College Football World Reacts to Ohio State’s New Turf and Uniforms

The Ohio State Buckeyes took to X and wrote, “Updated and improved 🌰 New turf at Ohio Stadium delivers enhanced branding opportunities, a fresh look, and is designed to meet NFL standards.”

The reaction from Buckeye Nation and the broader college football world was instantaneous. WDTN’s Joey DeBerardino wrote, “Ohio State has gone full-throttle this offseason with a revamped uniform lineup and even new turf. It’s the first time the #Buckeyes have replaced the playing surface since 2022.”

Brutus After Dark’s X account shared a gif of LeBron James highlights along with the caption, “Ohio State Athletic Department in the middle of May.”

Bucknuts’ JBook reacted, “Ohio State is cooking. They getting sh*t done. Thank goodness they are getting rid of the current parking lot turf they currently have.”

The “THE Bunch of Nuts Podcast” X account said, “Ross Bjork absolutely cooked this offseason. Gotta give him credit for listening to the fans.”

“Our players are fired up about the new turf,” head coach Ryan Day noted, citing the enhanced safety and performance metrics. For a program that boasts an .872 winning percentage under Day (82-12), maintaining the elite standard of their home soil is a requirement, not a luxury.

While the turf provides the stage, the new uniforms provide the spectacle. Ohio State’s 2026 lineup now features five distinct looks, anchored by the return of the “Buckeye Stripe,” a silver metallic sleeve detail designed to perfectly match the program’s iconic silver helmets.

These changes perfectly sync with the on-field performances and the expectations as the Buckeyes enter the season as one of the early favorites. PFSN’s CFB Playoff Meter currently gives them a 7.6% chance to win the national championship.
