Week 5 NFL Power Rankings

32) Tennessee Titans

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 32
  • Offense Rank: 32
  • Defense Rank: 25
  • Playoff Odds: 2.00%

Things didn’t get better for the Tennessee Titans in Week 4, as they had an all-around brutal showing that led to a 0-4 start with their potential franchise quarterback, Cam Ward, at the helm.

This season is quickly going down the drain in Tennessee, with neither side of the ball offering much hope. Going up against a 0-3 Houston Texans roster, a 26-0 shutout was about as bad as things could have gotten for a team that looks like it might be racing to the No. 1 pick for the second-straight season.

Not only does Tennessee have the worst offense in the NFL this season in PFSN’s Offense Impact Score, but the Titans’ 50.1 grade is actually the worst grade any team has posted since 2000.

31) Cincinnati Bengals

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 27
  • Offense Rank: 31
  • Defense Rank: 26
  • Playoff Odds: 29.00%

53.3. That is the grade the Cincinnati Bengals registered on PFSN’s Offense Impact Score. It is the second-worst of any team in the last 25 years behind only the Titans’. Simply put, the Jake Browning experiment isn’t working, as the offense has ground to a halt. Against the Denver Broncos, they managed just 159 total yards. Unless Joe Burrow is magically healed or a trade is made, this season might very well be over.

A worrying trend for them, though, has to be the play of Ja’Marr Chase. Despite his massive contract extension, Chase has struggled with consistency. Aside from a Week 2 explosion against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he has less than 100 receiving yards in the other three games combined, numbers not befitting his status as the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history.

30) New Orleans Saints

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 29
  • Offense Rank: 23
  • Defense Rank: 29
  • Playoff Odds: 4.90%

The New Orleans Saints are now 0-4, but three of their four losses provided some hope to the fan base. Apart from a 44-13 demolition by the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3, the Saints have hung around in all of their contests, providing some optimism for the franchise.

This week, too, a similar story followed when they took on the Buffalo Bills. Despite the drastic difference in their place in the standings, New Orleans gave Buffalo a run for its money for three quarters before the Bills pulled away in the fourth.

29) Carolina Panthers

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 26
  • Offense Rank: 24
  • Defense Rank: 22
  • Playoff Odds: 9.60%

The Carolina Panthers’ roller coaster ride continues. After a 30-0 shutout over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3, their Week 4 game against the New England Patriots took a swing in the opposite direction, as the Panthers were thoroughly dismantled to the tune of 42-13.

Bryce Young hasn’t shown enough for Carolina to confidently believe that he can be their franchise quarterback. He currently ranks 29th out of 35 eligible quarterbacks in PFSN’s QB Impact Score behind guys like Spencer Rattler and Russell Wilson.

28) New York Giants

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 30
  • Offense Rank: 29
  • Defense Rank: 23
  • Number 1 Pick Odds: 5.50%

It was the dawn of a new era for the New York Giants. Going up against the Los Angeles Chargers, they gave the starting nod to Jaxson Dart, and he immediately delivered. Throwing for one touchdown and rushing for another, he was a key piece of the new-look Giants team that gave Los Angeles its first loss of the season.

However, the victory will be tainted by the loss of superstar wide receiver Malik Nabers. Trying to make a big play, Nabers went down with an apparent knee injury that many believe could be a torn ACL.

27) Cleveland Browns

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 25
  • Offense Rank: 30
  • Defense Rank: 7
  • Playoff Odds: 16.00%

Coming into the game with some momentum, the Cleveland Browns put together a 13-play drive for 88 yards and the touchdown. However, from that point forward, it was the Detroit Lions’ show, as it was 34-3 the rest of the way, with the Browns totaling less than 175 yards for the remainder of the game.

Joe Flacco had an especially brutal night with two turnovers in the first half, including a truly quizzical throw. Dillon Gabriel was given some run as the man under center near the end of the game, in what might be a sign of things to come for the rookie.

26) Miami Dolphins

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 28
  • Offense Rank: 14
  • Defense Rank: 32
  • Playoff Odds: 5.70%

Four weeks in, it finally happened. A clash against another 0-3 team is what it took for the Miami Dolphins to register their first win of the season. Darren Waller scored two touchdowns in his Dolphins debut, and Miami earned a 27-21 victory. Tua Tagovailoa had another solid outing, this time without a brutal fourth-quarter interception.

However, the story of the game is Tyreek Hill’s gruesome injury. One of the most sickening visuals seen on a football field, a tackle out of bounds resulted in the superstar wide receiver’s leg snapping in the other direction. It immediately ended his season, with concerns about his career also mounting.

25) Las Vegas Raiders

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 29
  • Offense Rank: 27
  • Defense Rank: 19
  • Playoff Odds: 11.90%

After looking incredibly promising in Week 1, the season has gone awry for the Las Vegas Raiders, as they fell to 1-3 with a loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 4. Going into the fourth quarter with a five-point lead, the Raiders weren’t able to hold on, giving up a touchdown with less than two minutes remaining on the clock.

What made the situation infinitely worse was that with a chance to win the game on a field goal, Daniel Carlson had his attempt blocked, leading to a Chicago victory. The silver lining, if any, came in the form of first-round pick Ashton Jeanty finally finding his groove and exploding for 138 yards and three total touchdowns (one rushing and two receiving).

24) New York Jets

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 27
  • Offense Rank: 17
  • Defense Rank: 27
  • Playoff Odds: 14.00%

Thirteen penalties and three turnovers told the story of the New York Jets’ loss to the Dolphins on Monday Night Football. Despite trying to register their first win of the season, the Jets played sloppy and delivered a brutal first-half performance.

A better showing in the second half may have given fans optimism. But the team has yet to put together a consistent stretch of good football for an extended period of time. What many believed could be a surprising team is firmly headed in the direction of a top pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. After the game, Breece Hall summed up the Jets’ struggles: “Teams shoot themselves in the foot, then we come back and shoot ourselves in the head.”

23) Chicago Bears

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 21
  • Offense Rank: 20
  • Defense Rank: 28
  • Playoff Odds: 18.20%

An 0-2 start has quickly turned into 2-2 for the Bears as they enter their bye week. Even though it hasn’t been smooth sailing for the franchise, the 25-24 victory in Week 4 was exactly the kind of gutsy win that they needed. After blowing out the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3, the Raiders offered Chicago a real test.

A game-winning drive in the fourth quarter ending with a touchdown, combined with a blocked field goal attempt, gave the Bears the edge and allowed them to approach the break with real momentum on their side.

22) Dallas Cowboys

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 22
  • Offense Rank: 3
  • Defense Rank: 31
  • Playoff Odds: 10.00%

A very emotionally charged game ended in the only way it possibly could to appease every fan base. Despite not having CeeDee Lamb on the roster, the Dallas Cowboys were able to maintain their explosive offensive output, ending the game on a 40-point tie.

Dak Prescott had an excellent outing with 319 yards and three touchdowns, while completing over 75% of his passes. A big sign of encouragement for the Cowboys was the emergence of George Pickens as a true number one in Lamb’s absence, as he recorded 134 yards and two touchdowns on just eight catches.

21) Atlanta Falcons

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 23
  • Offense Rank: 18
  • Defense Rank: 16
  • Playoff Odds: 31.00%

The Atlanta Falcons got rid of a rather jarring stat this week. Since Michael Penix Jr. took over as the starting quarterback last season, the team hadn’t won a single game in which the opposing team scored more than seven points. Thankfully, that worry is now put to rest after the Falcons won 34-27 against the Washington Commanders.

However, the fact that a team without its superstar quarterback pushed the Falcons to the limit isn’t a great sign for Atlanta. The biggest victory to take away from the matchup was Penix’s individual performance, as he threw for 313 yards and recorded two touchdowns while completing 20 of his 26 passing attempts.

20) New England Patriots

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 20
  • Offense Rank: 6
  • Defense Rank: 20
  • Playoff Odds: 45.70%

After turnovers were the difference maker in Week 3, the New England Patriots rebounded in a big way in Week 4. Dominating the Carolina Panthers 42-13, they were the better team in all three facets of the game.

An 87-yard return touchdown, two scores from Drake Maye, who finished an absurd 14-of-17 on pass attempts, and two rushing touchdowns told the story of a commanding victory for New England that put them at 2-2 on the season and entered them into the top-five of PFSN’s Offense Impact metric.

19) Houston Texans

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 19
  • Offense Rank: 28
  • Defense Rank: 3
  • Playoff Odds: 17.90%

The last team to make the playoffs after going 0-3 was the Houston Texans in 2018. It remains to be seen if they have another magical turnaround in them. If they are going to repeat that endeavor, then Week 4 against the Titans was the perfect way to make that statement.

Shutting them out 26-0, Houston dominated at all three levels, as C.J. Stroud got out of his slump and recorded 233 yards and two touchdowns, while completing 22 of 28 passing attempts.

18) Pittsburgh Steelers

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 18
  • Offense Rank: 16
  • Defense Rank: 9
  • Playoff Odds: 68.10%

They might have gotten the win, but it was by no means an easy feat for the Pittsburgh Steelers. After five takeaways in Week 3, a resurgent defense added two more turnovers to its tally this week, this time snagging interceptions on Carson Wentz.

The first-ever regular-season game in Ireland ended in triumph for the Steelers, who are now 3-1 and first in the AFC North. Without running back Jaylen Warren, it was an excellent team effort from the Steelers, who saw strong contributions from his replacement, Kenneth Gainwell (99 rushing yards, 2 TDs), and DK Metcalf (126 receiving yards and a TD).

17) Arizona Cardinals

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 16
  • Offense Rank: 25
  • Defense Rank: 18
  • Playoff Odds: 27.60%

After losing James Conner, the sailing was always going to be tough for the Arizona Cardinals. Going up against the Seattle Seahawks, unfortunately, did nothing to help ease those concerns. Falling 23-20, it was the second-straight underwhelming performance from Kyler Murray, who ended the game with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

The lone bright spot for the team, though, might be Marvin Harrison Jr. finding his mojo back after he hauled in a touchdown and finished with 66 receiving yards on the night.

16) San Francisco 49ers

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 15
  • Offense Rank: 11
  • Defense Rank: 15
  • Playoff Odds: 61.60%

As the injuries continued to mount for the San Francisco 49ers, their luck finally ran out. Despite Brock Purdy making his return to the lineup, it wasn’t a great showing from the former Mr. Irrelevant. Logging two interceptions and a lost fumble, his turnovers proved to be the difference as Jacksonville won 26-21.

Tied with the Los Angeles Rams in the division, it makes their encounter next week a very important one in terms of playoff seeding. With the roster ravaged by injuries, can head coach Kyle Shanahan pull out something magical against his divisional rival?

15) Minnesota Vikings

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 11
  • Offense Rank: 26
  • Defense Rank: 2
  • Playoff Odds: 30.00%

The Minnesota Vikings have been a rollercoaster ride through four weeks, with some truly insane performances marred by unexpectedly disappointing nights. Week 1 ended in triumph, and Week 3 was a masterclass on the defensive end. However, the other weeks have been far from excellent, especially after dropping their Week 4 game to the Steelers in Dublin.

The Carson Wentz experiment also turned into a mixed bag, with the veteran quarterback throwing for 350 yards and two touchdowns, but also costing two interceptions that ultimately led to a tight 24-21 defeat.

14) Baltimore Ravens

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 13
  • Offense Rank: 13
  • Defense Rank: 30
  • Playoff Odds: 42.30%

A 1-3 start undersells the myriad problems that the Baltimore Ravens are facing this season. The defense has been atrocious from start to finish, with three teams going for 35+ points in four outings. The offense has been excellent for the most part (aside from some costly Derrick Henry fumbles).

But against the Chiefs’ defense, the Ravens sputtered to just 20 points, including a touchdown in garbage time. However, the biggest news coming out of the game is going to be Lamar Jackson. Playing his worst game in forever, Jackson did not play in the fourth quarter, with a hamstring issue forcing Cooper Rush to line up under center.

If the issue proves to be a nagging problem, then the Ravens could be the surprise team in the AFC that misses the playoffs. The shocking stat of the week is that PFSN’s Playoff Predictor gives Baltimore just a 42.10% chance of making the playoffs, and the Ravens now have a higher chance of landing the No. 1 pick (.9%) than they do of earning the No. 1 seed (.8%).

13) Los Angeles Chargers

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 6
  • Offense Rank: 21
  • Defense Rank: 4
  • Playoff Odds: 76.60%

After it looked like the Chargers were going to be the class of the AFC West this season and finally usurp the Kansas City Chiefs as the division winners, Week 4 went about as badly as it could for the team. Not only did they lose to the 0-3 New York Giants with a rookie starting at quarterback, but they did it with the team’s best offensive player, Malik Nabers, missing the entire second half.

Add in potential injuries to Joe Alt, and the worries about the offensive line without Rashawn Slater will only continue to increase. Justin Herbert, after throwing just three interceptions in the entire 2023 season, had two in just this game alone.

12) Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 17
  • Offense Rank: 10
  • Defense Rank: 5
  • Playoff Odds: 75.30%

The defense, once again, was the highlight for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Facing an injury-depleted San Francisco 49ers roster, Jacksonville controlled the majority of the game. Even though the 49ers tried to make it a game late, critical defensive stops, along with four turnovers (including three by the returning Brock Purdy) proved to be the difference.

On the offensive side, it was a relatively quiet day for Trevor Lawrence. However, the bright spot was Travis Etienne Jr., who had 19 carries for 124 yards and a touchdown.

11) Washington Commanders

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 9
  • Offense Rank: 7
  • Defense Rank: 17
  • Playoff Odds: 39.90%

While they were able to take care of the Las Vegas Raiders without Jayden Daniels in Week 3, the Atlanta Falcons proved to be a tougher challenge for the Washington Commanders, as they fell to 2-2 on the year with a 34-27 loss.

Marcus Mariota was underwhelming to say the least, as the Commanders’ defense, after an excellent start to the season, came down to earth and allowed 313 passing yards to Michael Penix Jr. after the Falcons were shut out in Week 3 by the Panthers.

10) Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 5
  • Offense Rank: 22
  • Defense Rank: 12
  • Playoff Odds: 81.30%

Baker Mayfield’s magic finally ran out. After coming from behind in each of their first three victories to open the season 3-0, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could not muster another comeback against the Philadelphia Eagles. But the writing was on the wall from the very first possession.

A blocked punt return touchdown paved the way for the Eagles to start the game with a quick 7-0 lead. From there, it was no looking back, as they built an insurmountable lead. Two 70-yard touchdowns by Tampa Bay made the game interesting late in the fourth quarter, but Mayfield’s critical interception in the end zone in the final minutes ultimately spelled the team’s demise. It will be interesting to see what the Bucs look like once Chris Godwin shakes off the rust and Mike Evans, Luke Goedeke, and Jalen McMillan are back.

9) Denver Broncos

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 11
  • Offense Rank: 12
  • Defense Rank: 1
  • Playoff Odds: 49.30%

For the first time this season, Bo Nix looked like the quarterback the Denver Broncos were expecting in his sophomore season. Throwing for 326 yards and two touchdowns, he took full advantage of a dominant performance from Denver’s defense, which is ranked the No. 1 unit in all of football according to PFSN’s Defense Impact Score.

If this game is a sign of things to come from the offense, then perhaps this team could emerge as a legitimate threat in the AFC, as the Broncos finally look like the real deal. Next week, they face off against the Philadelphia Eagles, which is a terrific litmus test.

8) Indianapolis Colts

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 7
  • Offense Rank: 2
  • Defense Rank: 21
  • Playoff Odds: 82.80%

Earning brownie points in a loss as a previously undefeated team is hard. But for the 3-0 Indianapolis Colts, that is exactly what their Week 4 game against the Rams did. After three victories over less-than-stellar competition, Indianapolis held its own until the very end against a potential Super Bowl contender.

Aside from an 88-yard touchdown bomb that won Los Angeles the game, the Colts faced off blow for blow against LA and even had a legitimate shot at victory. It might not have been enough in the end, but Indy is starting to put every team on notice.

7) Seattle Seahawks

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 12
  • Offense Rank: 5
  • Defense Rank: 8
  • Playoff Odds: 71.60%

Three consecutive victories and the Seattle Seahawks are starting to look like a legitimate force to be reckoned with in the NFC. Whether it is on the road or at home, the Seahawks are getting it done on both sides of the ball.

After a ton of questions were posed about their viability as they replaced Geno Smith with Sam Darnold, the game plan for Seattle seems to be working as well as the franchise could have hoped, resulting in immediate, tangible success.

6) Green Bay Packers

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 3
  • Offense Rank: 8
  • Defense Rank: 10
  • Playoff Odds: 66.70%

The end result of 40-40 may seem like poetic justice. But it marks the second consecutive week where the Green Bay Packers have played far worse football than is expected of them. Blowing a 10-point lead in the final four minutes of the game to the Cleveland Browns was a shocking loss.

Rather than try to rebound from that effort, the Packers had another lacklustre defensive outing, despite the added stakes of an emotional revenge game for Micah Parsons in his return to Dallas. The last two weeks have made it clear that Green Bay may not be as good as initially presumed.

5) Los Angeles Rams

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 10
  • Offense Rank: 9
  • Defense Rank: 6
  • Playoff Odds: 71.40%

Trying to bounce back from a truly heartbreaking loss to the Eagles, the Los Angeles Rams responded perfectly, beating the undefeated Colts 27-20. The game was far closer than the final score suggests, with neither team willing to give an inch.

In the end, it was an 88-yard bomb from Matthew Stafford to Tutu Atwell that proved to be the game-winning touchdown. The Rams’ defense continued its excellent start to the season, limiting the offense that came into the week as the highest-ranked unit in PFSN’s Offense Impact Score metric to just 20 points.

4) Kansas City Chiefs

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 8
  • Offense Rank: 15
  • Defense Rank: 9
  • Playoff Odds: 65.50%

The Kansas City Chiefs are back. For the first two and a half games, it seemed like the dynasty may be over, as Patrick Mahomes and Co. didn’t look like themselves after the Super Bowl loss to the Eagles. However, starting in the second half against the Giants, the team seems to have found new life.

Dominating on both sides of the ball, they easily dispatched another potential Super Bowl contender in the Baltimore Ravens, beating them 37-20, as Mahomes had a vintage performance with 270 yards and four touchdowns. Xavier Worthy is back, and Rashee Rice’s return is right around the corner.

Buckle up, rest of the NFL.

3) Philadelphia Eagles

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 4
  • Offense Rank: 19
  • Defense Rank: 13
  • Playoff Odds: 92.20%

Regardless of how, the end result through four weeks has remained the same. The Philadelphia Eagles come out with a victory. It was a slugfest against the Cowboys, a lucky interception against the Chiefs, a miraculous blocked field goal against the Rams. This week against the Bucs, Philadelphia won in a shootout where they led for the entire game.

The offense was once again underwhelming against the Buccaneers, despite putting up 31 points, as they managed less than 250 total yards. A blocked punt turned into a touchdown, giving them an early lead in the first quarter, and Philadelphia never looked back.

2) Detroit Lions

  • Last Week’s Ranking: 2
  • Offense Rank: 4
  • Defense Rank: 11
  • Playoff Odds: 78.50%

Week after week, the Detroit Lions are removing any doubts about them this season. With the loss of both coordinators, there was genuine concern about how the team would fare. A Week 1 blowout loss against the Packers further emphasized those questions.

However, the next three weeks have gone about as well as head coach Dan Campbell could have hoped for. This week, it was the defense that was the team’s crown jewel. After giving up an 88-yard touchdown on the Browns’ first drive, Detroit limited them to less than 250 total yards on the night.

1) Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills’ defense remains a major question mark. Regardless of the opponent, teams have been able to put points on the board and keep themselves in the game every week. This time, it was the Saints who remained within breathing distance of Buffalo throughout the night.

However, it was a furious fourth-quarter rally that ultimately put the Bills over the top and gave them a 31-19 victory for a 4-0 start to the season. Josh Allen is showing why he is the reigning NFL MVP, and Buffalo has the top-ranked offense in PFSN’s Offense Impact Score, which is making up for the defense’s struggles.
