‘Bullies Get Bullied’ – Cam Taylor-Britt Takes DK Metcalf’s Best Shot, Responds With Big Play

0

Early in the second quarter Sunday, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith threw a non-descript four-yard pass to running back Zach Charbonnet. Meanwhile, 30 yards down the field, away from everything, Seattle wide receiver DK Metcalf delivered a forceful shove to the helmet of Cam Taylor-Britt, sending the Cincinnati Bengals cornerback to the turf.

Metcalf was flagged 15 yards for unnecessary roughness.

From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!

How Did Cam Taylor-Britt Respond to Being Thrown to the Turf?

Taylor-Britt didn’t respond to Metcalf’s penalty. Instead, he let his play — and his teammate — do that for him.

And it was hard to tell which was delivered more emphatically during and after the Bengals won 17-13 at Paycor Stadium.

The first big play Taylor-Britt made after the incident came in the third quarter with the Seahawks facing third-and-goal at the Cincinnati 5-yard line. Smith tried to hit Tyler Lockett near the front right pylon, but Taylor-Britt got his hand between Lockett and the ball for one of his career-high three pass defenses in the game.

Taylor-Britt described the play after the game.

“I just knew he wasn’t going jump ball. He’s not a jump ball guy,” Taylor-Britt said. “He’s more of a shifty guy, like (Zay) Flowers. I knew he was gonna run a comeback or an out or something. I knew it was coming.”

As Taylor-Britt was talking about the play, teammate Mike Hilton, from a few lockers away, started yelling over the top of him.

MORE: Cincinnati Bengals Depth Chart

“Bullies get bullied, Cam. Can’t play that bully-ball s**t,” Hilton said, causing Taylor-Britt to laugh and stop mid-sentence.

“You know that. He said it, man,” Taylor-Britt said.

“Bullies get bullied,” Hilton repeated. “Long a** damn flight home, too.”

Taylor-Britt and the Bengals defense bullied the Seahawks in the literal and figurative sense the entire second half, with Hilton starting it.

The Seahawks drove into the red zone four times in the second half and failed to score a touchdown on any of them. The first one ended with Hilton intercepting Smith at the 3-yard line on second-and-goal.

The next one ended with the Taylor-Britt pass defense against Lockett, forcing the Seahawks to kick a field goal to get within 14-13.

The last two came on the final two drives of the game. Seattle had first-and-goal at the seven-yard line with 3:27 remaining, only to have Cincinnati defensive ends Trey Hendrickson and Sam Hubbard record sacks on first and fourth down, respectively.

MORE: NFL Defense Rankings 2023

“Just relentless rushing all day,” Hubbard said. “I was winning my matchups all day, and finally (Smith) held the ball and lined up for me to get a sack.”

The final drive had Seattle with a 1st-and-10 at the 11-yard line with 55 seconds to go. An incomplete pass, two-yard run, and incomplete pass set up a 4th-and-8 at the nine-yard line.

What was Taylor-Britt thinking at that moment?

“Come to me. I want the ball, it’s as simple as that,” he said. “I feel like I’ve played enough games, enough big games with the playoff games and thing, to be able to take on that role. And I want it.”

But he never got it as defensive tackle B.J. Hill hit Smith as he threw, ending the game.

“I knew the ball was gonna come. I felt it in my spirit,” Taylor-Britt said. “But great rush to the quarterback like always, and we got the (win) as a team.”

'Bullies Get Bullied' - Cam Taylor-Britt Takes DK Metcalf's Best Shot, Responds With Big Play
Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson (91) and Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Sam Hubbard (94) celebrate a sack in the fourth quarter during an NFL football game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023, at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati.

The game-ending quarterback hit put the finishing touches on what Taylor-Britt called the best of his 24 birthdays, which featured his second career interception one week after recording his first.

And it was while he was in coverage battling Metcalf, as he was most of the day. Taylor-Britt said he anticipated what Smith did not, that Metcalf would run a dig instead of keeping the route vertical. Smith’s throw was well wide of both players, and Taylor-Britt made a diving interception.

He tried to downplay the pick, putting it at “a four or a three” out of 10 on the degree of difficulty scale, but Bengals receiver Andrei Iosivas, who also was celebrating his 24th birthday Sunday, knew better.

“It was definitely a super athletic play, and that’s the kind of plays he makes consistently,” he said. “I wasn’t surprised.”

Taylor-Britt became the fifth player in team history to record an interception on his birthday and the first since Reggie Nelson did it while turning 31 on Sept. 21, 2014.

The others:

  • Ricardo McDonald, Nov. 8, 1992, 23rd birthday
  • Jim LeClair, Oct. 30, 1977, 27th
  • Lemar Parrish, Dec. 13, 1970, 23rd

In addition to his second career interception and career-high three pass defenses, Taylor-Britt had seven tackles, the fourth-highest total in his two seasons in the league.

“Cam Taylor-Britt has really come on this year,” Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said. “I’m really proud of Cam. He has great, great ball skills. Tremendous ball skills. When the ball is in his area, he usually has a great chance to go get that thing, and I’m happy he did.”

Who Is Kyren Williams? Los Angeles Rams Proving They Found Late-Round RB Gem

0

The Los Angeles Rams once built a model where draft picks weren’t a necessity, as general manager Les Snead even donned an “F Them Picks” shirt during their February 2022 Super Bowl parade.

But in a new “remodel” strategy implemented by Snead and the Rams, the franchise is starting to show the NFL they’ve made some late-round discoveries. One is their new lead running back Kyren Williams, who has two 100-yard games this season and went over 150 in the Week 6 romp of the Arizona Cardinals 26-9 at SoFi Stadium.

From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!

How Did the Rams Discover Kyren Williams Late in the NFL Draft?

The Rams first fell in love with Williams’ competitive nature during his years with Notre Dame — so much so that the Rams moved up in the fifth round to lock him in during the 2022 NFL Draft.

“I love your competitiveness; I can’t wait, man,” head coach Sean McVay is seen saying on the day the Rams took Williams at No. 164 overall.

MORE: Los Angeles Rams Depth Chart

When the Rams took him in, they ignored Williams’ diminutive 5’9″, 210-pound stature and instead saw a Fighting Irish running back who posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons and combined for 27 rushing touchdowns in his last two years in South Bend, Indiana.

But there was another aspect that eventually helped win over the Rams regarding Williams — one that involved the city of St. Louis.

Williams Revealed Fandom for Rams at Last NFL City After the Draft

Turns out Williams ended up playing for the team he cheered for.

Following his draft selection, he told the L.A. media how playing for the Rams became a dream fulfilled.

MORE: NFL Bye Weeks Schedule 2023

“Right now, this is a dream come true,” Williams told reporters on April 30, 2022. “You know, starting in St. Louis and the Rams being there, and now they’re in L.A. Being with the program and the Rams, it’s a dream come true. I just couldn’t imagine being in a better place than Los Angeles.”

There’s more. While in St. Louis, Williams revealed he once met a certain Rams superstar named Steven Jackson during an autograph session.

Williams Proving Worthy of the Trading Up For

Moving up in the draft wasn’t the only bold move involving the Rams and Williams.

So was a crucial change in the backfield room during the early portion of the 2023 season.

Williams went from playing right behind Super Bowl-winning RB Cam Akers to eventually taking over the RB1 duties for the Rams. The team became so impressed with Williams that they opted to deal away their leading rusher to the Minnesota Vikings to make room for the former Norte Dame back.

Williams has responded by carrying the ball more than 10 times in every game. He showed his bell-cow side by handling 25 carries for 103 yards in the 19-16 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and scoring two times.

Against the Cards, Williams even left momentarily with what appeared to be a bad ankle but still broke off this long scamper to help put Arizona away.

Williams ended his afternoon with a new career-best of 158 yards and averaged 7.9 yards per carry in the 17-point win in Inglewood. He put up those numbers for a Rams offense that had been led by another fifth-round find in 2023 draft pick at wide receiver Nacua.

In the process, Williams is helping prove that Snead and the Rams have made some late-round discoveries through him and Nacua — and all in the post “F Them Picks” model for the Rams.

What’s the Rule When a Ball Goes Over the Uprights on a Field Goal Attempt?

0

In the NFL, kickers are able to kick the ball so far and high that there are times when a field goal attempt goes right over the upright. It’s hard to tell if the kicker made or missed the kick.

The NFL rulebook states: “The entire ball must pass through the vertical plane of the goal, which is the area above the crossbar and between the uprights or, if above the uprights, between their outside edges.”

The top of the upright in the NFL is 45 feet above the playing field. The dimensions of an NFL goalpost are a crossbar 10 feet off the ground and two 35-foot-tall uprights that are 18 feet and six inches apart and topped with orange streamers, which are always helpful when watching a game with some wind.

From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!

Are Field Goals Reviewable?

Teams are not allowed to review if a field goal or extra point was made or missed if the ball goes over the uprights. The NFL rule on replay review is “Field Goal or Try Attempt. Whether a field goal or Try attempt crossed above the crossbar and inside the uprights is reviewable, but only if the ball crosses the plane of the goal post below the top of the uprights, or if the ball touches anything.”

What’s the Tucker Rule?

Before the 2014 season, the NFL added five feet to the uprights after a controversial kick in the 2012 season. It was considered the “Tucker Rule” after Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker had a 27-yard field called good after it went over over the uprights. It wasn’t just a kick; it was a game-winning kick that gave the Ravens a 31-30 win over the New England Patriots.

MORE: Highest Paid NFL Players in the History of the League

The NFL fined Bill Belichick $50,000 after he made contact with line judge Esteban Garza as he tried to get an explanation of the ruling. You can see the kick and Belichick’s reaction here.

The New York Times reported that a set of new posts will cost teams and stadium operators at least $10,000.

After the height of the uprights was increased, Tucker tweeted, “FWIW the only guys who know exactly where that GWFG went vs NE are Sam Koch and myself. Not my best kick but still inside by about a foot.” Koch was the Ravens’ holder and punter for several seasons.

Tucker’s controversial kick was from 27 yards; he has been perfect from 29 yards or closer during his career. He made four field goals in that range in Week 6 against the Tennessee Titans to bring his career total to 101 from inside 30 yards.

‘This Is Just a Horrendous Throw’ – QB Apologist Tony Romo Rips Mac Jones

0

As a former NFL QB, CBS broadcaster Tony Romo has become a QB apologist, almost always taking the side of the signal-caller in whatever game he is covering. Things have not gone well for New England Patriots QB Mac Jones, as his brutal play and sketchy decision-making have him on the verge of being benched. Not even Romo would come to his aid on Sunday.

Jones faced off with former Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo on Sunday. Garoppolo was injured and replaced by yet another former Patriots QB, Brian Hoyer. Arguably, both Garoppolo and Hoyer played better than Jones on Sunday. Romo couldn’t keep his criticism silent any longer and let it fly.

From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!

What Did Tony Romo Say About Mac Jones?

Jones has made it a habit of throwing ill-advised throws, committing back-breaking turnovers for the New England offense.

MORE: New England Patriots Depth Chart

Jones continued the trend on Sunday when he air-mailed a throw back across to the middle, to no one in particular, which landed in the Raiders DB’s hands.

All Romo could say was, “This is just a horrendous throw by Mac Jones.”

Romo wasn’t speaking out of school by commenting on Jones’ play. The Patriots signal-caller has been the worst starting QB in the NFL the last month, and a once-promising future in New England now appears in doubt.

What Other Options Do the Patriots Have at the QB Position?

If the Patriots decide to make a switch at the QB position, they could turn to Bailey Zappe. Zappe was a record-setting QB from his collegiate days and has moments of brilliance but has not been able to play at a high level consistently. Patriots faithful have called for him in the past, but eventually he falters.

The Patriots could turn to Malik Cunningham. Cunningham is an uber-talented QB from Louisville but is a project and needs plenty of refinement to be considered a starting-caliber QB at the NFL level. Cunningham is more of an athlete, a running option that can give defenses a different look.

Reportedly, the organization is intrigued with current fourth-stringer Will Grier. Grier is considered a gunslinger and needs some tutelage on decision-making inside the pocket. Yet, he has a strong arm and the talent to get excited about, but the shift to him would be curious.

Ultimately, it doesn’t appear that the Patriots’ starting QB in 2024 and beyond is on the roster currently. With the 2023 season spiraling down the drain, the New England front office has one eye on QB prospects like Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Shedeur Sanders.

What Happened to the 49ers? Injuries to Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey Derail Game vs. Browns

0

The San Francisco 49ers took their first loss of the season against the Cleveland Browns as their high-powered offense looked less like itself with the absence of Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey.

Coming off a dominant win against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5, the 49ers ran into problems against a top-rated Cleveland defense and struggled to get much of anything going offensively throughout the game.

From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!

Offensive Concerns Following Niners’ First Loss

The 49ers entered the matchup averaging 33.4 points per game and as one of two undefeated teams remaining in the league.

MORE: San Francisco 49ers Depth Chart

Just last week, Shannon Sharpe called out Brock Purdy, saying he is not an elite quarterback and simply a “product of the system.” It seems this could be the case, as Purdy did not play at the same level he did through the first five weeks after losing the help of Samuel and McCaffrey.

Samuel left the game in the first quarter around the same time as offensive tackle Trent Williams, who had an apparent right leg injury. Samuel was ruled out of the game with a shoulder injury.

McCaffrey later suffered an oblique injury in the third quarter and was ruled out early in the fourth quarter as the Niners led 17-13.

Without two of his most powerful offensive weapons, Purdy struggled as he completed 12 of 27 pass attempts for 107 yards, one touchdown, and an interception. The interception was Purdy’s first of the season as he missed wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk by a few yards. Before the final drive of the game, Purdy completed just nine of his 20 passes for 82 yards.

MORE: NFL Bye Weeks Schedule 2023

Last week against the Cowboys and with Samuel and McCaffrey, Purdy completed 70.8% of his pass attempts for 252 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions, a drastically different performance from what we saw today.

While Purdy was able to lead a drive into field goal range in the final minutes of the game, resulting in a field goal that Jake Moody missed, the game should not have come down to that after seeing the elite level at which the team has played in previous weeks.

Purdy’s struggles seemed to prove the point of those, such as Sharpe, who believe he has been performing as well as he has due to his circumstances and playing under Kyle Shanahan’s offense.

Additionally, the Browns were able to pull off the win without quarterback Deshaun Watson, adding more insult to injury for the Niners. Browns quarterback P.J. Walker came off Cleveland’s practice squad and outthrew Purdy as he completed 52.9% of his pass attempts for 192 yards, although he did throw two picks.

Should Samuel and McCaffrey miss more time, could we expect Purdy to return to his normal self? Quarterbacks have their off days, but Purdy happened to have his worst passing day of the season with a 44.4% completion rate. While this could be chalked up to the team facing the toughest defense they have seen yet, it is concerning to see Purdy falter under less-than-ideal circumstances.

On the other hand, the narrative likely would have been altered had Moody made the 41-yard field goal for the win, as Purdy led the drive that ultimately would have won the game.

Is Tyrod Taylor Married? Meet Giants QB’s Model Soulmate Draya Michele

0

Tyrod Taylor has had an NFL journeyman career ahead of his start for the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football.

Taylor has played for six different NFL franchises, but he’s had the benefit of having one soulmate in his corner.

From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!

Who Is Draya Michele? Is She Tyrod Taylor’s Wife?

As Taylor has played for multiple NFL teams and has had to change addresses, he’s had the benefit of model Draya Michele being on his side.

Michele, now 38, is a media personality and fashion designer who’s also had some actress credits.

MORE: New York Giants Depth Chart

Michele is a native of Reading, Penn. Not much is known about her early years during her Keystone State days, but fans of the VH1 series Basketball Wives LA are likely familiar with Michele. That reality show aired between 2011 and 2016.

She also starred in the 2016 film “The Perfect Match” opposite Terrence Jenkins, Lauren London, R&B legend Brandy, and hip-hop superstar French Montana.

As for her clothing designs, she’s behind the swimwear line Mint Swim, which made its debut in 2011. She also launched Beige and Coco in 2016.

The couple started their relationship in 2020, and that was during a time Taylor lined up at quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers. The couple has, for the most part, kept their relationship private — though she did react to Taylor’s contract signing in 2022 with the Giants by wishing him congratulations.

However, there have been reports that Michele and Taylor have had an on-again, off-again relationship. And there’s even an NBA star in this picture, as well as a superstar from the R&B universe.

Was Michele With Other A-List Celebrities? Her Name Is Linked to R&B Superstar Chris Brown

Michele, though, hasn’t always been romantically linked to the forthcoming starter of the Week 6 SNF game against the Buffalo Bills.

MORE: PFN Life — Off-the-Field Content

Years before linking with Taylor, she had dated R&B superstar Chris Brown. And that relationship surfaced after Brown’s highly publicized split with R&B songstress Rihanna.

The couple, however, weren’t together for a year and eventually called it quits after nine months of being in a relationship.

But there was one other prominent name Michele was rumored to be attached to. In August 2023, speculation built that Michele had split from Taylor and was now seeing past NBA top overall pick Jalen Green of the Houston Rockets.

Although there’s been no official confirmation that Green and Michele were ever together, Taylor and Michele remain linked, and both still follow each other on Instagram.

How Far Is an Extra Point in the NFL?

0

The ball for an extra-point attempt in the NFL is placed at the 15-yard line, equivalent to a 33-yard field goal attempt. You get to 33 yards because there are 15 yards to the goal line, the end zone is 10 yards deep, and the holder is set up around eight yards behind the line of scrimmage.

The ball gets spotted at the 2-yard line when a team attempts a two-point conversion. If a team makes an extra point, but there is a penalty on the defense, the kicking team can accept the penalty and replay the conversion. The ball would be moved half the distance to the 1-yard line for the attempt.

In college football, the ball is placed at the 2-yard line for extra points and two-point conversions. The kick distance is the same as a 20-yard field goal.

You will hear announcers say the “PAT is good” after an extra point is made. PAT stands for Point After Touchdown.

From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!

When Did the Extra Point Rule Change?

In 2014, the NFL experimented with moving the extra point distance back in the first two weeks of the preseason. In the following offseason, owners voted to move the scrimmage line for extra point kicks back 13 yards to the 15-yard line. The 2015 season was used as a one-year trial of the new rules, and the change was made permanent for the next season.

MORE: NFL Bye Weeks Schedule 2023

NFL Competition Committee member Rick Smith, who was Houston Texans general manager at the time, said, “We tried to add some skill to the play, which is the reason why we moved it back to the 15, and then the other element is, how do we create a more exciting play? And so to give the defense an opportunity to score, it adds an element there, as well as obviously incentivizing teams to go for two.”

In 2014, only seven teams did not make every extra point, and the overall league average success rate was over 99%. The percentage of extra points made dropped to 94.2% after the distance was moved back in 2015.

It has been between 93% and 94.6% in the eight full seasons since the change. The previous low in the Super Bowl era (1970) was 90.9% in 1976. Entering Week 6, the success rate for extra points was 98.2%.

The number of two-point attempts in a game has not dramatically altered since the rule change. Teams are still taking the one-point kick almost every time after a touchdown. The two-point conversion attempts per game were 11% in 2014 and have slowly increased to 25% this season. The NFL added the two-point conversion for the 1994 season.

NFL Inactives Tonight: Giants at Bills Injury Report and Starting Lineups With Updates on Saquon Barkley and Darren Waller

0

The New York Giants and Buffalo Bills had key players injured in their respective Week 5 losses. The Giants have already ruled out a few starters on offense, and the Bills placed two defensive starters on injured reserve earlier this week.

The Bills likely lost All-Pro LB Matt Milano for most of — if not the rest of — the season after he suffered a broken leg and knee injury last week in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Buffalo starting DT DaQuan Jones is also expected to miss the remainder of the season after tearing a pectoral muscle last week. Finally, Bills starting CB Tre’Davious White is out for the season after tearing his Achilles in Week 4.

Still, Buffalo did have some good injury news last week when LB Von Miller made his season debut. The Bills had been without the eight-time Pro Bowler since he tore his ACL last Thanksgiving.

Buffalo isn’t the only Empire State team with the injury bug, though. The Giants will be without starting QB Daniel Jones, who is dealing with a neck injury. He has struggled this season, with two touchdowns and six interceptions in five games. Tyrod Taylor will replace Jones in the starting lineup and make his first start since 2021. Taylor was Buffalo’s starting quarterback for three seasons and made the Pro Bowl in 2015.

Let’s take a look at tonight’s NFL inactives, the latest injury report, and starting lineups for both teams.

Giants vs. Bills Player Prop Bets for Sunday Night Football: Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, Saquon Barkley, and Others

0

If you were hoping to avoid watching the New York Giants this week, then I regret to inform you that they are once again playing on national television, and as major underdogs against the Buffalo Bills, they could be in for another rough game.

It’s hard to back a team giving more than two touchdowns, and it’s almost even less appealing to bet on the underdog in this spot because they’re getting this many points for a reason.

But thankfully, sportsbooks offer a bunch of player prop bets for every NFL game, and for the Giants vs. Bills on SNF, they’re a great alternative to betting the point spread.

Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, and this Bills team are hoping to get back on track tonight after a disappointing loss across the pond last week to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Should you bet on their player props tonight in what could be a get-right spot? Let’s take a look at the PFN Betting team’s favorite Giants vs. Bills player prop bets.

Top New York Giants vs. Buffalo Bills Prop Bets To Target

Our team of betting experts gives out their favorite player prop bets for Giants vs. Bills on Sunday Night Football.

All odds are from DraftKings Sportsbook unless noted otherwise.

Tyrod Taylor Player Props

  • Passing Yards: 175.5 (Over -115/Under -115)
  • Pass Touchdowns: 0.5 (Over -166/Under +130)
  • Pass Attempts: 31.5 (Over -114/Under -114)
  • Pass Completions: 18.5 (Over -114/Under -114)
  • Interceptions: 0.5 (Over -145/Under +114)

Blewis: In his three seasons as a full-time starter in Buffalo, Tyrod Taylor threw 51 TDs and 14 INTs. With a TD-to-INT ratio of nearly 4-to-1 (if you round up), it’s pretty clear he can take good care of the football.

MORE: Week 6 NFL Bets and Expert Picks

And against a Bills defense missing so many key starters, plus in what I expect to be a conservative game plan from Brian Daboll offensively, I like the plus money on him to not throw a pick.

Pick: Tyrod Taylor under 0.5 interceptions (+114 at DraftKings)

Saquon Barkley Player Props

  • Rushing Yards: 48.5 (Over -115/Under -115)
  • Receiving Yards: 15.5 (Over -120/Under -110)
  • Anytime Touchdown Scorer: +165
  • First Touchdown Scorer: +1200

Blewis: Saquon Barkley is set to make his return tonight, but will he be 100%? It’s safe to assume he won’t be, but also that he’ll be featured in the game plan due to the devoid of skill talent on the Giants roster, and a much needed security blanket for Tyrod Taylor.

They’re huge underdogs in this one and should be playing from behind early tonight. We know the Giants are weak at receiver and that Barkley can be a threat in the passing game. His receiving yards number is relatively low tonight — I wouldn’t mind a play on the over.

Pick: Saquon Barkley over 15.5 receiving yards (-120 at DraftKings)

Darius Slayton Player Props

  • Receiving Yards: 25.5 (Over -110/Under -120)
  • Longest Reception: 15.5 (Over -110/Under -120)
  • Anytime Touchdown Scorer: +550
  • First Touchdown Scorer: +3500

Blewis: I faded Darius Slayton a couple of weeks ago against the Seahawks and won, so I’m going to run that back tonight for similar reasons.

On an offense devoid of talent at wide receiver, Slayton still has a target rate of just 13.7%. His catch rate of 54.1% is by far the lowest on the team as well, with Waller’s being the next-worst at 67.6%. This is largely due to how he is utilized primarily as a threat downfield, as his average depth of target is 3.7 yards higher than the next closest player.

With Tyrod Taylor in place of Daniel Jones behind this terrible offensive line, I expect an even more conservative passing attack than usual tonight. As a result, Slayton might be the odd man out. I would take his receptions under, but that’s not available at the moment, so let’s go with under 25.5 receiving yards.

Pick: Darius Slayton under 25.5 receiving yards (-120 at DraftKings)

Darren Waller Player Props

  • Receiving Yards: 39.5 (Over -115/Under -115)
  • Receptions: 3.5 (Over -140/Under +110)
  • Longest Reception: 17.5 (Over -105/Under -125)
  • Anytime Touchdown Scorer: +425
  • First Touchdown Scorer: +3000

Katz: Darren Waller’s groin injury appears to be more soreness than anything else, and it won’t keep him out tonight. That’s great. Now, it’s time to fade him.

Waller has had two strong outings against the Cardinals and Dolphins. In his other three games, he’s posted receiving lines of 3-36, 3-20, and 3-21.

The Bills are very stingy against the tight end. Just 14.3% of their total receiving yardage allowed has gone to the position. With Tyrod Taylor starting, I am not optimistic about Waller’s prospects this week.

Pick: Darren Waller under 39.5 receiving yards (-115 at DraftKings)

Josh Allen Player Props

  • Passing Yards: 264.5 (Over -115/Under -115)
  • Pass Touchdowns: 1.5 (Over -180/Under +140)
  • Pass Attempts: 34.5 (Over -114/Under -114)
  • Pass Completions: 23.5 (Over -114/Under -114)
  • Rushing Yards: 27.5 (Over -120/Under -110)
  • Interceptions: 0.5 (Over -110/Under -120)

Blewis: With the Bills being such massive favorites tonight, if I had to lean in any direction on Josh Allen’s player props, it would be the under on his pass attempts.

In the Bills’ 10 wins by two scores or more dating back to last season, Allen has thrown under 35 passes eight times. At an 80% rate, that’s more than good enough for me to feel confident in taking this number, with the biggest risk being if this game is closer than expected.

Pick: Josh Allen under 34.5 pass attempts (-114 at FanDuel)

James Cook Player Props

  • Rushing Yards: 58.5 (Over -120/Under -110)
  • Rush Attempts: 15.5 (Over -110/Under -120)
  • Receiving Yards: 16.5 (Over -110/Under -120)
  • Receptions: 1.5 (Over -172/Under +128)
  • Anytime Touchdown Scorer: +105
  • First Touchdown Scorer: +600

Soppe: I think we are getting a bit of a discount here after James Cook’s eight-touch 21-yard effort last week against the Jaguars (-4 rushing yards). He has at least 25 receiving yards in three of his past four games — usage that can help bail us out if the ground game isn’t working — I just don’t think that’ll be the case.

For the season, the Giants miss the second most tackles per game, and if Cook is going to be as involved as I project, that puts him in a great spot to break a big gain. Combine that with the fact that Cook sees a light box on 62.3% of his carries (10th highest in the league), and we could be looking at a big performance.

Oct 1, 2023; Orchard Park, New York, USA; Buffalo Bills running back James Cook (4) warms up prior to the game against the Miami Dolphins at Highmark Stadium.

Josh Allen is running less this season (4.0 carries per game, down from 7.8 last season), and it’s not crazy to think Buffalo could manage him in this spot: coming back from London with a road divisional game next week ahead of a Thursday nighter (vs. TB).

Cook has the same number of carries this season as Allen, Damien Harris, and Latavius Murray combined. He’s the lead back as a massive favorite; I’m happy to trust that role with my hard-earned dollar.

Pick: James Cook 100+ scrimmage yards (+180 at DraftKings)

Stefon Diggs Player Props

  • Receiving Yards: 82.5 (Over -115/Under -115)
  • Receptions: 6.5 (Over -148/Under +112)
  • Longest Reception: 26.5 (Over -110/Under -120)
  • Anytime Touchdown Scorer: -180
  • First Touchdown Scorer: +340

Blewis: Stefon Diggs has been on a tear so far this season, with at least 100 receiving yards in all but one game this season and four touchdowns in his last two games.

Currently, at FanDuel, his longest reception prop is at 25.5, so you’re getting a point of value compared to DraftKings. This is a number Diggs has gone over in each of his last three games, and one that isn’t dependent on the Giants keeping this game close or not. Let’s bank on Diggs making it four games in a row with a reception of at least this many yards.

Pick: Stefon Diggs’ longest reception over 25.5 yards (-114 at FanDuel)

Giants vs. Bills Predictions, Picks, Odds Today: Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, and Others

If you’re sick of watching the New York Giants in prime time, I promise you that you’re not alone. The Giants have lost by a combined 79 points in their three national TV games this year and will be facing a Buffalo Bills team looking to get back on track after a disappointing loss in London to the Jacksonville Jaguars. But before we get into our Giants vs. Bills predictions, let’s preview this game.

Daniel Jones is out for this one with a neck injury, and Tyrod Taylor will be starting in his place for the Giants. This is a revenge game for both Taylor and head coach Brian Daboll, as they will each be going against their former team in Buffalo for the first time.

The Giants vs. Bills odds include the highest point spread of the week, which has only gone up since Jones was ruled out. For the Bills, this will be the 11th time with Allen at quarterback in which they have been favored by at least 13 points. According to Evan Abrams at The Action Network, the Bills are 9-1 SU and 5-3-2 ATS in those previous 10 games. So if you’re thinking of taking the Bills in your survivor pool, that should give you even more confidence.

With such a large point spread, how should you be betting on this game? Let’s check out the Giants vs. Bills predictions, picks against the spread, player prop bets, and more from the PFN betting team.

Bearman: I have admittedly watched way too much of the Giants in the last few weeks, and I know one thing: Their offense stinks, like, really stinks.

MORE: Week 6 NFL Bets and Expert Picks

No offensive TDs in the first half of the entire season, and this stat is almost hard to believe — take out the second half of the Arizona game, and the Giants have scored one offensive touchdown in 18 quarters of football. Yes, ONE!

Pick: Giants team total under 13.5 points (-105 at DraftKings)

Blewis: I liked the Bills giving 7.5 first-half points earlier this week, but that number has gone up a lot, so I’m actually going to go in a different direction that sort of contradicts that.

The Bills’ loss in London last week would be pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things if they didn’t lose two of their best defensive players to injury in Matt Milano and DaQuan Jones. This was the second game in a row in which the Bills have lost key defensive players, as they put CB Tre’Davious White on IR the week prior.

If there’s any offense a banged-up defense would want to play against, it’s the Giant, who are incapable of blocking anyone and will be without Daniel Jones tonight. But giving 15.5 points is quite a lot and one that is very capable of losing on a backdoor cover when you consider the Bills’ injuries on defense.

What is giving me pause in taking the 15.5 with the Giants is the inability of their offense to keep pace with Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs early in this one. So I’ll probably live bet the Giants on the spread if/when they fall behind early and tease this with the Chargers in the Monday Night Football game. I mean, they gotta cover 21.5 points, right?!

Pick: Giants +21.5 and Chargers +7.5 in a six-point tease (-134 at FanDuel)

Soppe: I think we are getting a bit of a discount here after his eight-touch, 21-yard effort last week against the Jaguars (-4 rushing yards). He has at least 25 receiving yards in three of his past four games, a usage that can help bail us out if the ground game isn’t working — I just don’t think that’ll be the case.

Oct 8, 2023; London, United Kingdom; Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (17) during the first half of an NFL International Series game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Pick: Cook to total 100 Scrimmage Yards (+180 at DraftKings)
