Joe Burrow Dynasty Profile: Fantasy Outlook, Value, Projections, and Rankings

What is Joe Burrow's dynasty value entering his fourth season, and how should you value him compared to other options available?

As we close in toward the new season, the ever-changing NFL landscape has player fantasy values constantly on the move, with key events like free agency and the 2023 NFL Draft still to come. Whether you’re used to the dynasty platform or are still learning the rules, let’s dive into the latest dynasty fantasy football value of QB Joe Burrow.

Joe Burrow’s Dynasty Outlook and Value

There is simply no way you can have a conversation about the Tier 1 of dynasty quarterbacks and not include Joe Burrow. His play in 2022 sealed his status amongst Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, and Jalen Hurts.

Finishing as the QB4, Burrow completed 393 of his 568 pass attempts (69.2%) for 4,312 yards (fifth), with 35 touchdowns (second) and 12 interceptions. Burrow was sixth in the NFL in EPA+CPOE and success rate while also recording the sixth-highest completion percentage over expectation (+2.2).

Sitting fourth in points per game at 22.3 PPR, Burrow was one of the most consistent quarterbacks this year. He was a QB2 or better in 100% of his games and finished inside the top 12 in 69% of his games (11).

Over the last two years, Burrow is behind only Mahomes, Tom Brady, and Justin Herbert in passing yards with 9,086 (283.9 per game) despite sitting eighth in attempts. He’s also third in touchdowns (69) and first in TD percentage (6.1%).

While he’ll never be confused for Justin Fields or Jalen Hurts, Burrow did record 257 yards and five touchdowns on the ground this year, which does help raise his floor, even though he makes all of his value with his arm.

Although he’s already 26, I don’t really care about age when it comes to quarterbacks like I would receivers or running backs. QBs hold their value, barring injury, the longest of any fantasy-relevant position group.

    Joe Burrow’s Fantasy Rankings

Burrow is elite in whatever metric you want to use as a passer. He’s on a team investing around him on the offensive line and has the best one-two punch at receiver in the entire league. He’s unflappable under pressure, and there is never a moment that appears too big for him.

At the latest, Burrow should be the QB4 off the board in dynasty drafts. For me, that’s exactly where he is in dynasty QB rankings, and he is the No. 4 overall player in Superflex drafts, where QBs see an increase in value due to positional scarcity. The only positional players I could imagine selecting over Burrow would be Justin Jefferson or Ja’Marr Chase.

When building a roster, especially in Superflex dynasty leagues, I prioritize QB because if you do not have two top-end QBs, you are at a massive disadvantage that would require you to significantly overpay to fix. There is the cliché that “QBs are never cheaper than they are in the draft.” It’s true.

Ten QBs make up the first 20 picks in my rankings, meaning in a 12-team league, if you’re waiting until the back end of the second or early third, Deshaun Watson, Trey Lance, Dak Prescott, and Kirk Cousins are the best available. That is not a route you likely want to go down. If you have a shot to draft an elite QB like Burrow, do it, and do not overthink it.
