There has been plenty of surprise around the league that four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs remains without a team in 2026. That surprise is warranted, given the former New England Patriots wide receiver’s impressive numbers last season.
Among all NFL receivers, Diggs finished 12th in receptions (85), 16th in receiving yards (1,013), 10th (tied) in receiving first downs (51), and fourth in PFSN’s WR Impact Metric. With several teams still needing help at receiver, which five teams should be looking to make a move?
5 Best Team Fits for Stefon Diggs:
Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders are in the market for an experienced receiver to play opposite Terry McLaurin. We know this because everyone’s favorite Brandon Aiyuk insider, Aiyuk himself, has publicly stated that he will join the NFC East team if the San Francisco 49ers release him.
While the Commanders haven’t said anything, there has clearly been communication with Aiyuk, and the team’s need for more receiver talent is obvious. But given how messy that situation has become, and the obvious question marks surrounding a player who hasn’t played football since October 2024, a Plan B would be sensible.
The Commanders lost two key receiving options in Deebo Samuel Sr. and Zach Ertz in free agency, after losing Austin Ekeler to injury in Week 2 of last season. Diggs has fewer question marks, is a better all-around receiver, and should be a target for Washington regardless of whether or not they sign Aiyuk.

Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders are building a fearsome offense through the draft, but still lack a clear WR1 after losing both Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers in recent seasons. Diggs would slot straight into that leading role, allowing the likes of Tre Tucker and Jalen Nailor to play to their own strengths.
Needless to say, the Raiders’ passing game would still run primarily through Brock Bowers, but having a top receiver on the outside would help open things up through the middle. Diggs also spent two years with Kirk Cousins on the Minnesota Vikings in 2018 and 2019, going for over 1,000 receiving yards in both seasons.
And if the Raiders want to introduce first-overall pick Fernando Mendoza midway through the season, having as much talent surrounding him as possible makes sense.
Miami Dolphins
If, however, Diggs wants to be the true alpha on his team, his only option may be the Miami Dolphins. The AFC East strugglers have finally torn it all down under new GM Jon-Eric Sullivan, with Tyreek Hill being released in February, followed by Jaylen Waddle moving on in a trade.
That has left the Dolphins with a receiver room that boasts just two 500-yard NFL receiving seasons combined (Jalen Tolbert and Tutu Atwell, both in 2024). Miami spent two round-three picks on Caleb Douglas and Chris Bell, but it has the weakest receiver room in the NFL by far.
Diggs knows the division well, having spent four years with the Buffalo Bills and one with the Patriots, tallying over 1,000 receiving yards in all five seasons. If the veteran receiver wants volume, star status, and good weather, Miami is the only option.

Baltimore Ravens
Alternatively, if he wants another shot at a Super Bowl, he should have already blocked Sullivan’s number and instructed his agent to reach out to the final two teams on this list. Another free agency cycle, another NFL Draft, and the Baltimore Ravens have still not added a top receiver to play opposite Zay Flowers.
Ja’Kobi Lane and Elijah Sarratt are interesting prospects, but the Ravens have been in win-now mode since before they drafted Lamar Jackson, who is entering his ninth NFL season. There have been several mid- to late-round picks brought in to compete, similar to Lane and Sarratt, but none have made a difference so far.
Alongside the draft picks, though, the Ravens have called on several aging veterans to step up and play a significant role, such as DeAndre Hopkins and Odell Beckham Jr. Diggs would fit more into that mold, but is significantly closer to his prime than either Hopkins or Beckham were at the time, and could tip the Ravens over the edge in 2026.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs finally suffered a down year in 2025, but the key pieces on offense are all returning for 2026. Rashee Rice and Travis Kelce should assume their usual roles, but a spot opened up when Hollywood Brown moved on in free agency.
Moving to the Chiefs would mean a significant dip in targets for Diggs, though he would likely take over much of Xavier Worthy’s work, relegating the speedster to a gadget role. Still, Kelce’s targets dropped by 25 in 2025, and when you factor in that Diggs would be a clear upgrade in talent over Brown and Worthy, 90-100 targets could still be possible.
Provided Patrick Mahomes doesn’t miss too much time early on, Diggs could have a stellar year in Kansas City and would have a very real shot at a ring. An extra receiver would make a ton of sense for the team, too, given the obvious concerns around Mahomes’ mobility upon his return.
