Philadelphia Eagles News, May 4: Eagles Receive Offseason Grade, Howie Roseman Talks Cooper DeJean, and More

The 2024 NFL Draft is in the rearview mirror, and the Philadelphia Eagles are shifting their focus towards the offseason program and the 2024 season.

However, their impressive offseason has still caught the attention of the NFL world.

Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman Joins ‘The Pat McAfee Show’

While the Eagles getting Quinyon Mitchell in the first round was notable, stealing Cooper DeJean in the second might have been one of the best picks in the entire draft.

As a result, the Eagles are pretty happy, including general manager Howie Roseman. Recently, he went on “The Pat McAfee Show” and discussed the team’s offseason, including DeJean.

“It’s hard to get difference makers, and he’s a difference maker on and off the field. The way he plays, his skill set is unique,” said Roseman when asked about Saquon Barkley, who signed with Philadelphia in free agency.

“You don’t replace that,” said Roseman of center Jason Kelce’s retirement. “It would be disingenuous to even pretend like we’re going to replace Jason Kelce, the person and the player.”

In terms of the draft, though, he was very excited about adding both Mitchell and DeJean.

“Cooper is a playmaker,” said Roseman. “He’s got elite instincts. Wherever you put him, he is a playmaker. He has a nose for the ball. You’ve seen him do it in clutch moments. His ability to play all around the secondary and make plays.”

Eagles Give Jeremiah Trotter Jr. Gets Same Number as His Father

Following the draft, everyone loves seeing what numbers their teams’ rookies will wear.

For Philadelphia, everyone wanted to see if linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. would get the same number as his father, who was an All-Pro for the Eagles.

Well, long story short, he did and will be wearing No. 54, just like his dad.

In terms of the other rookies, here’s what they will be wearing:

    Eagles Receive Offseason Grade

With both free agency and the draft all but done, the main addition and subtraction period is over. Teams will still add and remove players over the course of the next few months, but for now, teams are able to receive grades for what they’ve done.

According to Pro Football Network’s Dallas Robinson, the Eagles had the third-best offseason of all NFC teams.

Robinson gave the Eagles an A- grade, which is just behind the Chicago Bears and Washington Commanders.

Some of the Eagles’ notable additions include Barkley, Bryce Huff, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, and Kenny Pickett. Some departures include Kelce, D’Andre Swift, Haason Reddick, Fletcher Cox, and Kevin Byard.

They also added Mitchell, DeJean, and Hunt in the draft.

“Howie Roseman is still arguably the best GM in the game. Adding Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean to fix a broken Eagles secondary was a home run,” said Robinson.
