To kick things off, it’s only fitting to begin with the most important position in football. These are the ten best quarterbacks in the NFL based on last year’s PFN QB Impact Scores.
10) Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
2025 PFN QB Impact Score: 80.0
Joe Burrow’s presence played a big role in the level of success the Cincinnati Bengals had, as they went 5-3 with him in the starting lineup and just 1-8 without him. On a smaller sample size, he had a 53.3% third-down and fourth-down conversion rate that ranked second in the NFL. His 66.8% completion percentage and 226.1 passing yards per game both finished in the top half of the league.
With an 80.0 PFN QB Impact Score, Burrow experienced slight regression compared to his 85.8 score in 2024. That said, he still finished as a top-ten quarterback in the NFL last year.
If he can stay healthy throughout 2026, there’s reason to believe he can make it back into the top five, where he’s finished in three of his six seasons.
9) Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
2025 PFN QB Impact Score: 80.3
Between passing and rushing touchdowns, Josh Allen scored 39 times, which ranked second in the NFL behind only Matthew Stafford. His rushing ability helps his QB Impact Score, but he had the fourth-best completion percentage at 69.3%, the fourth-best third-down conversion percentage at 44.8%, and the fifth-best passer rating at 102.2.
A few factors weigh Allen down in what was a slight step back from his 2024 NFL MVP campaign. He tied for tenth with 0.13 EPA per dropback, his 47.6% success rate ranked just No. 13 in the league, and his 6.0 net yards per attempt tied for the No. 17 spot.
Still, it was another strong year for Allen, having finished in the top ten by PFN QB Impact Scoring for the sixth consecutive year.
8) Daniel Jones, Indianapolis Colts
2025 PFN QB Impact Score: 80.7
For much of his 2025 season before he got hurt, Daniel Jones looked like a legitimate MVP candidate, which was arguably the biggest surprise from the first half of last season. His season ended prematurely, but he ended the year in the top seven in completion percentage, net YPA, rushing touchdowns among quarterbacks, rushing EPA per play, and third-down and fourth-down conversion rate.
Jones was an above-average performer in just about every metric PFN uses to add weight to the QB Impact Score formula.
The Indianapolis Colts are hoping Jones will bounce back to his pre-injury ways, having signed him to a two-year extension worth $88 million this offseason.
7) Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
2025 PFN QB Impact Score: 81.9
The Detroit Lions missed the playoffs in 2025, but it sure wasn’t because of their quarterback play. Among other categories, Jared Goff finished in the top six in the NFL in completion percentage, passing yards, passing touchdowns, passer rating, EPA per dropback, and net yards per attempt.
Inconsistency on third downs was the only metric dropping him out of that top-six ranking.
From an efficiency perspective, Goff was much better than most quarterbacks across the NFL. Though his advanced metrics often placed him outside of the elite tier of quarterbacks, he was still a top-ten passer across the board in 2025. Placing second in both passing yards and passing touchdowns certainly doesn’t hurt his standing in these rankings, either.
6) Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
2025 PFN QB Impact Score: 82.1
The NFL’s leader in passing completions in 2025, Dak Prescott, excelled with a high workload for the Dallas Cowboys. He finished third in the league with 4,552 passing yards and fourth with 30 passing touchdowns, even with CeeDee Lamb missing time due to injury. Other top quarterbacks had higher completion percentages and fewer interceptions, but Prescott was still an impact player.
Prescott’s 0.20 EPA per dropback tied for the fifth-best in the NFL, and he also tied for third with 7.2 adjusted net yards per attempt in 2025. He had an extremely high passing volume, as his 600 attempts ranked second in the entire league last year.
However, his ability to stay efficient despite having so many more opportunities for error speaks to how good of a player he is.
5) Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks
2025 PFN QB Impact Score: 82.5
As helpful as it was for the Seattle Seahawks to have the best defense in the NFL by PFN Defense Impact Scoring, you can’t win the Super Bowl in today’s NFL without a good quarterback. Sam Darnold certainly fit that bill, as his 82.5 PFN QB Impact Score marked the highest of his career to date.

Darnold placed in the top five in such categories as passing yards, success rate, adjusted net yards per attempt, completion percentage over expected, yards per attempt, and yards per completion. He provided the Seahawks with a vertical aerial passing attack that helped them be extremely efficient with the offensive drives they had, complementing their stellar defense to put pressure on opposing offenses.
4) Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers
2025 PFN QB Impact Score: 85.1
Jordan Love might not have had an elite season by basic statistics, but more advanced analytics indicate he’s a much better quarterback than many give him credit for. Among other categories, he ranked second in EPA per dropback, sixth in success rate, tied for fifth in adjusted net yards per attempt, and third in completion percentage over expected.
Since Love took over as the starting quarterback in 2023, the Green Bay Packers have had a top-ten offense in the NFL by PFN Offense Impact Scoring every single year. He’s been such an integral part of those high-performing units, and coming off his best season to date, one could argue the Packers’ ceiling still hasn’t been reached. That’s a dangerous proposition for the rest of the NFL.
3) Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
2025 PFN QB Impact Score: 85.5
On a sample size of just nine games, Brock Purdy was incredible when he was healthy. He placed in the top six in completion percentage, passing yards per game, net YPA, percentage of throws resulting in a touchdown, and lowest sack percentage. Purdy also led the NFL with a 57.1% third-down conversion rate, making him one of only two quarterbacks to reach 50%.
In his three seasons as the full-time starter for the San Francisco 49ers, Purdy has ranked in the top ten in PFN QB Impact Scoring in every season. He most notably led the NFL in the metric in 2023, and he now has another top-three ranking to his name. One could argue the presence of Kyle Shanahan helps Purdy’s analytical profile, but there’s no denying how much success he’s had thus far.
2) Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
2025 PFN QB Impact Score: 87.0
As the reigning NFL MVP going into 2026, there’s no denying Matthew Stafford was great in 2025. He led all quarterbacks with 4,707 passing yards and 46 passing touchdowns last season. For reference on how crazy the latter of those numbers is, no other quarterback touched 35 passing touchdowns last year.
The basic statistics look incredible for Stafford, but the analytics also look quite strong. His 8.0 adjusted net yards per attempt and 7.4% touchdown percentage both led the NFL last year, and his EPA per dropback and success rate both ranked third.
It’s not often you see a quarterback put together a career year in their late 30s, but that was the case with Stafford last year. With the loaded roster the Los Angeles Rams have going into 2026, he’s well-positioned to build off that success.
1) Drake Maye, New England Patriots
2025 PFN QB Impact Score: 91.8
Drake Maye finished in first place in the NFL with a 72.0% completion rate, a 113.5 passer rating, and 8.5 net yards per attempt. His 0.32 EPA per dropback, 55.2% success rate, and +10.8 completion percentage over expected all led the NFL, as well. He also finished in the top five in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and quarterback rushing yards.
Across all the analytical categories PFN uses to measure QB Impact Scoring, Maye placed in the top eight in nearly all of them. Though Stafford won the MVP last year, Maye was our top performer analytically in 2025.
As he heads into his third year with the New England Patriots, he’ll look to take his team back to the Super Bowl, finish the job this time, and cement himself as one of the NFL’s elite.
