The Los Angeles Rams visited the Seattle Seahawks to start Week 16. Thursday’s game was a critical NFC West matchup for both teams and one that will also play a significant role in determining the conference’s top defenses.
What Are the Rams’ Chances of Winning the NFC West and Being the No. 1 Seed?
In Week 15, Los Angeles clinched a playoff spot by defeating the Detroit Lions, 41-34. It’s the Rams’ seventh postseason appearance in nine seasons under Sean McVay.
According to PFSN’s NFL Playoff Predictor, after their loss to the Seahawks, the Rams now have a 24.40% chance to win the NFC West and a 19.10% chance to be the top seed in the conference, along with a Wild Card bye.
Los Angeles and Seattle both entered this game with 11-3 records, but the Rams are now 11-4. They also defeated the Seahawks, 21-19, in Week 11. In that matchup, Matthew Stafford had two touchdown passes, and Sam Darnold threw four interceptions.
PFSN Analytics gave Seattle a 50.5% chance of defeating Los Angeles tonight. Since the Seahawks defeated the Rams, their chances of winning the NFC West have increased from 32.4% to 60.3%, while the odds of being the top seed have jumped from 29.9% to 56.2%.

The San Francisco 49ers are just a game back in the NFC West and now have a decent chance to win the division. The 49ers hoped for a Seahawks win on Thursday night because it would put them in control of their own destiny to win the division. They currently have a 15.30% chance to win the NFC West, and a 13% chance to secure the top seed in the NFC.

It’s no longer in the Rams’ hands now, as even if they win their final two games, they will not secure the division title and earn the top seed in the NFC if the Seahawks or the 49ers win out.
According to PFSN’s NFL Strength of Schedule, the Rams have the 13th hardest remaining schedule, while the 49ers have the hardest, and the Seahawks have the ninth-hardest remaining schedule.
Los Angeles has a 66.9% chance of beating the Atlanta Falcons on the road in Week 17. The Rams conclude their season against the Arizona Cardinals at home and have a 74.7% chance of winning.
Behind Matthew Stafford, the Rams have the top PFSN’s Offense Impact (OFFi) score in the NFL this season. Los Angeles also has the fifth-best score on PFSN’s Defense Impact (DEFi) for the year, representing a significant improvement from its 23rd ranking in 2024.
