The New York Giants‘ rookie quarterback continues to rewrite the record books. Jaxson Dart’s impressive start to his NFL career reached another milestone Thursday night. His performance against the Philadelphia Eagles added to a growing list of achievements. The 22-year-old is making his mark faster than most rookies do.
What Record Did Jaxson Dart Break Against the Eagles?
According to an NFL+ post on X, Dart became the first rookie quarterback to defeat a reigning Super Bowl MVP in primetime within his first three career starts. The historic achievement came during New York’s dominant 34-17 victory over Philadelphia on Thursday Night Football.

Dart completed 17 of 25 passes for 195 yards and one touchdown while adding 13 rushes for 58 yards and another score. His dual-threat performance overwhelmed the Eagles’ defense, which struggled to contain his skills.
The former Ole Miss star took over as a starter in Week 4 after the Giants stumbled to an 0-3 start under veteran Russell Wilson. Wilson struggled through three games before being benched following a home loss, during which frustrated fans chanted “We want Dart.”
The change has worked. Dart is now 2-1 as a starter and has injected energy into an offense that looked lifeless early in the season. Through three starts, he’s completed 65.9% of his passes for 508 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing 32 times for 167 yards and two scores.
Dart creates problems on designed runs and scrambles, consistently converting crucial third downs and extending drives that would be difficult with a less mobile quarterback.
How Is Jaxson Dart’s Performance?
The PFSN QB Impact Score provides deeper context on Dart’s early performance. His score of 70.8 ranks 29th nationally among all quarterbacks this season, earning him a C- grade.
The metrics show a talented rookie still adjusting to NFL speed. Dart flashes the tools that made him the 25th overall pick, but he needs time to refine his craft. His record-breaking primetime win shows the ceiling, while the metrics reveal how much room exists for growth.
The offensive unit around him faces similar challenges. The Giants have the 28th-ranked offense in PFSN’s Offensive Impact metric, with a score of 66.1, earning a D grade. They are averaging just 20.2 points per game through six weeks, though production has ticked up since Dart’s promotion.
Defense keeps the team competitive. The Giants’ Defense Impact Score of 71.7 ranks 20th and carries a C- grade from PFSN. That unit held Philadelphia to 17 points Thursday and has given Dart the kind of support that allows young quarterbacks to develop without carrying the entire burden.
The Giants are 2-4 and fourth in the NFC East. What looked like a lost season now has hope. Dart has given New York something it hasn’t had in years – a young quarterback worth building around whose best football remains ahead of him.
