Which NFL Draft Quarterback Prospects Will Throw at the 2024 NFL Combine?

    Published on

As the 2024 NFL Combine nears, which quarterback prospects will be on display in Indianapolis, and which will wait until their pro days to work out?

The stage is set for the highly anticipated 2024 NFL Combine, which will see the prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft head to Indianapolis.

When the quarterbacks take to the field in Lucas Oil Stadium, it’s always a huge milestone in the draft cycle. However, as the seasons go by, more and more top prospects are opting out of doing on-field drills. Let’s take a look at which QB prospects are confirmed to be throwing in 2024.

Who Will Throw at the 2024 NFL Combine?

Fourteen QBs were invited to the 2024 NFL Combine featuring the biggest names in the class, including Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye. However, reports are emerging that several of these high-profile names will not be participating.

Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday, Feb. 26, that both Williams and Daniels won’t be throwing at the 2024 NFL Combine. They will be in Indianapolis to complete interviews and meetings, but they’ve opted to throw at their respective pro days instead.

This isn’t unexpected, as the previous two Heisman Trophy winners have nothing left to prove on the field. Instead, Williams and Daniels will focus on the all-important team interviews, where they will be able to display their mental intangibles, intelligence, and leadership.

Additionally, on Tuesday, February 27, CBS Reporter Josina Anderson reported that Drake Maye will just do “physicals and interviews” at the 2024 NFL Combine.

Florida State QB Jordan Travis also won’t be throwing in Indianapolis as he continues his recovery from a broken leg and won’t be healthy enough to compete in drills. Travis isn’t expected to be back on the field until the summer.

Despite two of the top QBs in the 2024 Draft opting out, some are taking the opportunity to build their draft stock.

Rapoport confirmed that Washington QB Michael Penix Jr., Oregon QB Bo Nix, and Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy are all expected to throw in Indy.

With two of the top three consensus quarterback prospects not participating in on-field activities in Indianapolis, it’s a huge chance for the next tier of QBs to step up and prove themselves.

While there isn’t confirmation of the participation of the other QBs invited, it is expected that most will be throwing at the 2024 NFL Combine.
