President Donald Trump didn’t miss out on a chance to diss Taylor Swift again when he hosted the Philadelphia Eagles at the White House in honor of their 2025 Super Bowl 59 win.
Trump and Swift have had several public disagreements, mainly stemming from their opposing political views. Swift strongly supports Democratic candidates, which clashes with Trump’s Republican affiliation. Both have criticized each other publicly for this reason, and the saga continued Monday, April 28, when Trump spoke about the Eagles’ Super Bowl win.
Donald Trump Takes Another Dig at Taylor Swift
Trump fired another barb at the international pop sensation during his speech about the Kansas City Chiefs’ 40-22 loss.
“It was an incredible game. A little surprising, but right from the beginning of the first quarter of the big game, which I was there, I watched in person,” Trump said, before adding a swipe aimed at Swift and her relationship with Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce.
“I was there along with Taylor Swift, how did that work out? How did that one work out?”
Trump’s comment seemed aimed at Super Bowl night, when Swift was reportedly booed at the stadium after the Chiefs’ loss. As the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl, Trump didn’t miss the chance to lash out at the singer that night.
“The only one who had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving,” Trump had posted on social media in February.
While his shots at Swift take center stage, Kelce’s girlfriend is not the only reason Trump has been keeping an eye on the NFL. The president also weighed in on the 2025 NFL Draft proceedings.
Trump Stands Up for Shedeur Sanders Not Drafted Until Day 3
The buildup surrounding Shedeur Sanders’ draft slip from a projected Round 1 pick had a grip on the whole nation, and Trump was no exception.
In a Truth Social post on Friday, April 25, Trump questioned the intelligence of NFL owners while complimenting the quarterback.
“What is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID?” Trump wrote. “He should be ‘picked’ IMMEDIATELY by a team that wants to WIN.”
The Cleveland Browns later picked Sanders in Round 5. The following Monday, during a briefing, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt took credit for Sanders’ selection.
“All I will say is the president put out a statement and a few rounds later, he was drafted,” Leavitt said. “So I think the facts speak for themselves on that one.”
It will be interesting to see how Sanders’ career develops with the Browns and whether Trump will continue to weigh in on his NFL future.
