Iga Świątek Rumors Shut Down by Caroline Wozniacki’s Father After Coach’s Exit

Caroline Wozniacki's father Piotr has issued a clarification on the rumors surrounding Iga Świątek’s coaching shake-up.

Caroline Wozniacki’s father has quashed rumors about his association with Iga Świątek after the firing of her coach, Wim Fissette. The Pole announced that she and Fissette were parting ways on Monday, March 23, just days after she was knocked out of the 2026 Miami Open.

Caroline Wozniacki’s Father Piotr Addresses Iga Świątek Rumors

Just hours after her Miami exit, rumors started swirling about Świątek and Fissette’s impending split. Fans also speculated that former World No. 1 and 2018 Australian Open champion Wozniacki’s father was planning to step in as the new coach. Piotr, a former Polish footballer, has, however, refuted the unfounded claims in a conversation with Interia Sport.

“That’s out of the question. Honestly, after Caroline ended her career, I received very good offers, but now is not the time. I have a wonderful family, grandchildren, granddaughters, and so on, and I know how much it costs. I’ve always worked with my heart and commitment, not for money, to be clear. And I know how much energy, time, and true dedication it takes,” he said (translated from Polish).

The former coach stood firm on his decision not to re-enter coaching. “I realize that people now want someone who is even wiser about the mistakes they made, like I did with my daughter. And after all this experience, I know which direction to go, but that’s a closed applause. Absolutely nothing can make me change my mind.”

Wozniacki’s Father Shares His Recommendation With Świątek

Świątek’s 2026 season hasn’t panned out as per her expectations so far. She’s registered 12 wins against six defeats – an unideal stat for a player of her caliber. Fissette’s layoff thus doesn’t come as a surprise. The Belgian coach assisted Swiatek to three titles last year, including her first-ever Wimbledon victory. However, after a string of early losses this year, the Miami exit proved to be a breaking point for the former World No. 1.

In her farewell message, she clarified that she plans to continue with the rest of her team. “The rest of my team remains unchanged. I know there are many questions, but I’ll let you know what’s next at the right time. I’m taking a moment to take care of myself, process this experience, and prepare for a new chapter.”

While Piotr Wozniacki refused a potential coaching gig, he offered his personal recommendation – Dawid Celt, the coach of Poland’s Billie Jean King Cup team and Agnieszka Radwańska’s husband.

“I can, from my experience, offer advice to someone I respect for their work so far. So, I can give advice to Iga, but she hasn’t called me, or her father. That’s why I’m saying it out loud that I think Dawid Celt is a coach worth considering.”

“He may not have won six Grand Slams with a player, but he was and is with former player Agnieszka Radwańska, he’s the national team coach, and he knows how to communicate. And he thinks in Polish, which is a very important element here,” Piotr explained.

After her defeat to fellow Polish player Magda Linette in Miami, Świątek will shift her focus to clay, her most successful surface. She is expected to resume her campaign at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, April 13 onwards.
