Why Bo Nix Not Making Pro Bowl Was Right Call

After not being selected for the Pro Bowl, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix answered with his seventh game-winning drive of the season.

After not being selected for the Pro Bowl, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix answered with his seventh game-winning drive of the season. That said, the Broncos had six players originally selected to the 2025 Pro Bowl. There’s wide receiver Courtland Sutton, right guard Quinn Meinerz, left tackle Garett Bolles, interior defensive lineman (3-4 DE) Zach Allen, EDGE (3-4 OLB) Nik Bonitto, and cornerback Pat Surtain II. But no Nix. Let’s see why.

Seeing Where Bo Nix Stacks Up in the AFC

Before Week 17, Nix totaled 28 total touchdowns through 15 games. That was fourth among QBs in the AFC. And his passing yards per game were fourth as well (236.9). What hurt Nix was his completion percentage (63.5%) and passer rating (88.2). Nix’s passer rating is No. 10 among AFC QBs, and his completion percentage is ninth.

That said, Nix is second in pass attempts (551), third in deep ball attempts (69), and seventh in red zone attempts (73). He’s throwing the ball more than the other QBs in the conference. And in his last five games, including Week 17, Nix has a completion percentage north of 64% in four of those matchups. But his passer rating has been below 89 in three of those five games as well.

So, while 13-3, Nix has some work to do. Through 15 games, he’s No. 13 in PFSN’s QB Impact Score. And the Broncos’ offense, meanwhile, is No. 13 in PFSN’s Offense Impact Score as well. The question becomes, can Nix elevate his game when the offense needs him to?

As of this writing, there are random, fleeting images of greatness from Nix. There’s Week 4 vs. the Cincinnati Bengals, the fourth quarter of Week 7 vs. the New York Giants, Week 8 vs. the Dallas Cowboys, Week 11 vs. the Kansas City Chiefs, Week 13 vs. the Washington Commanders, and Week 15 vs. the Green Bay Packers.

But the problem is these occurrences are random. Nix’s range of outcomes is too wide for a Pro Bowl selection in his sophomore season. In other words, no one saw these great games coming outside of Week 8. Then, with momentum from Week 15, Nix flopped in Week 16 vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Yes, Nix totaled 360-plus scrimmage yards between the 20s. But he was 28-of-47 for a 59.6% completion percentage, a touchdown, an interception, and an 81.2 passer rating. Nix lost a fumble as well. While his cumulative stats put Nix on the doorstep of being a Pro Bowl alternate, the QB needs to narrow his range of outcomes before the playoffs. Week 18 vs. the Los Angeles Chargers will tell us everything. It’ll have the atmosphere of Week 16 vs. the Jaguars.
