Broncos Predicted As Free-Agent Destination for 6-Time Pro Bowl WR With To Improve Bo Nix’s Weapons

Broncos eye a veteran, Super Bowl winning, wide receiver to boost its offense after AFC title loss as Bo Nix seeks more reliable weapons.

Few wide receivers in NFL history have matched the consistency Mike Evans has displayed over the past decade. As he approaches his first opportunity to test the open market, it’s worth exploring what the next phase of his career could look like. One recent projection connects the veteran receiver to a playoff contender.

PFSN Predicts Mike Evans to Broncos Amid Free Agency

PFSN analyst Jacob Infante listed the Denver Broncos among the top landing spots for Mike Evans should the Buccaneers wideout reach the open market. Evans has spent all 12 of his NFL seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, building a résumé as the most productive receiver of his era.

He began his career with 11 consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, tying Jerry Rice for the longest such streak to start a career. Entering the 2026 offseason, Evans has totaled more than 13,000 receiving yards, 109 touchdowns, and six Pro Bowl selections.

In 2025, a hamstring injury limited him to eight games. Evans is slated to hit free agency for the first time in his career, and Tampa Bay’s long-term direction at receiver remains uncertain after using a first-round pick on Emeka Egbuka. Quarterback Baker Mayfield will return, along with Egbuka and veteran Chris Godwin. Head coach Todd Bowles is also back.

In a postseason interview, Mayfield suggested Evans would be back in Tampa Bay.

At 32 years old, Evans would not represent a multi-year rebuild piece. However, his red-zone efficiency and contested-catch dominance could be similar to what Davante Adams provided the Rams.

Why the Broncos Could Be a Fit for Mike Evans

With approximately $29 million in cap space entering the offseason, Denver has the flexibility to explore additions. Pairing Evans with Pro Bowler Courtland Sutton would give Nix two big-bodied perimeter targets.

After earning the AFC’s No. 1 seed with a 14–3 record, the Denver Broncos fell to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship, largely due to an offense that couldn’t generate enough explosive plays. The defense is as good as it gets.

The Broncos’ defense ranked first in PFSN’s Defense Impact Metric. Offensively, Denver ranked 15th in PFSN’s Offense Impact Metric. Quarterback Bo Nix showed improvement in his second campaign, but he could use another playmaker opposite Sutton.

Several teams could make a call. Denver is the type of team that makes sense. Nix is still on his rookie deal. The money usually reserved for a quarterback of Nix’s quality could be allocated to a top playmaker instead.
