Seahawks Owner Jody Allen Set To Make Major Decision on Team’s Future After Super Bowl Matchup vs. Patriots

The Seattle Seahawks could be under new management after Super Bowl 60 as owner Jody Allen considers selling the historic franchise.

The Seattle Seahawks established themselves as one of the league’s most well-run organizations when they won the Super Bowl in 2013, embarking on one of the era’s most successful stretches. Now, the Seahawks are back, one victory away from their second Super Bowl victory.

General manager John Schneider is the only holdover from Seattle’s last chance to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. Even ownership has changed hands, from Paul Allen to his sister, Jody Allen. After Super Bowl 60, the Seahawks may once again be under new management.

Seattle Seahawks Owner Reportedly Makes Franchise-Altering Decision

Seattle is staring down one of the biggest games in franchise history, a second clash against the New England Patriots under the brightest lights. While their short-term fate hangs in the balance, a longer-term decision may have already been made.

Ahead of Super Bowl 60, ESPN reported that Jody Allen will sell the team.

The sale could be historic for multiple reasons. It is unprecedented for a Super Bowl participant to put up for sale immediately. Similarly, ESPN’s reporting suggests the team could sell for over $7 billion.

That price would put Seattle in the upper half of the league in terms of franchise value, as Forbes lists 12 teams as worth at least $7 billion.

Such a sale is an indictment of the success Seattle has found under the Allens, even more impressive given its location outside a major market. Of course, increasing franchise values also reflect well on the NFL as it inevitably dominates the American sports landscape.

In 2022, Jody Allen echoed her brother’s sentiments toward philanthropy, foreshadowing a potential sale but promising good-faith management in the meantime.

“There is no pre-ordained timeline by which the teams must be sold,” she said. “Until then, my focus — and that of our teams — is on winning.”

The Seahawks have made good on that statement in 2025. Allen’s Seahawks rank third in PFSN’s NFL Defense Impact Metric, complementing Sam Darnold’s emergence as PFSN’s 13th-best quarterback.

It’s worth noting that the team has denied an imminent sale. Ian Rapoport shared a statement from the Paul G Allen Estate.

“We don’t comment on rumors or speculation, and the team is not for sale,” Rapoport posted. “We’ve already said that will change at some point per Paul’s wishes, but I have no news to share. Our focus right now is winning the Super Bowl and completing the sale of the Portland Trail Blazers in the coming months.”

Seattle has recovered from the loss of a franchise quarterback and replaced head coach Pete Carroll with a rising star in Mike Macdonald. Once again, an elite defense is at the forefront of the Seahawks’ Super Bowl chances, and the transition has kept the Lumen Field faithful satisfied.

A potential sale could change Seattle’s fortunes, but it’s safe to say the Seahawks have the right people in place, regardless of ownership, to find success.
