Leylah Fernandez is giving the home crowd plenty to cheer about in Toronto, and her biggest supporter is watching closely. After her Round of 32 victory at the National Bank Open, Fernandez received a sweet shoutout from her boyfriend, Canadian Para ice hockey star Vincent Boily.
Leylah Fernandez’s Boyfriend Vincent Boily Shares Glowing Post-Match Snap After Her Third Round Win
The 23-year-old Canadian, best known for her incredible run to the 2021 US Open final, took down the 2026 French Open champion and No. 5 seed Mirra Andreeva in straight sets on Friday, winning 6-1, 6-4, to secure her spot in the Round of 16.
After the match, Boily, who was cheering for her from the stands, took to his Instagram Story to share a cozy photo of Fernandez smiling and resting her head on his shoulder, simply captioned with a heart-on-fire emoji.

Boily also posted a video clip filmed from the stands at Sobeys Stadium, capturing the exact moment after Fernandez won the match. He proudly added a “Round of 16” text overlay on it.
Fernandez and Boily have quickly become one of the fan-favorite athletic couples. After a soft launch earlier in the spring, the pair confirmed their relationship on social media in April 2026. Following the Italian Open, she shared photos from a romantic getaway exploring Rome’s iconic landmarks, including the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain. Boily commented “Bellissima” on the photos, to which Fernandez sweetly replied, “Amore mio.”
Boily, a former ice hockey player for the St. Eustache Vikings, had a snowmobile accident in 2017 that left him partially paralyzed. Instead of giving up on his career, he transitioned into para sports.
The 26-year-old forward won a gold medal at the 2024 World Para Ice Hockey Championships and, most recently, secured a silver medal at the 2026 Winter Paralympics in Milano Cortina for Canada’s national para ice hockey team.
Meanwhile, with her first win against a Top 10 player this year, Fernandez is looking to revive her season, in which she had first-round exits at all three Grand Slams in 2026. Her best result was a quarterfinal appearance in Madrid, where Andreeva defeated her 7-6(1), 6-3.
In the doubles, Fernandez partnered with her younger sister Bianca Jolie Fernandez, but they lost in the Round of 32 to the duo of Elise Mertens and Diana Shnaider.
Next up, she will face four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka in her Round of 16 match.
