What Are The Seahawks’ Chances For NFC’s No.1 Seed?

Mike Macdonald has been nothing short of amazing in his two seasons as the Seahawks’ head coach. Through his first 32 games, he has posted a 22-10 record. The former Baltimore Ravens and Michigan Wolverines defensive coordinator has breathed new life into a franchise looking to return to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2014.

Not many pundits had Seattle pegged as a legitimate Super Bowl contender entering the 2025-26 campaign, but that’s precisely the case. The Seahawks have already won more games than they did a season ago, with three games left to play, behind a top-3 defense and a top-10 offense in PFSN’s Impact metrics.

The Sam Darnold signing in the offseason has panned out, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba has solidified himself as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. Smith-Njigba has caught 104 passes for a league-best 1,637 yards and 10 touchdowns in 15 games. Their instant connection, coupled with an elite defense, makes the Seahawks dangerous down the stretch and into the playoffs.

Even with a challenging two-game stretch coming up, the Seahawks are firmly in the NFC playoff picture, but they have an appetite for more.

Coming into Week 16, Seattle owned the same 11-3 record as the Los Angeles Rams, but the loss to the Rams in Week 11 gave LA the tiebreaker atop the NFC West. That has changed tonight, as the Seahawks pulled off a huge win in overtime.

After their win in Week 17, the Seahawks have qualified for the playoffs, according to PFSN’s NFL Playoff Predictor. They also have a 60.30% chance of winning the NFC West and a 56.20% chance of securing the NFC’s No. 1 seed.

The Rams were in position to win their second-straight NFC West title if they could win out. A win over Seattle would have given them an 89.9% chance of winning the division and an 80.8% chance of securing the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, the 10-4 49ers are currently the 6-seed in the NFC and right behind both teams. San Francisco currently has a 15.30% chance to win the division, and a 13% chance to finish as the NFC’s top seed.

Seahawks Remaining Schedule

With three teams currently in the playoff picture, the NFC West is arguably the best division in football right now. Every game from here on out holds massive playoff implications. The Seahawks have already turned heads, but their performance down the stretch will say a lot about how they might fare in the postseason.

  • Week 17: Seahawks at Carolina Panthers
  • Week 18: Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers

Seattle faces a tough two-game stretch to close out the regular season, with each matchup against a playoff contender. It will be interesting to see how Macdonald and co. will bounce back from the loss against the Rams.
