Week 8 NFL Injury Report

Bucky Irving, RB; Chris Godwin and Mike Evans, WRs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Update 10/24: Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said on Friday that Bucky Irving, Chris Godwin Jr., Haason Reddick, and Luke Haggard are out for Sunday’s game. Also on Friday, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka was removed from the team’s Injury Report and is expected to play against the New Orleans Saints.

Update 10/23: Godwin did not practice with the Buccaneers on Thursday. The Buccaneers were hoping that Irving, who has been dealing with a shoulder injury, would be able to return this week. That’s not going to happen.

According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Wednesday, Irving has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Saints.

In addition, Godwin, who has been dealing with a fibula injury, will also be out for the Buccaneers’ game against the Saints. Tampa Bay hopes to get both players back after their bye week.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday that wide receiver Mike Evans is scheduled to have surgery this week on his broken collarbone.

In the PFSN NFL RB Impact metrics, Irving has a 65.3 RB Impact Score and grades out with a D. In four games for the Buccaneers this season, Irving has 71 carries for 237 yards and no touchdowns. In the PFSN NFL Offense Impact metrics, Tampa Bay has a 73.0 Offense Impact Score behind quarterback Baker Mayfield and grades out with a C.

Jayden Daniels, QB; Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel Sr., WRs, Washington Commanders

Update 10/25: Washington Commanders wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel Sr. have been cleared to play on Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs. Update 10/23: On Thursday, the Commanders ruled quarterback Jayden Daniels out for Monday night’s game against the Chiefs. Marcus Mariota will start in Daniels’ place.

Rapoport reported the news about Daniels in a post on X on Wednesday.

With Daniels out, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn will turn to Mariota to make his third start for the team this season. In the PFSN NFL QB Impact metrics, Daniels has a 74.3 QB Impact Score and grades out at a C. As for the PFSN NFL Offense Impact metrics, the Commanders have an 82.9 Offense Impact Score and grade out with a B-.

Washington hopes to get Daniels back soon. He’s proven quite capable of leading the team’s offense when he’s on the field.

Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens

Update 10/25: On Saturday, the Baltimore Ravens ruled quarterback Lamar Jackson out of Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears. Backup QB Tyler Huntley will get the start for Baltimore. Also, the Ravens adjusted Jackson’s participation in Friday’s team practice from a full to a limited participant. Update 10/24: Jackson was a full participant at practice on Friday, but the team is listing him as questionable for Sunday. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh also announced on Friday that Tyler Huntley will be the team’s No. 2 quarterback with Cooper Rush now at No. 3.

Update 10/23: Jackson returned to the practice field again on Thursday. When asked about Jackson, Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken said, according to FOX Baltimore sports anchor Morgan Adsit, that “he was exited to have Lamar Jackson back at practice. Said looked good. Added it is ultimately up to Lamar if he feels like he’s ready enough (hamstring) to play.”

Jackson, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury, returned to the Ravens’ practice field on Wednesday. It was the first time that he’d been out there since Sept. 28.

In his post on X, Ravens reporter Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reported that Jackson “mostly just did warmup throws while media was out there. Did run around a little bit.”

According to the PFSN NFL QB Impact metrics, Jackson has an 87.3 QB Impact Score and grades out with a B+. The Ravens’ offense has not been in sync with Cooper Rush, who is starting in Jackson’s place. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh probably cannot wait until Jackson is a full go for a game.

Nico Collins and Christian Kirk, WRs; Joe Mixon, RB, Houston Texans

Update 10/24: Houston Texans wide receivers Nico Collins and Christian Kirk have been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Update 10/23: Collins and Kirk were not practicing on Thursday.

Collins, who is in concussion protocol, and Kirk, who is dealing with a knee injury, are not practicing with the team on Wednesday, according to Schefter.

Joe Mixon continues to be on the Texans’ Injured Reserve list. He has been dealing with a foot injury since before the season started. There is no timetable at this point regarding Mixon’s return to play. The Texans have turned to Nick Chubb and rookie Woody Marks to take up the slack.

Shedeur Sanders, QB, Cleveland Browns

Update 10/25: Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who is dealing with a back injury, has been placed on the team’s Injury Report. Bailey Zappe has been elevated from the Browns’ practice squad.

Michael Penix Jr., QB, Atlanta Falcons

Update 10/25: The Atlanta Falcons will give quarterback Kirk Cousins the start on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, in place of Michael Penix Jr. Penix Jr. is listed as questionable to due to a bone bruise in his left knee. Update 10/24: Penix Jr. is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins, Schefter reported. EDGE Jalon Walker and defensive back Billy Bowman Jr. are ruled out.

Bryce Young, QB, Carolina Panthers

Update 10/25: Andy Dalton will start at quarterback for the Carolina Panthers against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, whether starter Bryce Young is active or not. Update 10/24: Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills, Rapoport reported. Andy Dalton is in line to start for Carolina. Update 10/23: On Thursday, Young, who is dealing with a sprained ankle, did not practice. Schefter reported on Thursday that it’s looking like Andy Dalton will start for the Panthers on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

Josh Downs, WR, Indianapolis Colts

Update 10/25: Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs will be back on the field on Sunday for the Colts. Update 10/24: Colts head coach Shane Steichen announced on Friday that Downs, who has been dealing with a concussion, is now out of concussion protocol.

Aaron Jones, RB, Green Bay Packers

Update 10/23: On Thursday, Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones was activated from Injured Reserve and was good to go on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Chargers, Schefter reported.

A.J. Brown, WR, Philadelphia Eagles

Update 10/25: Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury, has been ruled out of Sunday’s game. Update 10/24: Brown was not practicing for a third straight day for the team. Update 10/23: On Thursday, Brown did not practice on Thursday due to a hamstring injury, Schefter reported.

L’Jarius Sneed, CB, Tennessee Titans

Update 10/23: On Thursday, the Tennessee Titans placed starting cornerback L’Jarius Sneed on the Injured Reserve list due to a quad injury, Schefter reported. He will now miss a minimum of four games for the Titans.

Malik Nabers, WR, New York Giants

Update 10/23: New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll said on Thursday that wide receiver Malik Nabers hasn’t had surgery on his torn ACL yet. According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, Nabers will have the procedure done once swelling goes down around his knee.

Trey Hendrickson, DE, Cincinnati Bengals

Update 10/25: On Saturday, Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson has been cleared to play on Sunday against the New York Jets. Update 10/24: On Friday, Hendrickson, who has been dealing with a hip injury, is listed as questionable for the team’s game against the New York Jets.

Darren Waller, TE, Miami Dolphins

Miami Dolphins tight end Darren Waller, who has been dealing with a pec injury, was placed on Injured Reserve by the team on Wednesday. Waller, who came out of retirement this season to play for the Dolphins, will now miss the next four games.

Schefter reported the Waller news on Wednesday. In a corresponding move, the Dolphins signed tight end Greg Dulcich to their active roster off the team’s practice squad.

Jaxson Dart, QB, New York Giants

Update 10/24: On Friday, Jaxson Dart, who has been dealing with an ankle injury, was taken off of the team’s Injury Report and appears good to go for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Pelissero reported.

Will Howard, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers

On Wednesday, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Will Howard now has his 21-day practice window to return from Injured Reserve opened. Howard has been on IR since Week 1 due to a pinky finger injury.

Tyrod Taylor, QB; Garrett Wilson, WR; Breece Hall, RB, New York Jets

Update 10/25: New York Jets head coach said that Justin Fields would start on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Tyrod Taylor, who has been dealing with a knee injury, and wide receiver Josh Reynolds have been ruled out. Update 10/24: Glenn on Friday did not name a starting quarterback. Glenn also said that wide receiver Garrett Wilson, who is dealing with a knee injury, and cornerback Sauce Gardner, who is dealing with a concussion, are both out, Schefter reported.

Update 10/23: Taylor, who has been dealing with a knee injury, said on Thursday that he’s focusing on being ready this week. “My sole focus is being available and ready to be able to lead this team when called upon,” Taylor said in front of reporters. Taylor was limited in practice on Thursday.

Also on Thursday, Wilson was not practicing with the Jets. Running back Breece Hall was limited in practice on Thursday.

Taylor, who was being looked at as a possible starter on Sunday for Jets head coach Aaron Glenn, is now considered day-to-day with a knee injury, according to Schefter on Wednesday.

The Jets also reported that Wilson and Hall are considered day-to-day, Glenn said when meeting with reporters on Wednesday.

Wilson has been dealing with a hyperextended knee injury. Hall has been dealing with a low ankle sprain.

Kareem Hunt, RB, Kansas City Chiefs

Update 10/25: On Saturday, the Kansas City Chiefs took running back Kareem Hunt, who has been dealing with an ankle injury, off of the team’s Injury Report. Hunt will be good to go on Monday night against the Commanders.

Trevon Diggs, CB, Dallas Cowboys

Update 10/25: On Saturday, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs has been ruled out of Sunday’s game with the Denver Broncos. Update 10/24: Diggs is still in concussion protocol, according to Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer on Friday. Schottenheimer said it’s “leaning” toward Diggs not playing on Sunday against the Denver Broncos.

Joshua Palmer, WR, Buffalo Bills

Update 10/24: On Friday, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Joshua Palmer was ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers. Bills head coach Sean McDermott also said that safety Taylor Rapp and defensive tackle DaQuan Jones are also out of Sunday.

Update 10/23: Palmer was not on the practice field on Thursday. Palmer was injured in the second quarter of the Bills’ Monday night game against the Atlanta Falcons. Palmer’s left ankle was injured during a play where he was taken down by what appeared to be a hip tackle.

On Wednesday, Bills head coach Sean McDermott said that Palmer was “week-to-week” at this time, according to Bills reporter Joe Buscaglia for The Athletic.

Darius Slayton, WR, New York Giants

Update 10/24: New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury, is good to go on Sunday, it was announced on Friday. Update 10/23: Slayton was a limited participant in practice on Thursday.

Slayton has missed the last two weeks due to a hamstring injury. He was set to practice with the team on Wednesday, Giants head coach Brian Daboll told reporters, according to Giants.com reporter Dan Salomone.

Mike Gesicki, TE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Last week, Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Mike Gesicki was placed on Injured Reserve with a pectoral injury.

Charvarius Ward Sr., CB, Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis Colts cornerback Charvarius Ward, who suffered a concussion, is still on Injured Reserve.

Omarion Hampton, RB, Los Angeles Chargers

Omarion Hampton of the Los Angeles Chargers suffered an ankle injury in a Week 5, 27-10 loss to the Commanders at SoFi Stadium. Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh announced last week that Hampton was put on Injured Reserve.

Braelon Allen, RB, New York Jets

Braelon Allen of the New York Jets is still on the Injured Reserve for the Jets. Before the Jets’ loss in London to the Denver Broncos, HC Glenn said that Allen was dealing with a “pretty significant knee injury.”

Trey Benson, RB, Arizona Cardinals

Schefter reported more than two weeks ago that Trey Benson, the Arizona Cardinals’ RB2 to open the season, is on Injured Reserve after suffering a knee injury. Benson underwent arthroscopic surgery on his meniscus.

Antonio Gibson, RB, New England Patriots

Antonio Gibson of the New England Patriots, who tore his ACL, is still on Injured Reserve.
