The Detroit Lions and head coach Dan Campbell made a bold move this week regarding offensive play-calling. After a disappointing loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9, the Lions must have felt they were missing something on offense.
That is why Campbell decided to take over as offensive play-caller and relegate offensive coordinator John Morton to a lesser role. This is not the first time Campbell has called plays in the NFL, but it is hard to argue with the results of his first game this season.
The Lions totaled 44 points on Sunday and scored on their first eight drives. For now, it makes sense for Campbell to continue calling plays for his team.

Lions Offense Clicking on All Cylinders
It is hard not to be impressed with Campbell after the Lions offense put on a clinic Sunday. He called a great game, keeping all his playmakers involved.
According to PFSN, the Lions ranked first in Offense Impact score in Week 10, with a rating of 91.0. That is also the second-best Offensive Impact score for any game this season.
Detroit averaged 8.0 yards per play and 4.89 points per drive. Both of those numbers led the NFL for Week 10 heading into the Monday Night Football game. It does bear mentioning that the Commanders’ defense is one of the worst in the NFL, and that played a role in the Lions’ success.
Some of the notable performances from the Lions players came from running back Jahmyr Gibbs. He rushed 15 times for a season-high 142 yards and two touchdowns including an impressive 43-yard scoring scamper. He also caught three passes for 30 yards and one touchdown. His 89.5 RB Impact Score for the game was the highest of the week.

As far as the passing game goes, Jared Goff threw the ball with ease, recording 320 passing yards and three touchdowns.
Amon-Ra St. Brown caught five passes for 58 yards and one touchdown, while Jameson Williams had the breakout game we were waiting for. Williams had the best game of his season with six catches, 119 yards, and one score. His WR Impact Score was a season-high 83.2.
Lions Fighting for NFC North Title
It looks like the NFC North is one of the toughest divisions in the NFL this season. The Lions and Chicago Bears have six wins, and the Green Bay Packers have a chance to get their sixth on Monday Night. All three of those teams look like playoff contenders, and a division title will not come easy.
The Lions have one of the best rosters in football and should be among the top offenses. With Campbell calling plays, the early returns indicate the Lions can be the best offense in football, and that makes them serious Super Bowl contenders.
