Chiefs Predicted To Sign 27-TD Free Agent RB After Eric Bieniemy’s Return As Team’s OC

After a lost season and major injuries, the Chiefs are projected to revamp their backfield by signing a 27-touchdown free agent to Kansas City.

From missing the playoffs to their superstar and face of the league quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, suffering a season-ending injury, this was a failure of a season for the Kansas City Chiefs. The team has many glaring needs and holes to fill before the team can return to the level it once played at. In free agency, they are predicted to sign a 27-touchdown free agent to take over their running back room.

Kansas City Chiefs Sign a Versatile Running Back

In PFSN’s Ryan Guthrie’s 2026 NFL free agent predictions, the Chiefs are predicted to sign former New York Jet Breece Hall to a contract, giving the team more stability in the running game. Here’s what Guthrie has to say on the signing:

“The Chiefs know they need more juice in the backfield. Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco aren’t enough. Kansas City nearly traded for Breece Hall at the deadline, and the fit is obvious. His pass-catching ability gives Patrick Mahomes a dangerous outlet as Mahomes continues working back from injury. Hall could immediately rank among the league leaders in RB receiving production.”

Despite having a future Hall of Fame quarterback and tight end in Mahomes and Kelce, the Chiefs’ offense only ranks 17th in the league with an impact score of 74.3 and a letter grade of C in PFSN’s NFL Offensive Impact Metric. Head coach Andy Reid is the playcaller for the team, but he worked closely with offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, who is currently interviewing for head coaching positions. Now, former Chiefs coordinator Eric Bienemy is expected to take over as offensive coordinator for Nagy.

Hall is a former second-round pick from the 2022 NFL Draft, who was selected by the Jets out of Iowa State University. In 16 games this season, Hall ran the ball 243 times for 1065 rushing yards and four touchdowns. He also caught 36 passes for 350 yards and one touchdown. In PFSN’s NFL Running Back Impact Metric (RBi), Hall ranked as the 14th-best running back in the league with an impact score of 69.2 and a letter grade of D+.

In his career, he’s played in 56 games, rushing 755 times for 3,398 yards and 18 touchdowns. He’s also caught 188 receptions for 1642 yards and nine touchdowns.

Here’s how the rest of the Chiefs’ running backs ranked in PFSN’s RBi this past season: Kareem Hunt ranked 22nd in the league with an impact score of 65.6 and a letter grade of D, and Isiah Pacheco ranked 49th in the league with an impact score of 47.1 and a letter grade of F.
