The Dallas Cowboys have been vocal about their willingness to use prime draft capital to acquire a top-tier talent, particularly on defense. So, would they be willing to make an offer too good to refuse for Maxx Crosby?
Cowboys fans shouldn’t hold their breath on that one happening any time soon.
Dallas Cowboys Unlikely to Trade for Maxx Crosby
For one, the Las Vegas Raiders have shown no inclination to trade Crosby again after their deal with the Baltimore Ravens fell through due to a failed medical.
Of course, the Raiders’ stance could change, especially if first-year head coach Klint Kubiak gets off to a rough start, just as the two head coaches before him did in Las Vegas.
While those rumors won’t die a quick death, ESPN’s Cowboys insider Todd Archer told 105.3 The Fan that he doesn’t see a Crosby trade happening for Dallas.
“I keep waiting for something big,” Archer said. “And I guess the Quinnen Williams signing was something big. That surprised me just that it happened that quickly. I guess it depends on your definition of big. Maxx Crosby? I don’t see that happening.
“I thought it was interesting that Stephen said, when the Williams deal went down, he’s like, ‘In my mind, the Parsons trade is over.’ They still got one first-round pick out there that they could move, but maybe that’s something that they’re not considering.”

Crosby is a five-time Pro Bowl pass-rusher, so it’s not hard to see why the Cowboys and several other teams would have interest. But it takes two to tango.

Plus, Crosby himself has suggested he doesn’t want to leave the Raiders. But again, those feelings could change, especially if a new team were to offer him a nice raise in addition to the chance to compete for a Super Bowl.
Crosby is coming off a 10-sack season, his fourth in the double digits since arriving as a fourth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He ranked 5th last season in PFN’s Edge Rusher Impact Rankings. He’d certainly be a big upgrade for the Cowboys’ defense, and really, any team he joins.
While he’s not Micah Parsons, he’s arguably the next best thing.
The problem is, Crosby may not be available. Not at the moment, at least.
