband have come to light. On “Speakeasy,” Acho became the latest to bash Russini for her role in this scandal after laying out the recent bombshells.
Acho, in a recent segment on his show “Speakeasy,” said he doesn’t expect Vrabel to face any punishment for this whole scandal, and he came down hard on Russini.
“No [he won’t], because crazy enough, Russini just appears to be a crazy person,” Acho said. “She has a child named Mike, strike No. 1. She had a playlist that was created, apparently, off of this four-game losing streak [with the Titans] that she sent to Mike… Married people cheat… She named a child after [the man she had an alleged affair with].”
More and more details continue to surface on the scandal. Page Six published photos of the coach and reporter allegedly kissing six years ago, revealing the extent of this relationship.
Former NFL All-Pro Marcellus Wiley criticized key elements in the scandal, citing lies as the central factor in everything that went wrong.
“We gotta slap ourselves when we lie,” Wiley said on “Dat Dude TV.” “And we all lie, trust me. If we’re caught slipping, the first thing is, ‘Is this lie gonna work, because I don’t wanna deal with these consequences?’ Once you realize, and hopefully you’ve got a better ‘Spidey Sense’ than Dianna, you realize this ain’t gonna work.
“Sometimes you just know you can’t lie…. In this situation, the lies are the problem. This story could’ve been dead by now. I really think it could’ve been dead because the draft would take over, but instead, you dismissed us, you laughed at us for just being curious.”
Vrabel and Russini’s connection allegedly dates back about six years, to when the former was still coaching the Tennessee Titans.
Vrabel isn’t expected to suffer significant career damage, as the Patriots have stood behind him publicly and the NFL has insisted that they won’t be investigating this situation since they are viewing it as a personal matter. Russini, on the other hand, recently resigned from The Athletic amid the scandal and it remains to be seen what’s next for her in terms of her career.
“I do know some people that have talked to Dianna, and this has been a horrific experience for her, like, life-altering in a negative way,” NFL legend Cris Carter recently added. “And it shouldn’t be that way. And the only reason that it is, is because she’s a female. This is a male-dominated world.
“No one was surprised by the information. But to have her life altered and destroyed over having an affair with an NFL coach — I don’t care if he was a school teacher — that shouldn’t ruin or alter her career, and it has. So that’s why I’ll be very sensitive about the things that I do say because I know the trauma that she has gone through, and is going through on a daily basis, it’s real.
“Her life will never ever be the same,” he said. “And Vrabel’s life, personally, it might not be the same, but his football career won’t be altered. He should be getting some counseling anyway. But from a Robert Kraft standpoint, he’s not gonna change his contract.”
Vrabel and Russini are hoping that this controversy will pass, but the story doesn’t show any signs of slowing down, especially since new information seems to surface each and every day.
