Nadal announced his retirement from tennis by sharing a video on social media. In this video, he expressed his gratitude to his mother, Ana, for her sacrifices and thanked his wife, Mery, for her support. He also mentioned his older son, Rafael Jr., stating that seeing him motivated him to play a little longer.
“My family is everything to me. My mother, I think she has made all the sacrifices she had to make so that we could always have everything. My wife, Mery – we’ve been together for 19 years. Thank you for everything you have done. To come home and see how my son is growing every day has been a force that has really kept me alive and with the necessary energy to continue,” he said.

“If that’s what my son wants to do, I’m going to support him. I don’t think that will be the case, but I’m going to support him in whatever he wants to do,” he said.
The Spaniard won his final ATP Tour singles title at the 2022 French Open, where he defeated Casper Ruud in the final. This victory marked his 14th title at Roland Garros, his 22nd Grand Slam title, and his 92nd ATP Tour singles title.
