Royce White took his controversial WNBA Draft push straight to Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday night, showing up courtside for the Indiana Fever’s matchup against the Connecticut Sun in a long blonde wig.
His latest stunt quickly split the WNBA world, with some celebrating the spectacle while others dismissed it as another attempt to manufacture attention.

His appearance came just days after another former NBA player, Enes Kanter, made headlines with a similar stunt.
Kanter was ejected from the Fever-Chicago Sky game following a confrontation with Natasha Cloud and was later banned from Wintrust Arena.
White followed Kanter into the controversy after the former Boston Celtics center had declared for the 2027 WNBA Draft.
On August 17, White’s legal team delivered his formal declaration to the WNBA, with the former NBA player stating: “as of signing this declaration, I identify as a transgender woman.”
However, as per a league source, the WNBA rejected both White’s and Kanter’s applications, calling them publicity-driven efforts and emphasizing that its eligibility standards would not be shaped by external pressure.
White’s courtside appearance nevertheless brought a wave of reactions from both his critics and supporters.
Sports enthusiast Maria Mel called White’s appearance “THE MOST UNREAL COURTSIDE ANTICS IN WNBA HISTORY… When a grown professional athlete resorts to wearing a costume and threatening lawsuits just to force a league eligibility debate, sports culture officially reaches peak absurdity,” Mel posted.

While White’s appearance became another off-court talking point, Fever stars Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell kept the spotlight right on basketball.
Clark followed her 37-point explosion against the Chicago Sky with another 34-point blitz Friday, leading the Fever past the Connecticut Sun 111-91.
Mitchell matched Clark’s scoring intensity with 34 points of her own, pushing her team to a 26-14 record.
