A throwback Travis Kelce tweet has unexpectedly turned into one of the internet’s most entertaining crossovers. What started as a random moon-related post from 2010 resurfaced this week after NASA replied to it during its Artemis II mission coverage.
That interaction quickly caught fire online, but how could it miss the Kelce brothers’ “New Heights” podcast, where both Travis and Jason shared their reactions? And while Travis kept things light, Jason used the viral moment to make a surprisingly thoughtful case for why space exploration still matters.
How Travis Kelce Reacted to NASA Resurfacing His 2010 Moon Tweet
Travis wasn’t just playing around as the original post came from Aug. 24, 2010, when he wrote, “The moon looks crazy tonight… Imma chill out here for a little and just visualize my success n vibe to the scenary.”
At the time, it was simply a late-night thought from a college-age athlete. But 16 years later, NASA revisited it while promoting Artemis II, the agency’s major moon mission. NASA’s official account responded on April 5 with, “It’s been a long time coming…”
Now, during the latest episode of “New Heights,” Travis joked about the attention and how people made a case of his height and structure not being fit for a spacecraft, while he also admitted that the dream of going to space still lives somewhere in the back of his mind.
“This is one of Ed Kelce’s [Travis’ father] favorite slogans, man. ‘Life isn’t fair. So, don’t ever think if you don’t get to do what you want to do,’ and when you have genes such as Mama Kelce’s genes that make you 6-foot-5 or 6-foot-4,” Travis said.
Travis leaned into the absurdity of the old tweet resurfacing, but also framed it as one of those strange full-circle internet moments that only seem possible in 2026: “It’s still a dream.”
Even amid the off-field fun, Travis is still producing on it. According to PFSN’s Tight End Impact Metric, he posted an 80.6 TE Impact Score and a B- grade in 2025, ranking 12th at the position.
Why Jason Kelce Defends NASA’s Artemis II Mission
While Travis handled the humor, Jason steered the conversation toward a more reflective tone. As NASA continues its Artemis II mission, with four astronauts traveling around the moon in a historic step forward for human space exploration, Jason said he fully supports the effort.

“I love it. I’m a big fan of us going places with rockets,” said Jason (laughingly). “I don’t know who I was listening to, if it was Neil deGrasse Tyson or somebody, but I think a lot of people get upset with the money spent on going to space and doing these things because they don’t really see the upside in the investment.”
He then expanded on why he believes the long-term value of these missions often gets overlooked.
“And I think somebody way smarter in this space than me was talking about just the amount of inventions and innovations that have taken place with the human desire to go places we’ve never been,” Jason added. “NASA has gone through all of that to make space travel safer, more effective, and more efficient. I don’t know that it’s a net loss the way people think that it is.”
In the end, this was more than just a funny social media callback. It gave the Kelce brothers another memorable podcast moment, and maybe, for Travis, kept that moonshot dream alive just a little longer.
