After a not-so-impressive run with the Kansas City Chiefs, wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling parted ways with the team last month. And amid a fierce playoff race, he has made a fresh start as he returns to the field in Week 14 with the new team he signed with.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling Makes His Debut for the Pittsburgh Steelers
Valdes-Scantling signed with the Chiefs in 2022 on a three-year, $30 million contract, but he never became the player Kansas City hoped for, eventually leading to the team moving on from him.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, who were looking for experienced receivers, brought him in. He made his Steelers debut in their Week 14 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Steelers made major changes to their wide receiver group, making a fully healthy Roman Wilson inactive and adding two new receivers, former Minnesota Vikings star Adam Thielen and Valdes-Scantling.
This decision wasn’t too surprising. Wilson, who was drafted less than two years ago, hasn’t been able to deliver consistent performances. He has only 12 catches for 166 yards in his career and had none in the previous two games.
It will be interesting to see how these two new additions impact the Steelers’ offense, which has already been performing well this season, currently sitting at No. 15 on PFSN’s Offense Impact with a 75.4 score.
Steelers Clash With Ravens for NFC North Crown
The Steelers are facing the Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium, with both teams entering the matchup at 6–6. Baltimore currently holds the No. 1 spot in the NFC North, but today’s game will determine whether they stay at the top or get dethroned by Pittsburgh.
Moving forward, the biggest concern for Steelers fans remains the same, their defense. It hasn’t performed impressively, ranking No. 20 on PFSN’s Defense Impact for the season. They have also entered Sunday’s game after losing two straight.
Their defensive issues have held them back, but still, Pittsburgh currently has a 51.7% chance to make the postseason, the highest in the AFC North, according to PFSN’s Playoff Meter.
The Ravens, on the other hand, entered the game after suffering a tough 14–32 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 13. They currently hold a 41.1% chance of reaching the postseason. Winning the Sunday game is important for both Baltimore and Pittsburgh, especially with the division race tightening and the pressure mounting.
As these division rivals battle for the top spot, it will be interesting to see which team ultimately comes out on top and how much of a difference Pittsburgh’s new wideout additions make.
