Caitlin Clark may have been sidelined on June 27, but that didn’t stop her from cheering on the Indiana Fever, who secured a 94–86 win over the Dallas Wings. Clark’s 2025 season has been disrupted by multiple injuries, repeatedly halting her return to the court.
Despite the setbacks, she received uplifting news: Clark was voted one of two captains for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, a fan-driven honor delivered via a celebratory call from Commissioner Cathy Engelbert on June 29.
Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever’s Daring Commissioner’s Cup Aspirations
On June 29, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert rang up to congratulate Clark on being named an All-Star captain. Engelbert could be heard through the phone call, saying, “Caitlin, I just want to personally congratulate you on being named captain for the 2025 WNBA All-Star team.”
When Engelbert wished the Fever well in the upcoming Commissioner’s Cup title game, Clark seized the moment. With a grin spreading across her face, she quipped, “Yeah, we about to get that dub, Cathy,” as her teammates started hooting and cheering. The moment was shared by the Fever’s official X handle.

Meanwhile, Clark’s current injury, a groin issue, first surfaced on June 26, when head coach Stephanie White labeled her status “day‑to‑day” after a five‑game absence for a quadriceps strain earlier in the month.
She made a triumphant comeback from that on June 14 and scored seven three-pointers and 32 points against the New York Liberty. But, again, Clark was struck with misfortune and was ruled ‘out.’
“Late last night. I think it’s very much a day-to-day thing, how she responds to treatment. I like to stay in my lane and let our strength and conditioning and our [athletic training] staff do what they do best. But yeah, found out late last night, and then we’ll treat it day-to-day,” White said as reported by Sports Illustrated.
Before the injury, on June 24, Clark scored just six points, dished out nine assists, and secured three steals against the Seattle Storm. Following that, she missed the June 26 game against the Los Angeles Sparks and the June 27 match against the Dallas Wings due to her groin injury.
Fever Dominate Early, Weather Dallas Rally
Without their star guard, Indiana came out blazing, opening with a dominant 33–13 first quarter that set the tone for a lead they never gave up. Kelsey Mitchell led the charge with 32 points on 11-of-17 shooting, adding seven assists. Aliyah Boston backed her up with 21 points, six rebounds, and three assists to maintain the Fever’s momentum.
Dallas didn’t go quietly. Behind Paige Bueckers’ 27 points and Arike Ogunbowale’s 15, the Wings clawed back with strong second and third quarters, outscoring Indiana 30–23 and 26–18, respectively.
But in the fourth, Indiana’s composure took over. The Fever closed out with a 20–17 edge in the final frame, sealing a hard-fought 94–86 victory.

Meanwhile, the Indiana Fever is set to clash with the Las Vegas Aces (July 3), Los Angeles Sparks (July 5), Golden State Valkyries (July 9), Atlanta Dream (July 11), and Dallas Wings (July 13). All these matches will be hosted at the Fever’s home turf, the Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
