What Happened to CeeDee Lamb? Revisiting the Cowboys Star’s Devastating Injury, When He’ll Return

Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb missed Sunday Night Football against the Green Bay Packers after suffering a high ankle sprain in Week 3.

After missing Sunday Night Football, the Dallas Cowboys were hopeful that star WR CeeDee Lamb could return in Week 5. He suffered an ankle injury early in the team’s Week 3 contest against the Chicago Bears, one that saw him put up zeroes across the board.

After back-to-back 100-plus yard games, WR George Pickens filled his void against the Green Bay Packers. With the New York Jets looming, the Cowboys would love to have Lamb back.

Dallas Cowboys Officially Rule CeeDee Lamb Out For Week 5 Against the New York Jets

For the second straight week, QB Dak Prescott will need Pickens to step up. The former Steeler put up monster numbers in their 40-40 tie with the Packers, eight receptions for 134 yards and two touchdowns.

The SNF crew kept cutting to Lamb on the sideline, who was loving every bit of it. Lamb’s support for Pickens and company shone bright, and it’s a role he’ll once again have to play on the sidelines at MetLife Stadium.

Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer said that Lamb is trending in the right direction, but they’re playing it safe by choosing not to play him in Week 5. If there was ever a game to miss, it’s this one.

Dallas just scored 40 points against what was supposed to be the league’s top defense, and now they get to play a winless Jets squad. If Prescott can put up similar numbers to what he did in Week 4, the Cowboys will be perfectly fine.

Week 5 NFL Injury Report: Latest Updates on Bucky Irving, Lamar Jackson, Joe Mixon, and Others

Sitting at 1-2-1, Dallas knows it needs Lamb back sooner rather than later. Their next two games are on the road against the Jets and the Carolina Panthers. If anything, Lamb might be able to sit next week as well. There’s never an ideal time to get injured, but missing games against the Jets and Panthers is far from the worst thing in the world.

So far this season, Lamb has 16 receptions for 222 yards. He is still waiting for his first touchdown of the season, something Prescott will be itching to throw him upon his return.

Through four games, Prescott is 10th in the league with a B grade in PFSN’s QB Impact metric. Despite only having one win, the Cowboys’ offense is second in the league with a B+ grade in PFSN’s Offense Impact metric.

Lamb was recently seen without his walking boot, and Cowboys fans remain optimistic about his return. Schottenheimer does not want to bring him back too soon, as a high-ankle sprain is nothing to be messed with.
