Shedeur Sanders has been arguably the biggest story of the 2025 NFL Draft. From someone who was the potential QB1 heading into the draft process, his fall out of the first two rounds of the draft entirely has been sudden and shocking, to say the least.
It has led to a wide range of speculation and reaction from fans, media, and even the president of the United States. However, a former player and NFL legend, Dez Bryant, had a different outlook on the situation, instead asking the Colorado star to turn the situation around in due time.
Dez Bryant Wants Shedeur Sanders To Turn Vindictive
Over a 10-year career, Bryant was one of the most productive wide receivers in the entire NFL. Drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, he earned three Pro Bowl selections and put an All-Pro on his résumé after leading the league in receiving touchdowns in 2014.
Since retiring, Bryant has occasionally lent his voice to sports media, with X becoming a constant for his analysis and breakdown. With the Sanders situation becoming a major priority, he had his own thoughts on the entire matter, as he gave the quarterback some advice.
“Don’t forget these teams are making business decisions..Shedeur Sanders, so whenever you do get drafted and prove you are who you are, no discounts,” Bryant said.

His comments, of course, are a direct indication of the constant discussion around the contracts for players — and quarterbacks specifically. A precedent that Tom Brady started has become the standard to hold, with a discount allowing teams to surround their signal-callers with better talent.
However, Bryant clearly believes Sanders shouldn’t account for that discount. Falling out of the first two rounds has already led to a major fall in his initial salary as a rookie. With the potential for high-30s or early 40s, the current number will be less than $6.5 million.
As someone who was a near-guarantee in the first round, Sanders’ precipitous drop has been a shock for everyone watching. Before the second day’s proceedings began, lead NFL insider Adam Schefter theorized that he could fall to the third round and be taken by the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 83.
However, with that possibility fading away as well, it leaves the second part of Schefter’s breakdown. Teams like the Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals, or even the Cowboys might take a swing at Sanders, with his availability this deep coming as a genuine surprise.
