The San Francisco 49ers just can’t seem to catch a break. From one thing to another, the franchise has been marred by some controversy throughout this summer.
The dispute with Brandon Aiyuk had begun a tumultuous offseason. But since then, head coach Kyle Shanahan has been in an accident, owner Jed York has been arrested, and now a random individual, Daejon Love, has been caught running a scam while pretending to be on the team’s roster.
Stephen Jackson Believes Daejon Love Did Nothing Wrong
Love and Taylor Jamie Chan, aged 35 and 18, respectively, were the ones who tried to run the scam, defrauding more than two dozen women out of over $1.3 million. They were officially charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud.
Running the scam for over four years, Love created fake personas on dating apps, presenting himself as a member of the 49ers. Posing Chan as his financial advisor, the two got multiple women to lend Love large sums of money.
But even as the internet has firmly gone against him and his practices, former NBA champion Stephen Jackson isn’t willing to place all the blame on Love. Instead, in a heated rant on social media, he went after the people criticizing Love.

“I see y’all [expletive] laughing at the dude that was out there acting like he was a 49er. I see y’all. Y’all ain’t no worse than him,” Jackson said. “A lot of y’all still got hoop dreams, y’all just ain’t walking around with a uniform on. All y’all talking like y’all ain’t done it.”
Going a step further, he extended the comparison, claiming, “Y’all can’t laugh at him because y’all do the same thing. Y’all just ain’t walking around here with a helmet or a jersey on. All y’all faking. None of y’all know nothing about what y’all talking about.”

Moreover, he saw no difference between the two sides and questioned folks who were trying to laugh at him. “So how y’all gonna laugh at that dude for psyching himself out that he was a football player? A lot of y’all psyching yourself out, like you know about sports.”

Continuing his rant, Jackson added, “Didn’t make the church league, got cut from middle school, ain’t never been in the professional locker room. But y’all wanna debate everybody about sports. Man, listen y’all just like this same clown.”
While Jackson was correct in the comparison that everyone blasting Love has been a crazy sports fan throughout their lives, the criticism against the 35-year-old has stemmed from the scam he was trying to run.
Cutting off communication from the victims who had loaned him money, the authorities were able to identify 26 such instances, with more remaining unidentified. As a result, Love is facing serious charges and could face serious repercussions against him in the near future.
