Jannik Sinner recently broke his silence about his unexpected partnership with Emma Navarro at the upcoming mixed doubles event at the US Open. The New York Major has adopted a new mixed doubles format, which will be a two-day event during the first week of the tournament’s fan week. 16 teams were announced for the event, and Sinner was partnered with Emma Navarro.
Jannik Sinner on Partnering Emma Navarro at US Open
Sinner spoke about his partnership with Emma Navarro during a pre-tournament press conference at Wimbledon. The Italian revealed that he had recently met the American for the first time and that the two pairing up was the US Open’s decision, not their own.
“Look I just met her yesterday for the first time. We never talked or texted to each other – it’s actually a funny story. The tournament wanted us to kind of play together because certain teams were already set up, so the choice was not big,” Sinner said.
Jannik Sinner also showed his sense of humor about his doubles skills, stating that he told Navarro not to get upset with his play.
“And I told her already that she shouldn’t get pissed at me for my good volleys – in doubles I struggle,” Sinner joked.

Jannik Sinner Excited to Compete in US Open Mixed Doubles Event
Speaking further in the press conference, Sinner said he was excited to compete in the new mixed doubles event at the US Open. The Italian also said that the tournament would be exciting for the fans.
“But I’m very excited. It’s something new. I think it’s very exciting for the fans to see something different, the best singles player playing doubles is always something fun to watch,” the World No. 1 said.
Jannik Sinner will start his Wimbledon 2025 journey against compatriot Luca Nardi in the first round. This will be the very first tour-level meeting between the two Italians, with the winner facing either Aleksandar Vukic or Tseng Chun-hsin in the second round of the grass-court Major.
Sinner enters Wimbledon after a disappointing second-round exit at the Halle Open last week. The Italian started his run at the ATP 500 event with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Yannick Hanfmann before suffering a shock 6-3, 3-6, 4-6 defeat to eventual champion Alexander Bublik.
