The Pittsburgh Steelers entered Week 14 having lost three of their last four games. As a result, frustrations have begun boiling over, and some fans even chanted “Fire Tomlin” at their longtime head coach last weekend.
In Week 14, however, the team pulled off a big win against division rival Baltimore Ravens. The win ensured the Steelers remain in first place for now, and Aaron Rodgers delivered a blunt response when asked what the victory means.
Aaron Rodgers Thinks Mike Tomlin Criticism Should be Quieted
It was a hard-fought win for the Steelers in Week 14. The team was outgained by more than 100 yards but was able to hold off a late Ravens comeback attempt and win 27-22. After the game, Rodgers was asked about the significance of the win, considering fans had just chanted for Tomlin to be fired a week ago.
“It means maybe you guys will shut the hell up for a week,” Rodgers bluntly stated.

Fans and media members had been criticizing Tomlin and suggesting the Steelers move on. This win keeps the Steelers in first place, though, and it’s hard to criticize a coach when he’s winning the division.

Even franchise legend Ben Roethlisberger joined the Tomlin chatter. Roethlisberger, who played for Tomlin for 15 seasons, recently suggested Tomlin should leave the Steelers and take the head coaching job at Penn State.
Penn State ultimately hired Iowa State’s Matt Campbell, but it was surprising to see Tomlin’s name even floated for the position.
On Sunday, Rodgers threw for 284 yards and one touchdown while completing 23 of 34 passes. DK Metcalf led the Steelers in receiving with seven catches for 148 yards. The win moved the Steelers to 7-6 with four games remaining.
Tomlin Under Fire in Pittsburgh Due to Recent Struggles
Tomlin has been at the helm in Pittsburgh for 19 seasons. The coach took over for the legendary Bill Cowher, and it didn’t take long for him to prove he was the right hire.
Tomlin won a Super Bowl with the Steelers in just his second season. The team missed the playoffs the year after the championship but returned to the big game the following season, losing to the Green Bay Packers.
Overall, Tomlin has 190 wins and is three wins shy of passing the legendary Chuck Knoll for most wins as a Steelers head coach.
The Steelers have never had a losing season under Tomlin and have only missed the playoffs six times.
However, they haven’t advanced past the Wild Card round since 2017. The team also ended last season on a five-game losing streak that included the playoffs, which has left fans antsy.
