It’s been a one-step-forward, two-steps-back sort of campaign for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever so far this season. Placed eighth in the WNBA standings, the Fever are 7-7 and have gone 5-5 in their last 10 games.
Clark’s struggles aside, Indiana has been dealing with injuries, inconsistency, and will now have to make do without veteran presence DeWanna Bonner, who was waived on June 25. The franchise re-signed Aari McDonald to a standard contract for the remainder of the season in her place.
With the Bonner drama behind them, the Fever need to find stability and consistency again, but the most recent development does not help in that regard.
Caitlin Clark Ruled Out for June 26 Fever vs. Sparks Clash
The positive news is recent updates on the health of Fever superstar Caitlin Clark. The guard has been moving without any visible discomfort in the five games since her return from a quad strain early in the season. Her availability is paramount as they host the struggling Sparks on Thursday, June 26.
However, Clark will not be available ahead of the marquee clash. According to the Indiana Fever on their X account, Clark has been ruled out for the June 26 contest with a left groin injury.
This is a new development, as Clark initially missed time early in the season due to a quad issue. However, these two injuries could be related, as soft-tissue ailments are often tricky to manage, especially midseason.

Clark has seen a slump since her explosive return from injury. The guard is coming off a forgettable six-point outing, shooting 3-for-13 from the field and 0-for-6 from behind the arc. She is now a worrying 1-for-23 from the 3-point line in her last three games.
While the Fever secured a win against the Seattle Storm, making Indy 3-2 since Clark’s comeback, the Iowa star’s missing shooting touch is cause for concern for Indiana.
That said, guard Lexie Hull believed that Clark’s slump was not a worry for the team. Speaking to the media after the win against the Storm, Hull said, “She’ll be fine.”
“We are not worried about it. She’s a great shooter, great player, this happens to every great player.”

Clark has otherwise had a good season, averaging 18.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 8.9 assists in nine regular-season games. The Fever will hope that the team can string a series of wins ahead of the All-Star break and that their star guard is not out for too long.
All eyes will be on Clark as she battles her shooting woes and recovers from her groin injury as they look to prop up a win over the Sparks.
